  1. In last week's Is It Wednesday Yet? Des and Mike didn't quite agree. This week the pair reviews Captain America #30, Marvel Comics Presents #1, New X-Men #42, Penance: Relentless #1 and Terror, Inc. #2. Are things any different this time around? 2. Well, it's a light week this time around, but we're still here to present five early reviews: Irredeemable Ant-Man #12, Marvel Illustrated: Treasure Island #4, Wolverine: Origins #17, World War Hulk #4 and World War Hulk: Front Line #4 The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-011
  3. Drafted offers a slightly different take on the tried and true formula of an alien invasion, uniting all of humanity in a struggle against oppression from galaxies unknown. While the front cover proudly displays an entire mob, dressed for battle with weapons in hand, this first issue offers nothing quite that interesting. Instead, the creators appear to be carefully setting the stage for an enormous, years-spanning tale. If the pace of this issue is any indication, it's going to be a very long ride. Episode 03

In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick unleashes Dying in the Gutters, a new segment of which he only names during the show! Spoiler-free reviews of horror comics abound in this cavalcade of cracking voices. BOOM! Studios, Devil's Due, Dark Horse... are any publishers free from his wrath? Well, these three are, because they do good stuff. Tunes include "A Marine Biologist" by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, "Setting Fire to Sleep" by The Dillinger Escape Plan and "Scream!" by The Misfits with Michale Graves on vocals. 5. Des and Mike go through five issues of Countdown this month (39, 38, 37, 36 and 35), pointing out the good, the bad and the ugly along the way. Oh, and Des was right about... ah, that would be telling! [ 4:11:56 || 115 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_156.mp3
  6. Anyone who has conversed with me on the Earth-2.net forums or simply reads my posts there probably knows at least two things about me: I love anime, and I love Sonic the Hedgehog. Common sense would dictate that I would love an OVA (original video animation) anime movie featuring the iconic blue blur. Was this the case? Uh... nope. Not even close. Sadly, in the case of the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA, that is about as far from reality as it gets. From the inconsistent animation, to the confusing script, to the plot holes, to the character butchering, topped off with some truly annoying voice acting, there was little joy to be had from watching this movie. There were plenty of headaches for me, though -- mainly from banging my head into my desk trying to figure out what the hell was happening at any given moment. 7. Jenny and Mike share some laughs over Confessions of a Blabbermouth, a brand new graphic novel by the DC Comics imprint Minx. They then briefly wonder how they acted as college freshmen. Mike offers a sincere apology to horror podcasters. And then the duo reviews Rob Zombie's Halloween. [ 1:45:54 || 48.4 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_155.mp3

  10. In previous installments of Is It Wednesday Yet?, Des and Mike have pretty much seen eye to eye, this week all that changes. Which books couldn't they come to terms on? Well, here's the list to choose from: Cyblade Pilot Season #1, New Avengers #34, Nova #6, Parade (with Fireworks) #1 and Thor #3. Episode 02

In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick interviews John A. Russo, co-screenwriter of Night of the Living Dead. He also chatted with the guys from VLE Comics, publishers of the awesome miniseries Nightwolf: The Price. Plus: tunes from American Werewolves and Ghoultown. 12. "I am not too excited for this, but I will give it a chance." Those were my exact words earlier today in regards to "One More Day," the new storyline running through all the Spider-Man books. Now, the reason I greeted this with some trepidation is because, like a lot of people, I did not like "The Other" -- the last multi-title crossover involving Spider-Man. It was clumsy, overly long, didn't really change the character and has seemingly been forgotten by Marvel. Since then, Peter's life has changed a lot, and Amazing Spider-Man has been a tremendous book since the beginning of Civil War. So I was willing to grab this arc to see if Marvel could get it right this time. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/marvel/sp...-spider-man-544
  13. After arguing over who's better between Han Solo and Indiana Jones, Jenny and Mike take a look at the September Previews. [ 56:53 || 26.0 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_153.mp3
  14. It's no secret that Hollywood is not at its creative zenith right now. Original ideas are about as rare as honest politicians, which has led to the movie industry placing a greater and greater reliance on comic books for their next blockbusters. But the exact term of "comic book movie" is not as easy to define as you might think. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/wilson_i/comic-reel-lief-02
  15. Eleven comics are covered this week, including Exiles #98, Incredible Hulk #110 and Uncanny X-Men #490. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-009
  16. In this edition of World's Finest Podcast, James and Mike answer a slew of e-mails, and then discuss five episodes of Batman: The Animated Series: "The Man Who Killed Batman," "Mudslide," "Paging the Crime Doctor," "Zatanna" and "The Mechanic." 20. For all intents and purposes, Double Dragon is a horrendous movie. In that vein, there is little to distinguish it from any of the other movies I've reviewed in the past like Bloodrayne and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Where Double Dragon differs in its putrescence is that Paul Dini helped write the script. Yes, the same Paul Dini who helped create Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and the rest of the DC animated universe. Dini isn't perfect; Mike and I have criticized his writing on World's Finest Podcast, but even his worst BTAS episode is nowhere near as bad as Double Dragon -- which is an embarrassment to video games, filmmaking and everything associated with that franchise. 23. After a short hiatus, Des and Mike return with reviews of Abyss #1, Atomic Robo #1, Mice Templar #1, Neozoic #1 and Strangeland: Seven Sins #1. 25. It is an interesting time in the horror genre right now. It might have more to do with my heightened awareness of genre conventions or it may be that the Internet has laid the entire genre bare, but we are at a time when we can almost predict the zeitgeist for horror films. "Torture porn" has come and gone, so what's the next trend Hollywood will exploit? Let's take a look. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/reddick/reel-dread-45
