  1. They had absolutely zero character. "I'm Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots. Ironhide likes to blow stuff up. Ratchet can tell if you're horny. This is Jazz, the black guy. And you already know Bumblebee... he can't talk." That was it in terms of characterization.

So it's like every other Michael Bay film then? Imagine that!:)

  2. Just makes me wish that Jones was on the CD covers.

In my mind, I see a bit of a paring down by looking at what might constitute a future rendition of JLA.

  3. Ok...

After listening to Rue Morgue Radio this week where they interviewed the film I have to say I'm going to see it and report it in all its glory for you folks.

Feedback and Chris Alexander (incidentally one of the fellows Uwe Boll beat the crap out of in Vancouver last year) went through much of the film and my interest is piqued. They seem to think it goes beyond retarded into the poignant. The pre-title sequence is a group of Arab terrorists in the cockpit of a plane who, after arguing about how many virgins they'll receive in the afterlife (99 or 100) and whether or not they'll have to share him, they decide to turn the plane around and vacation in Florida just as the heroic passengers burst through the cabin door and bum rush the terrorist after their change of mind. That plane hits the World Trade Center.

I HAVE to see this film. Something so gloriously offensive at least deserves my rental. And apparently Verne Troyer gets anally gang raped by an army of chimps and Uwe Boll plays himself and claims his films are funded with Nazi gold.

    Radical to say the least.

  4. Once I'm finished with that, I'll be reading Lolita for The Modern Reader's Paradigm over on the Oratory. I've also got Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House waiting to be read.

Both are brilliant! If you like Dan Simmons, try "Carrion Comfort" which has to be the best vampire novel ever written next to I Am Legend.

  5. Patton also came out with an album called Peeping Tom in the last year or so, which I dug.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that one. A great album but for me, it was a little too hyped up in my mind. It was years in the making. Although I find it kind of cool that that whole collaborative process was done by people who for the most part never saw each other. They just emailed tracks back and forth.

  6. I’ve really gotten into Mike Patton’s work in the past year or so. I haven’t heard much of Tomahawk, but I’ve enjoyed most of his other work, and I want to hear how a mixture of traditional Native American music with metal and jazz would sound.

Did you hear that Patton provided his voiceover for the new first person shooter The Darkness? He does the voice of The Darkness itself, so I’m guessing he’ll be doing his full repertoire of grunts and growls.

No I did not know that. If I had any time for video games I'd be all over that but sadly I do not...

    Other great Patton albums:

-California by Mr. Bungle (especially the song "Retrovertigo")

    -Director's Cut by Fantomas

-Music to make love to your old lady by by Lovage (Handsome Boy Modeling School featuring Dan the Automator and a slew of others)

There are many others too but these are good starts.

  7. I'm currently picking up The Physics of Superheroes chapter by chapter but I wanted to mention that Bill Bryson's autobiography "Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" is fucking brilliantly funny and I"m only one chapter in.

I also just finished Stephen King's "Cell" and it's got to be the best thing he's written in over a decade. He went downhill after Needful Things with very few moments that come up for air but this book was great. Probably has something to do with the fact that it's only 350 pages (1/3 the regular page count).

    What are YOU reading?
