  1. Heading into the recent Black Canary miniseries, I didn't know what to expect. Would it be a cheesecake book, belittling the character because she has breasts? Or would those four issues serve to strengthen her before Green Arrow was relaunched as Green Arrow / Black Canary? The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/dc/misc/black-canary

  6. Thanks to Karl Kerschl's artwork I was expecting to love Teen Titans: Year One #1. But I do not. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/dc/teen-t...ans-year-one-01
  7. Previously Mr. Freeze was portrayed as a tortured, sympathetic villain, but all that changed during the animated movie Batman and Mr. Freeze: SubZero. And that change isn't particularly liked by your hosts. [ 1:53:18 || 51.8 MB ] The above is from: http://www.worldsfinestpodcast.com/episodes/wfp_019.mp3
  8. Three books received the lowest score possible, one should be avoided on principle and one is good enough to buy. And those comics are Marvel Adventures Hulk #7, Ms. Marvel #23, Silver Surfer: In Thy Name #3, The Twelve #1 and Wolverine #61. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-025
  9. On an almost weekly basis, they've told you what comic books to buy, borrow, flip through and skip, but now Desmond Reddick and Michael David Sims take it one step further. In this installment of the Is It Wednesday Yet? segment of Earth-2.net: The Show, they shine a very bright light on the best comic books, creators and publishers of 2007! 11. For the second show in a row Jenny rants! This time it wasn't the ill treatment of puppies that drew her ire; instead it was... well, telling would spoil the fun. Later the duo dissects the January Previews, but before all that they answer an e-mail concerning their recent I Am Legend discussion. 12. It's the first Is It Wednesday Yet? of 2008, but that doesn't mean we're taking it easy on the comics. This week five books are covered: Moon Knight #14, Thunderbolts #118, Ultimate Human #1, Witchblade #112 and, leftover from last week, Marvel Zombies 2 #3. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-024
  13. Street Fighter. Bloodrayne. Saw IV. All of these are movies I have reviewed and dissected with the fury of a thousand hells. One reason those films deserved the thrashings I gave them was because they had huge budgets and they still failed miserably. However, the film I'm reviewing in this installment of Tranquil Tirades is not a big-budget, silver screen feature - it's a fan film. Thus, there was a certain level of reluctance when deciding to write about it - especially considering I create music videos, which are really fan films in their own way. (The whole "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" proverb springs to mind.) However, this fan film doesn't deserve any restraint on my part. It is an utter abomination. It takes the character of Batman and mangles it, violates it, eats it and regurgitates it into a 28-minute mountain of bile. If you ever liked anything about Batman - the comic books, the movies, the TV show, the cartoons, the character - do not watch this movie. Ever. You have been warned. 14. The original Teen Titans aren't going to wait for their adult counterparts to retire. Oh no! They're taking their mantles by storm! Art: Karl Kerschl The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/wallpaper/full/Teen_Titans_001.jpg
  15. It's the first show of the new year! First Jenny and Mike discuss Christmas, then Jenny rants about how people treat their dogs. Following that, the duo reviews I Am Legend - the book by Richard Matheson and the movie starring Will Smith. One is loved, the other... not so much. Episode 18

In this episode of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick gives you New Year's revelers some films to help you sober up, or make you want to drink more - The Girl Next Door and Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre. Also reviewed are the Giant Monsters trade paperback and North Wind #1, both from BOOM! Studios. Desmond gets all preachy and delivers the following tunes for your New Year's pleasure: "Right Next Door to Hell" by Guns 'N Roses, "Monster" by Michale Graves, "Blacken the Cursed Sun" by Lamb of God, "Violent World" by The Undead and "Phone Home" by The Dillinger Escape Plan. Enjoy responsibly. [ 52:36 || 24.0 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/dreadmedia...admedia_018.mp3
  17. In part one of this two-part series I assaulted you with the first five games in a list I like to call the Top 10 Worst Games I Ever Loved. As I said last time, sometimes a game is so awful I can't help but feel its pull - I'm compelled to love it, despite (or because of) its flaws. The remaining five games represent the worst of the worst... or is that the best of the worst? Either way, my pain is real - feel it! The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/dw/worst-games-02
  18. It isn't often that Des and Mike agree on most of the books they review on the Is It Wednesday Yet? segment, but this is one of those weeks. Only one book had them at different ends of the spectrum. Was it Fantastic Four: Isla de la Muerte, Hulk vs. Fin Fan Foom, Marvel Illustrated: The Picture of Dorian Gray #1, X-Men: First Class #7 or The Zombie: Simon Garth #2? 19. It's the end of an era! After 18 episodes of World's Finest Podcast, James and Mike are finally here to discuss the final five episodes of Batman: The Animated Series: "Harley's Holiday," "Lock-Up," "Make 'em Laugh," "Deep Freeze" and "Batgirl Returns." Rosy cheeks? Check! Bowl full of jelly? Check! In this special Christmas Eve edition of Dread Media, Desmond Reddick reviews classic slasher film, Silent Night, Bloody Night and the most bizarre zombie film you'll ever see: The Stink of Flesh. Plus: News galore! Don't forget to enter the Blood Car DVD giveaway. Christmas tunes include: "Silent Night, Deadly Night" by The Browns, "Silent Night" by Tom Waits, "Carol of the Bells" by Steve Moore, "Scary Little Christmas" by Spookhaus and "Dead Christmas" by Monster Magnet. 21. Movie trailers, the mess that is Spider-Man: One More Day, two errors in Mighty Avengers #6, stolen bras and video game systems, a bomb scare and The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters are all discussed by Jenny and Mike. [ 1:32:13 || 42.2 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_180.mp3
  22. The world has a fascination with things that suck. Allusions to the adult film industry aside, there's a "so bad, it's good" mentality that's pervading through our culture, the very same one that made Snakes on a Plane an Internet sensation and Celine Dion into a millionaire. I'll admit, I tend to dabble in the awful myself on occasion, shaking my head to the infectious pop grooves of Ashlee Simpson or laughing at the inoffensive preteen humor of That's So Raven, but, for the most part, I like to think that my tastes are more consistently on the side of "decent." There are those times, however, I just can't help it. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/dw/worst-games-01
  23. Back in the early 1990s Star Wars fans got a special treat: the reemergence of the Star Wars franchise. For what can be assumed were profit motives, Lucas allowed authors to continue the story beyond the movies, and gave exclusive rights to Dark Horse Comics to create the history of the Star Wars Universe. Well, like most fans back then I was hooked. I first picked up the novels, the Thrawn trilogy written by Timothy Zahn, and then followed up that storyline with the Jedi Academy series by Kevin J. Anderson. I only mention this in regards to the Dark Horse Star Wars Omnibus because Kevin J. Anderson was brought on by Dark Horse to write the bulk of the Tales of the Jedi run. 24. This week the guys cover Wolverine: Firebreak, Terror, Inc. #4, Cable and Deadpool #48, Ultimate X-Men #89 and three more comics. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-023
  25. Of the five comics Des and Mike reviewed this week (Foundation #1, The Incredible Hulk #112, Marvel Holiday Special 2007, Marvel Illustrated: The Iliad #1 and Wolverine: Origins #20), one was a surprise hit and another was ruined by the lettering. Which two are those, and what was said of the other three? Download the episode to hear our thoughts! [ 53:41 || 24.5 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_179.mp3
