    The Vinyl Underground

I checked out the preview on DCcomics.com and was totally unimpressed. A Vertigo book with enough gall to have a character named Morrison whose nickname is Mr. Filth had better be damned good. It was not. It looked subpar to me.

Wow. I didn't know that was possible. The utter crap they have been front-loading this event with has turned me off of ever enjoying anything with the name "Annihilation" attached to it. Marvel is becoming a place I don't enjoy anymore. The cosmic stuff was what I used to like the most.
  3. Exactly. Longer than that. Essentially, the studios can put the ball in the court of the WGA and end scripted television for good until they decide to come back. The re-runs and movies TV distributors already own can more than fill a season or two. Not to mention all of the new reality shows we'll see in the coming months. I'm actually enjoying Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares... The studios have the resources to hold out indefinitely. They can bankrupt the entire city of Hollywood and the film industry in America and come out unscathed. That's the problem. It's a strike that cannot be won.
  4. In 88 they went out for 22 weeks plunging the majority of Hollywood into a mini Depression. Think about everybody from Directors down to waiters and valet parkers who depend on a working writing class. It's naive to think it would only last a week. My prediction: they will break after a few months and this season will be written off. Look for things like Heroes, Chuck and Journeyman to be gone next season. All new shows this season look to be burned from the get go. Something like Lost might benefit from this as they will just have a no-go or a late seaseon...season. I'm totally interested, however, in the boom of undistributed studio projects (ie: purchased independent films) to hit theatres soon. Stuf that the studio is sitting on might get green lit for release much sooner. Like Trick R Treat ( a Halloween-themed film slated for release in February). Call me an asshole and unsupportive of my union brothers, but I'm actually excited by what this strike might cause.

Illuminati, we knew it was going to happen but it was done in such an epic way that it worked very very well. Astonishing: definitive fanboy moment solidifying why Cyclops isn't a pussy like everyone else writes him to be. Annihilation: couldn't excite me if I was writing this book.
  6. You're on the mark with this one! JSA, JLA vs. GLC, WW, Outsiders. Me likey. Plus, Superman and Grant Morrison makes me smile any day.

    Episode 10

Thanks Keith, why so partial? I've been meaning to check the CD out. Is it available digitally? I don't buy CDs anymore, just mp3s. Regardless, Greg has to be respected for one of the most tenacious marketing campaigns I've ever seen.
  8. "Power or 1000 exploding suns" or "Power of exaggerated power". Dude got owned by Ultron and last time I checked Ultron is merely a very advanced robot that does not possess the power of any exploding suns. Methinks the Sentry's game is severely overrated. Agreed. And I'm glad. I like him but I don't want him to have godlike power.
  9. Even the mighty Galactus fears Shark Repellant Batspray!
  10. I'd like to see Silver Surfer pull out some Bat Shark Repellent!
  11. Check out Brian K Vaughn's site for his perspective and what it means for Lost.
  12. Funny how the "rushed" shots for Comicon looked better than any flying in a superhero movie ever. I can't wait for this goddamn movie!
  13. Not the biggest fan of this set but Simonson and Larsen on New Gods made me smile... No room for Grant Morrison in your grand scheme as of yet? Hmmph...
  14. Well call me scab! Seriously...I don't need DVD rights. Work for hire, baby!

It's no secret that Illuminati #5 is going to be big. I know which one it isn't...
  16. I'm kind of meh on X-Factor and Astonishing is something I don't even consider a part of the regular X line. When or if they do add it, I'll drop it.
  17. Well done! Nice to see I am not wrong about Messiah Complex. What a mess Marvel's X office is in. Drq's quote sums up the entire line perfectly for me: "great creative minds coming together to underachieve in unison."
  18. This sucks. I wanted to see what Eli Roth could do on network TV.
  19. I have to say that I don't like Fables. It took me 50 or so issues to figure that out so I think they've been treadiong water for some time now. The early stuff is fun but loses steam by about 20 issues later. I'll echo sentiments on Cap, Daredevil, Walking Dead and Mighty Avengers. I think Savage Dragon is one of the most consistently fun books on the market. Johns is doing some great stuf with the Sinestro Corps War over in the GL books as of late but maybe pick up the trades on that one (because I think they exclude the villain oneshots which kind of make you feel like you're paying to be bludgeoned over the head with a steel pipe full of cottage cheese). Issue 50 is a good jumping on point and a return to form for the Teen Titans which has been wallowing in shite since Johns left. All-Star Superman is the best comic book being made today period.

Paving the way for Annihilation: Destructo Crapola! The event that introduces the world to Jubilation Lee, Herald of Galactus.
  21. My understanding is if this does well, the studio will allow the directors to go the "space marine" route they wanted to go in the first place.
  22. That looks freaking great!
