  1. I miss my iPhone... I'm gonna wat until a new one is announced though to get it again. Hopefully whenever they announce a new version of hardware they'll have a more MP camera.

This is news to me, what happened to your old iPhone?

long story... short version is couldn't afford the service anymore.

Aw, that sucks. Have you gotten a touch to replace the void?

  3. Finally got around to Jailbreaking my phone. It's only 6 months old, so still under warranty, but the upside was worth doing. Here are my thoughts after about 2 weeks of use with it set free.

    1. Lock Screen Info

This app costs about $5.99 on the Jailbreak appstore called Cydia, but is well worth it. As you can see it lists calendar, weather, missed calls/sms/emails (actually showing the start of the messages). The background also changes with the time of day, which is cool, if not a little pointless, hehe.

    2. Themes

    IMG_0221.png

This is my home screen of the phone. Sure, it's not really fancy, but I like the duo-tone style feel of it. I'm still playing around and it is a pain in the butt making the new icons for the downloaded apps, but the good things in life should be a bit tough.

    3. Unlocked Usage Restrictions

I've added an app that allows me to download any size file from iTunes or Appstore. If I'm paying my provider for 750mb a month of usage, I'm going to use it how I damn well feel like, none of this 10mb limit stuff. And a lot of my podcasts I like to listen to aren't that much bigger than 10mb anyway

    4. Custom Sounds

Making full songs a ringtone, changing from the default 8 sms and email alert tones is fantastic. Too many people in the office have iPhones so it's good to be able to know which alert is mine

    5. USB HDD

Being able to use that spare space on my 32gig for disk storage is a fantastic feature. I can either use a USB cable or even connect to it through SSH on my wifi network, which is pretty cool.

I'm still tweaking things as I go, but so far pretty happy that I have done it, as it allows me to make it more mine. And personally, most of the things I've listed should be standard on the thing anyway.

Are you going to tether your phone? Assuming you have a laptop.

  4. We've had a lot of birthday threads in a short period. Can some of you space your birthdays out so its more suitable for the board?

Yeah Doug, this is all your fault! :P

    Happy birthday!

Pssh, What are you talking about?! I thought you were the scapegoat.

Is that David Tennant with cake and a gift?!

Actually, that's Morrissey. I think the comic's title is "Don't Invite Morrissey to Your Birthday Party."

But he can be whoever Doug (or you) wants him to be.

When I first saw him, I thought of the fonz. But he does look like David Tennant.

Anyway, Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

  5. Welcome to the old dude club.

I thought the old dude club was after 40? lol

Nope, ask anyone under 20 and they'll tell you 30 is the old line.

Wrong: I do not think 30 is old. 40 is the beginning of the old dude club.

  6. thanks everyone 4 the birthday wishes... unfortunately presents and stuff will be late. That's ok though, and I'll get my DQ cake tomorrow woohoo.

Happy birthday Mike. You know, this week is good week for birthdays. Four day weekends are the best.

  7. I dunno. Enter Sandman is just about their most accessible song and it didn't blow him away, so I figure the older stuff may be a safer bet.

Kill Em All had a strong guitar acoustics and vocals, and interested me in the band, but I wasn't blown away.

It depends on what tastes you like, Doug.

Speed thrash? Kill 'Em All (and "Whiplash" is my favorite KEA tune)

    Fast-paced hard rock? "Fuel"

Something more melodic? "Until It Sleeps"

Instrumental? "Orion" or "The Call of Ktulu"

Fuel had a very stong opening, but its not my type of rock. Until it Sleeps was more up my alley, but again I wasn't satisfied. The vocals threw me off. At this point my hopes of liking the band were pretty low... until I listened to Orion. Wow. Just Wow.

  8. -I had three chances today, But none of them were quite right. Gr.

-Got into a "fight" and the administration knows it happened, just not the people who were involved. Lets hope it stays this way.

-While driving home just now, I saw the for sale sign on my best girl friends house. Something was different about it though. It sold.

    Three chances at what?

    Asking this girl out.

  10. I'm thinking of jailbreaking my iPhone so I can add some dynamic theme features to it (and use the disk space as storage.

Has anyone here tried it and what was your view?

Does anyone wonder why Apple don't open it up more to themes, would they make a killing selling themes on itunes for even 50c, enough kids would do it. It just seems like an untapped market?

Personally, I would never jailbreak my ipod touch because it voids the warranty, and I'm a straight shooter ;). If your warranty is done though, go ahead and try it. Post results!

  11. im on. its kind of weird looking, super bright. but its okay for a substitute for ustream for any reason.

Defiantly, This should just be used for very spur of the moment events.
