1. It's day two of the Earth-2.net: The Show 2012 Advent Calendar, and today you'll hear This is My Best: The Plot to Overthrow Christmas, as written by Norman Corwin and starring Orson Welles. [ 36:00 || 17.6 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_577.mp3
2. New to Earth-2.net: The Show, Dan and Wendee discuss the 1959 short story "Flowers for Algernon" in this, the first episode of Books Without Pictures! Also, Mike make a major announcement about Earth-2.net: The Show, and begins paying back those who donated to the Shameless Pledge Drive. 3. In "There's No Way I'll Ever Regret It," Sayaka gets her butt kicked by Kyoko, the new girl in town. In "This Just Can't Be Right," Homura appears to get through to her just a little bit. "Can You Face Your True Feelings?" sees Kyoko expressing and articulating to Sayaka why she feels how she does. And "I Was Stupid, So Stupid" shows Kyoko being there for Sayaka in her moment of need. Aside from this classic tale of the misunderstood bully, some really fucked up shit occurs in these four episodes. Par for the course in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. 4. I went to the theater today, and I saw a remarkable film. Minutes after the lights had gone out, I was thrilled, shocked, and genuinely worried for the characters on the screen. But like all good things, the trailer for Iron Man 3 had to end and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part Two had to begin. This film is the finale of the Twilight juggernaut. Will Bella and Edward be okay? Will Jacob find love? Will any of the interesting characters be given anything to do, at all? Will anyone be even a third as likable as Billy Burke? (Spoilers: Yes, yes, no, and hell no.) Also, this review will contain spoilers about everything, because this movie was terrible and you need to know why. 5. Today, Mike presents two Read-Along Adventures adapting cult classics from the 1980s: The Dark Crystal and The Black Cauldron! [ 35:29 || 17.4 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_575.mp3
6. Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters is widely considered a cinematic classic, but Shana and Mike find there aren't enough of the sisters, especially Hannah, and too much Woody Allen. And, in an effort to better understand Allen's motivations, Shana digs into 19th century Russian theater. 11. Will Ackerman brings you the second Zeppos Special, and it's time to talk about Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men. Will gushes, wonders why Wolverine is in this book, and names the MVP character of the run. All this and a little talk about Whedon's work on the original X-Men movie. It's less glowing than the other part of the review. [ 34:53 || 17.2 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/bigdamnheroes/episodes/bigdamnheroes_special_002.mp3

Episode 273

This week's Dread Media is a little lighter than usual, but that's okay because the content is full of beefy badassery. First up, Duane and Desmond take a look at the early Tom Hardy vehicle by the director of Drive and Valhalla Rising: Bronson. Then Devil Dinosaur Jr. covers a film starring the real Charles Bronson: The Stone Killer. Meaty testosterone-driven tunes for you this week: "The Prisoner" by Suicidal Tendencies, "Nice" by Sick of it All, "The Badge" by Pantera, and "Lady Deathwish" by 3 Inches of Blood. 14. This month, Will examines spinoffs and crossovers. What is the most spun-off show of all time, why should you be wary if a new character steals the focus of an entire episode for no reason, and what does an autistic kid with a snow globe have to do with any of this? We apologize for any head explosions that may result from listening to this podcast. [ 1:02:51 || 30.5 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_572.mp3
15. Kellen is joined by Hannah Krueger for the first of a trio of episodes discussing a fantastic twist on the Magical Girl genre: Puella Magi Madoka Magica. In the first episode, the pair review the first four episodes ("I First Met Her in a Dream, or Something...," "That Would Be Truly Wonderful," "I'm Not Afraid of Anything Anymore," and "Miracles and Magic Are Real") of what Hannah lovingly calls "The show that broke Kellen." Episode 23

Dave and Ian continue to make their way through the final season of Blake's 7. In "Traitor," Tarrant and Dayna are sent to investigate how the Federation is expanding so quickly. They discover that a new drug and an old enemy are responsible. In "Stardrive," the crew come to the conclusion that the Scorpio's engine sucks and decide to get a new one. Unfortunately the one they have their eye on is in the possession of the psychotic Space Rats and their improbable hair. They also ask important questions like, which character had their worst week ever between episodes? Why does the Scorpio have a rear viewscreen? And how do you get a crash helmet over a foot-high mohawk? [ 2:07:20 || 61.6 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/shakeandblake/episodes/shakeandblake_023.mp3

Episode 272

It's a double shot of Desmond, Jeff, and Luke this week with a little bit of Stay Scary added in for flavor! First, the trio review the backwoods gore-tastic sequel Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines. Devil Dinosaur Jr. steps in to discuss the sci-fi lycanthrope film from 1956, The Werewolf. The trio returns to look at the straight-to-video feature Airborne. Hot young sheriffs, post-apocalyptic inoculations gone wrong, and Mark Hamill really letting himself go are just a few topics of discussion this week. Join in! Tunes: "Wrong Turn" by The Young Werewolves, "Five" by Machine Head, "Wolfman Boy" by Treebeard, "When the Planes Fall from the Sky" by Monster Magnet, and "American Werewolf in Calgary" by The Browns. 20. Just over three years ago, in episode 339 of Earth-2.net: The Show, Des and Mike sat down to speculate on what a Disney-run Marvel would look like. And now that Disney has purchased Lucasfilm, Dan and Mike do the same for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. [ 55:05 || 26.7 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/theshow/episodes/e2ts_570.mp3
21. Chances are you've never heard of Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael, a little gem from 1990 starring Winona Ryder and Jeff Daniels. 23. Greetings Earthlets, and welcome to the first bumper-sized edition of Shot Glass of Rocket Fuel, my new 2000 AD review series. For those of you who aren't familiar with 2000 AD, it's a sci-fi anthology title created in 1977, back when the year 2000 seemed like a long way off and a children's anthology title wasn't expected to last quite that long. Episode 37

This week, Big Damn Heroes has managed to hit 37 episodes, and, with it, the second season of Angel is finally over. This may be one of the shorter episodes in BDH history too, because Will and Hannah just don't have much to say. But at least they will do the dance of joy! Join them as they cover "Belonging," "Over the Rainbow," "Through the Looking Glass," and "There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb." (Good luck pronouncing that one, kids.)
