  1. Born of carnival workers and steeped in 1960s B movies, Rob Zombie got his start in show business as a technician on the seminal show Pee-wee's Playhouse. From there he went on to form one of the most popular heavy metal bands of the 1980s and 90s: White Zombie. The band, named after a Bela Lugosi film, wore Zombie's fascination with horror films on their sleeve and produced four records before disbanding. Zombie later continued his multi-platinum success with his self-titled solo albums, but that too was set aside -- this time for films. In mere weeks, Zombie's re-imagined vision of Halloween, the classic John Carpenter film, will be released. In this very special director spotlight, the director himself will tell you about the forthcoming film and all things Zombie. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/reddick/reel-dread-43-1

  3. Jenny and Mike (well, Mike mostly) gush over the leaked Iron Man footage that was shown in San Diego this past weekend and briefly discuss The Dark Knight teaser trailer before jumping into the August Previews. 4. Bad things happen to Mike McGill (former police officer, current private detective, full-time "shit magnet"), and when the White House Chief of Staff visits him, Mike's tendency to walk into unfortunate situations becomes vital to fixing the diseased country America has become. McGill teams up with Trix, a polyamorous punk-goth, and attempts to track down the long-lost "real Constitution" of the United States, meeting a grotesquerie of characters on the way. 6. Early reviews of Ms. Marvel #18, She-Hulk #20, Uncanny X-Men #489 and more are featured this week! The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-004
  7. Is classic literature geeky? That's the question Mike asked of the audience before recording the weekly segment Is It Wednesday Yet? with Des. What did the duo think of the latest batch of comic books? You know how to find out. [ 1:07:33 || 30.9 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_131.mp3
  8. Science fiction and horror, despite popular consensus, don't often cross streams. Too often a guy with a sharp implement chases nubile young coeds through the halls of a space station. He is only bested when the hero locks himself and the killer in the air lock, and jettisons the both of them into the vacuum of space. It is then marketed as the strange little subgenre: horror / sci-fi. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/reddick/reel-dread-42
  9. Nerds date? Damn straight! Jenny had a lengthy chat with Bathsheba Birman and Julia Borcherts, organizers of Nerds at Heart. If you're wondering how a nerd like you can get a date, you'll want to listen to this episode. These ladies will also be at Wizard World Chicago, overseeing a Dating for Nerds gaming tournament. 10. Ian reviews all three (yes, three) Fantastic Four movies, and tosses in some comic book movie news to boot. Before that, however, Jenny and Mike discuss everything from their lack of interest in The Simpsons Movie to Mike's bursting desire to see The Dark Knight teaser trailer to haircuts. 12. "Night of the Ninja" explores a small portion of Bruce Wayne's shrouded youth. Nothing makes sense in "Cat Scratch Fever." Once the rogues appear, "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne" becomes a fun episode. The two-part "Heart of Steel" is remarkable for introducing Barbara Gordon, and for its otherworldly eeriness. And "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" finally introduces The Riddler. [ 1:10:35 || 32.3 MB ] The above is from: http://www.worldsfinestpodcast.com/episodes/wfp_007.mp3
  13. This week Des and Mike are joined by Tim Glancy and drqshadow as they review Heroes for Hire #12, Mighty Avengers #4, Spider-Man Fairy Tales #3, X-Men #201 and nine more comic books which won't be released until tomorrow (25 July 2007)! 14. It's Tuesday, so you know what that means; it's time for another rousing edition of Is It Wednesday Yet? by Des and Mike. What comics do they discuss this time? Answering would be telling, but here's a clue (in song form): "... does whatever a spider can." [ 1:01:30 || 28.1 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_128.mp3
  15. We've all seen it before: a group of high school friends on a post-graduation last hurrah embark on a road trip into the wilderness. After some marijuana is passed around and beer guzzled down (indulged by all except the reluctant, mentally scarred virgin, of course), the car gets a flat and the camera cuts to a nail belt being dragged across the road. Everyone is okay but nobody seems to know how to change a tire, so they wind up wandering through the middle of nowhere as they are picked off one by one by cannibalistic rednecks. Sound familiar? 16. Mike and Jenny hand the show over to Kellen, Randy and Steph who discuss the upcoming anime convention Ai-Kon 2007. [ 1:03:36 || 29.1 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_127.mp3
  17. Jenny and Mike roll out their thoughts on the live action Transformers movie. Did it have the touch, or was it a steaming pile in disguise? [ 1:23:58 || 38.4 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_126.mp3

  19. Here we are again with another installment of your favorite comic book review series. As always the four comics you're about to read about won't be released until tomorrow (18 July 2007), so these reviews are free of spoilers and should help inform your purchases on new comic book day. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/c/iiwy/iiwy-002
  20. There seems to be a theme to this batch of comic books, that being demons. We have gangsters being devoured by demons (The Darkness: Level 5), as well as demons wanting to molest goth girls (Hack/Slash: The Series #3). Superheroes (one of which is a demon) fight a few demons (Unholy Union), whilst a demon-schoolgirl fights even more demons (Witchblade Takeru Manga #6). That's a lot of demons! 21. In the late 1990s and early and 2000s, the best the American horror machine had to offer as far as popular cinema was formulaic redundancy. Sure, there were bright moments but for every American Psycho there were two dozen Scream ripoffs. It seemed Hollywood discovered that they could take a teenage actress (or a 30 year old playing a teen) from a popular television show, put her in a thin tank top and painted-on jeans and they had a hit. But across the Pacific, there was an entirely different scene going on. Japan's horror output was filled with horror masterpieces boasting ingenuity and style unmatched anywhere else. But this is not just a column about those films. This is a column about the influence those films had on the Hollywood zeitgeist. 22. Two months into Countdown and Des and Mike are no closer to discovering the truth behind the event, though theories are abound! In addition to Mary Marvel's panties and the erasure of "Superboy" from the DC lexicon, the duo discussed issues 47, 46, 45 and 44. 24. Before discussing the July Previews, Jenny and Mike chat about concerts and what makes one better than another. And Jenny seems to be confused about Van Halen. [ 57:02 || 26.1 MB ] The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_122.mp3
  25. Greetings one and all! I have come to realize that I have recorded 10 comic book movie reviews on Earth-2.net: The Show. Wanting to contribute more than just my British tones to the Earth-2.net franchise, I've decided to formulate my own Top 10 list of comic book movies. This will be a work in progress, as I have yet to review quite a few films in the comic book movie genre -- films from the Spider-Man and Batman franchises, for example. Therefore, let me compile my Reel-lief Reviews Top 10 for the first time. The above is from: http://www.earth-2.net/columns/wilson_i/comic-reel-lief-01
