  1. That wasn't a slam against you saying day, it was advice on how to get on the nerves of people who try to make you feel like crap.

Sorry, I worded my post badly. I was just noticing, that after reading your post that instead of writing job, I had written day again. I really should have taken a new paragraph to differentiate the two things.

  2. Trying to get caught up on Dexter, and I just finished season 4.

So happy to see LaGuerta get killed. I hated that woman. I don't see how it helps him though, since she disappeared right after accusing him of being the Bay Harbor Butcher. Interesting that they left Hannah alive. I wonder if she'll be back for season 5 or if they try to spin her into her own show. Really, the only person that deserves a happy ending is Angel. He's a good cop surrounded by bad ones.

That sounds like you just watched Season 7. Season 4 is the Trinity Killer season.

  3. Just remember, if they need to take the extra time to make your life hell to make theirs better, then their life sucks and you can make it suck more by just smiling and commenting on how great a day you're having every single time you see them.

That's true, I also just noticed I said "Day" twice in my previous post I really should check things that I type up before posting them. Perhaps I should post a vent of my entire 2013 so far, as I'm sure for someone outside of the situation, it'd be an interesting read. I just don't want to come across as someone who just constantly feels sorry for themselves.

  4. A lot to go through, as this is about a months worth of trades, so apologies, these will likely just be one sentence comments.

Simpsons Comics: Unchained: A fun, mixed bag of Simpsons stories.

Simpsons Comics: Madness: Another fun collection of Simpsons stories.

Haunted Gotham: What if Bruce's parents died after training him to be Batman for about ten years. Pretty terrible, the first two issues are fine, but then it devolves into a by the numbers revenge story.

Golden Dawn: David Finch is an ok artist, but a terrible writer. This story is about someone from Bruce's past, but doesn't really make much sense.

Knight Terrors: Better art from Finch, and with the help of an extra writer, this books just about average. The book really exists just for Finch to draw at least one Batman villain per issue.

Dark Knight Dynasty: Batmen from different eras, all pretty bland.

Batman VS Robin: Grant Morrison's story of Thomas Wayne and the black glove makes a lot more sense if you read it out of order, which is strange. Overall, an enjoyable read.

Ultimate Avengers; Crime and Punishment: Fun, but only took about fifteen minutes to read.

Big Noise: Batman/Superman story, which is just sort of there.

Avengers: Breakout: The Avengers come together again to thwart a super villain prison riot. Fun, but was better executed in the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon.

Batman: Through the looking Glass: Ok art, terrible story. it just seemed to go on forever, about nothing, and again, another story about a girl from Bruce's past. How many kids was Bruce best friends with? Seriously, this has got to be like the fifth life long best friend of his.

Batman/Superman: Torment: I can't remember anything about this. So, like most Superman/Batman stories, ok, but not great.

X-Men: Cruelest Cut: Fun but forgettable.

Captain America: Prisoner of War: Pretty good, Bucky is in a Russian prisoner, where they try and break him down. Good, but disappointing that the story ends in Fear Itself and not in the Captain America series.

Uncanny X-Men: breaking point: Kieron Gillens X-Men run seems to be really fun, with the exception of his Fear Itself tie-in.

Uncanny X-Men by Kieron Gillen: Volume 1: Cyclops is a real prick.

Logan: Background of Wolverine from World War 2. Fun, but really short.

Fear Itself: Spider-Man: Crap. Nice art, crap story.

Fear Itself: X-Men: I really didn't like Fear Itself, and these tie-ins were pretty terrible too.

Captain America By Brubaker Volume 1: Interesting read, but kind of just ends.

Chaos War: I haven't read much Hercules before, but after reading this, I want to look out more. The best comic I've read in a while, with several laugh out loud moments.

Enemy Within: Three, three issue mini-series for Venom that were back to back, featuring a popular character in a team up with the character. All, ok, but not great.

X-Men: Lovelorn. Boring, not bad, but just, boring.

Batman: The last Arkham: So Batman is put into Arkham Asylum to find out about how someone is escaping to murder people in Gotham. Fun, but just sort of ends on a nothing note.

Planet Hulk: Awesome. i really enjoyed it. I never really cared for the Hulk before, and now I want to read some more of his stories.

World War Hulk: Hulk comes back to Earth to get revenge on the heroes of Earth, specifically the Illuminati. Interesting read, the heroes come across as incredibly arrogant here. Mostly good art by JRJR but some pages just feel incomplete.

    Trades: 111
    Comics: 17
    Omnibus: 4
  5. So i didn't get the job I had a horrible interview for, which is fine because I didn't want it at this point. We're they going to call me to tell me this? No. I had to go through a friend at the company to find out.

I mean, that's just hugely disrespectful. Fuck em.

It's always shocking to me, how many companies do that these days. The very least they can do is let you know.

  6. It'll be interesting to see what kind of performance he gets out of McConaughey, because that dude is a horseshit actor.

I don't know, he made me believe Sarah Jessica Parker could be attractive and sort out a guys troubles in failure to launch, and he showed Kate Hudson how hard it is to lose a guy in ten days. And he made me believe that Tivo was the be all and end all of an actors world in Tropic Thunder.

  7. Until DC dumped Kevin Maguire from Justice League 3000, I was actually going to buy that book on a monthly basis. Now, maybe I'll check it out in trade somewhere down the line. Then again, maybe not; for my money, Howard Porter is not a trade up from Maguire.

Have you read the update, with a response from Maguire? According to Maguire, DC wanted a dark and gritty book.

  8. Fight Club, yes. It's a great film. If you have Netflix, it's worth a rental.

Off the top of my head, I've never seen Twelve Monkeys all the way through, just been going in and out of it at random points, but never enough to actually get the full story.

Terminator: Salvation: I tried watching it, but it sucked. Then I somehow saw the bits with Arnold and then the end of the film, and that also sucked.

  9. It seems like with a lot of his "bad" movies (Green Lantern, RIPD, etc), people always cite Reynolds as a bright spot in the midst of crap.

He always does his best, but the problem is, a film with a terrible script, will always be a terrible film, no matter how hard the actors try to make it work.

  10. ASDA, Wal-Mart's UK arm, has announced they will no longer be stocking Wii U games, or consoles, in store, but will continue online.

Asda will no longer stock Wii U hardware and software in store, it has been revealed.

The retailer will continue to stock Wii U systems and games online, but not throughout its 555 UK outlets.

Asda confirmed the news in a number of statements to CVG, revealing that the company would continue to support Nintendo as a format partner on a title-by-title basis.

"Asda continues to offer customers a selection of Wii U games and accessories through Asda Direct, but these ranges are currently not on offer in Asda shops," reads the first statement.

"Asda will stock [Wii U] games on a title-by-title merit basis as they come along through Asda Direct. We will continue to support Nintendo as a format holder partner."

Nintendo responded by highlighting some of the upcoming releases for Wii U, as well as Pikmin 3 and New Super Luigi U, which today entered the Top 20 sales chart.

"Nintendo UK does not comment on specific business practices with individual retailers," reads Nintendo's statement.

"However, as we have seen with Nintendo 3DS, software sells hardware, and with titles such as Wonderful 101, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World already announced for this year - as well as the recently released Pikmin 3 and New Super Luigi U having reached number 2 and number 6 in this week's chart respectively - we are looking forward to the year ahead on Wii U."

Asda has also suspended 3DS hardware and software from sale in store, despite the handheld's popularity.

Unveiled during this year's E3 conference, Super Mario 3D World will be released this December.

  11. I would love to come for one of the meet ups. But due to my current situation, and the fact that I need to make it around a week trip to justify going all the way to Chicago, I don't think I'm going to meet any of you any time soon
