  1. Thanks to the generosity of Will Ackerman, Christian Honoré, and Matthew McKinnon-Gray, Shana and Mike sat down to discuss how they'd remake Saved by the Bell. In their revamp, both the original cast and a new cast are utilized, there are drugs and death, implied handjobs, and even science fiction. No, really. Also, Mike slaps himself during the recording, because, you know, it's Saved by the Bell. Twilight

Almost a year ago, I sat through The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part One. That movie had a profound effect on me. I've sat through and loved some truly shitty movies, but I had never seen anything quite like that film. I had never seen a movie that truly and honestly hated it's core audience so much. Women flock to the Twilight movies, and these movies fucking hate them for it. Even the actors hate it. After seeing the fourth movie in the series, I made a solemn vow: I would go back to the beginning. I would watch these films, and I would figure out exactly what the hell is happening. This is the first attempt. This is Twilight. To read more, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/reviews/m/twilight.php
  3. Big Damn Heroes takes a break from its regularly scheduled broadcast to bring you the Zeppos Whedon Pilot Spectacular! Will covers the case of the multiple Willows, voiceovers about standing on tall buildings, and dooms us all by praising a Jeph Loeb work. All this and more after a word from our sponsors. 4. I'm going to level with you right now: there's been some lying going on on Animezing Podcast. Last time we said two weeks 'til the next episode, but it took three. This time we say two weeks again, but it will only be one. We also said there would be five episodes of Ouran High School Host Club ("Big Brother is a Prince!," "Honey's Three Bitter Days!," "Haruhi in Wonderland!," "Covering the Famous Host Club!," and "The Refreshing Battle in Karuizawa!"), but we decided on the fly to cover a sixth ("Operation Haruhi and Hikaru's First Date!"). Episode 265

It's a horror / sci-fi special this week on Dread Media! First up, Desmond and Darryll take a look at the recent British horror / sci-fi / adventure flick, Attack the Block. Then Devil Dinosaur Jr. reviews the 80s classic Night of the Creeps in a brand new Stay Scary. In a brand new and hopefully recurring venture, you, the listeners, have provided content for an audio montage of your favorite horror / sci-fi films. And lastly, in a completely unrelated review, Desmond tackles some girls and gore with Strippers vs. Werewolves. The first two listeners to email in will receive a Blu-ray copy of the film! And scary sci-fi tunes: "Attack the Block" by Talib Kweli, "Fix Up, Look Sharp" by Dizzee Rascal, "Another Girl, Another Planet" by The Only Ones, "Alien" by Pennywise, "Wolfjob" by The Meteors, and "Watch the Sky for Me" by Powerman 5000. 7. Dying in the Gutters returns! Again! And boy, are Chris and Desmond stoked to talk about three excellent comic books: Tomb of Dracula #28-30. But there's also the painfully maddening Giant-Size Dracula #3-4. Ugh. Marvel at Dracula's racism! Wonder at black guys in China with Japanese names! Be amazed as Dracula babysits! Seriously, ol' Vlad should probably not be working for Child Services. [ 1:00:28 || 29.2 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/dreadmedia/episodes/dreadmediapresents_034.mp3

Then, The Doctor, Rose, and Mickey must save Madame de Pompadour from futuristic robots ("The Girl in the Fireplace"). Topping all that off, there are lots of e-mails, barely any curses, and someone has a cold. 11. Though Shana and Mike love Moonstruck, they do disagree on one point. As they recast it, however, they agree on not one but two actors! Also, Mike's words come back to haunt him. Twice. Episode 34

Big Damn Heroes has hit episode 34, and, yeah, it's here kids. Thank to both Buffy and Angel, though not for the reasons you'd think on Angel, this is gonna be one hell of a depressing episode. There's no way around that. So sit down, get a pint of ice cream, and curl up with Hannah and Will as they cover Buffy's "I Was Made to Love You" and "The Body," and Angel's "Reprise" and "Epiphany." Episode 263

This episode of Dread Media must break you! Join us as we pay tribute to perhaps the most under-appreciated of action movie superstars: Dolph Lundgren. A trio of films are discussed this week, including Desmond and Darryll's much-requested review of The Punisher; Devil Dinosaur Jr.'s review of the rock and roll action flick directed by and starring Lundgren, Command Performance; and Desmond's biggest solo review on the show yet, the Blu-ray release of Red Scorpion. Listen to the end to find out who won the Penpal prize pack! There's tunes too: "Breakdown" by D2, "Punishment" by Biohazard, "Coup d'Etat" by The Circle Jerks, "Kiss of the Scorpion" by Monster Magnet, and "A Little Less Conversation" by Dolph Lundgren! 16. What do you get when you mix a less-than-sober tweet with two transatlantic replies? This four-hour episode! Today, Mike is joined by the Shake and Blake team of Ian Wilson and Dave Probert to discuss Warren Beatty's 1990 adaptation of Dick Tracy! And make sure to listen to the entire show, because there are four minutes of outtakes! (Notes: This episode was recorded months ago, so there is a rather dated reference to The Dark Knight Rises. Also, please pardon the Skype hiccups.) [ 4:02:50 || 116.8 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_560.mp3

  19. As you may be able to tell from the album artwork, things get weird as Kellen and Will continue to cover Ouran High School Host Club. "The Grade School Host is the Naughty Type!" shows that the third music room comes with a suspended steel cage, "Jungle Pool SOS!" has man-eating crocodiles roaming free at a leisure resort, "The Sun, the Sea, and the Host Club!" has multiple near-rape scenes, "A Challenge from Lobelia Girls' Academy!" has feminist Nazis (RE: the artwork), and "A Day in the Life of the Fujioka Family!" introduces Haruhi's father (trust me, this also falls under weird). Episode 262

In an episode dedicated to the brand new found-footage anthology film V/H/S, the Dread Media team presents a solo interview with contributing director David Bruckner, and a second interview with Adam Wingard (director of the wraparound sequence), Simon Barrett (writer of the wraparound sequence), and producers Roxanne Benjamin and Brad Miska. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. reviews Adam Wingard's Pop Skull in a brand new Stay Scary. Stick around for news on Dathan Auerbach's Penpal giveaway. Tunes included: "TV Casualty" by The Misfits, "Radio/Video" by System of a Down, "Tractor" by Monster Magnet, "This House Is Haunted" by Alice Cooper, and "Run For Your Life" by The Creepshow. 23. Even though Mike enjoys The Crow for what it is, he has to agree with Shana that substance was neglected for style. Also, they can't help but wonder the following things: What was Top Dollar trying to accomplish, why was he sleeping with his sister, did Darla's transformation not stick, and why were Eric and Shelly friends with a child? To answer those questions in their remake, the plot is rewritten, new casts are assembled, characters are completely dropped, and relationships are reworked. You're either going to love this episode, or you're going to come at us with pitchforks. Hopefully the former. 25. On this day five years ago, James created a monster the likes of which he curses every day: the Tranquil Tirades. In this, the fifth anniversary special of the Tirades, James decides to take a few more years off of his brain's life by going back over every bad movie he has reviewed, ranking them from "pretty bad" to "revolver-to-the-temple awful." Enjoy. He sure as hell didn't. Music in this episode: "Everybody Get Dangerous" by Weezer (the Tranquil Tirades opening song), "Take the Long Way Home" by Bloodhound Gang, "Gotta Get Away" by The Offspring, "Duality" by Slipknot, and "Thnks fr th Mmrs" by Fallout Boy.
