  1. Will there be pictures of you and your friends?

And no, that's not the perverted Mike coming through. I'm simply curious to see the costumes, especially the Hawkgirl.

I'm not sure. It is a party and I am sure there will be a few pictures being taken. I may or may not be in them. I have made an art of avoiding cameras of any kind.

  2. Since my Halloween costume is not work appropriate, I had to be content with my light up pumpkin earrings, which hurt after eight hours. However, a bunch of friends and I are going to a Halloween party, which we decided to go to dressed as superheroes. Now a dear friend of mine had her heart set on being Hawkgirl, so I have passed the baton to her for this year. So this year, I will be dressing up as the blond bombshell herself. No, not Marilyn Monroe, but...

    Black Canary.

I've got the blond wig, fishnets, high heeled boots, black choker, black leotard and short leather jacket. If I had a motorcycle license, believe me I would be riding a motorcycle to the party.

  3. On the topic of characters to never show up in the DCAU:

    Jay Garrick

    Black Adam

    Black Mask

    Hector Hammond

    Parallax

    Resurrection Man

    Shado

    Judomaster

    Damage

    Anti-Monitor

I'm sure a few others from the JSA

Jay Garrick appears in the JLU tie in comic. It is issue #12, which is called "Old School". It should be remembered that the spirit of Jay Garrick makes it into the Justice League episode "Legends" in the form of The Streak. Guy Gardner also appears in issue #32 entitled "Big Guns". A host of other characters such as Adam Strange, The Phantom Stranger, The Spectre, Gypsy, Firestorm, The Blue Beetle, The Freedom Fighters, Mary Marvel, Blue Devil, Black Lightning, and even Detective Chimp all appear in the tie in comic for JLU. Many others from the various DC properties make an appearance in the comics, even is they were not in the shows.

  4. Also, I don't think Batman looks anything like the Adam West Batman.

Where I think that Batman looks like Adam West Batman is in the way the eyes are shaded on the cowl. It looks very similar to those purple highlights, eyebrows I daresay, that were on the Adam West Batman cowl. That, however, that is my opinion.

  5. Just to add more evidence to Teen Titans being in continuity, in the Teen Titans episode "Lightspeed", the Kid Flash episode, it features a Lightspeed Energy Bar, the same energy bar which Flash advertises in the Justice League episode "Eclipsed".

  6. A thought about the memorial service for Virgil's mother. Support groups set up to help people through the process of grief in some cities sometimes hold services for the victims of violent crime on a specific date. The families gather and comfort each other and talk about the loved one they lost. Maybe one such service was being held not just for Virgil's mother, but for all victims of violent crime in Dakota. The video that Pops and Sharon were making might have been part of a massive video featuring special moments in the lives of the victims that would have been playing throughout the service.

Either that or it was the one year anniversary of Mrs. Hawkins' death and the Hawkins family and friends were gathering once again to remember Mrs. Hawkins.

    Anyway just a thought.

    Good show guys!

  7. A thought occurred to me while I was listening to the episode.

Susan being The Doctor's granddaughter and presumably a Time Lord conceivably has the ability to regenerate just like The Doctor. So why has she not made appearances in the series aside from The Five Doctors special. It need not be Carole Ann Ford reprising the role of Susan, since The Doctor looks different every time he regenerates, nor does Susan need to be a regular member of the cast, but every once in a while she pops up and joins The Crew on an adventure. It might add an interesting dynamic to the series having an original character, aside from The Doctor, make an appearance or two and see the consequences of a return of Susan.

Anyway, this is just a weird thought I had while I was listening to the podcast. Keep up the good work gentlemen.

  8. The Jade Dragon from World's Finest being passed down from generation to generation was not the case. Alfred has a line that says that The Jade Dragon was carved 30 years ago and has passed through a series of owners (not necessarily related) who have all met with premature deaths. This prompts Batman to explain that this "jade" is giving off low levels of radiation.

The Jade Dragon being carved 30 years ago fits in the time line of Superman: The Animated Series since Clark is probably in his thirties at the time. Therefore this is not a plot hole in the movie, because there is no mention of generations, but a series of owners. Likely when one of these owners died, The Jade Dragon ended up at an auction house and was sold, in which the next owner would meet an unfortunate end. Since auction houses generally have catalogs of what is being sold, this could have been what Alfred was using as a reference, which he shows Batman. Recall also that Joker and Harley break into an antique shop to steal The Jade Dragon in the first place.

  9. Not so much a vent I suppose, but I've come to the decision that if I'm not able to improve my life in some significant way between now and my 25th birthday (October), I'm getting the fuck out of Maryland and starting over. There's really nothing here for me anymore, and I hate this feeling of being on a treadmill and never advancing anywhere, no matter how much I work.

Right now, Alaska and London are my top choices. Alaska for the weather and lack of sunlight, London because, well, if I need to explain that one, kill yourself.

Come to Alaska. Move to Anchorage.

  10. I love Jack Kirby's The Demon and I am very much looking forward to The Demon review for Thursday. Aside from the Demon, I don't know much else about Kirby's creations, so I am interested to learn more about them and possibly add them to my collection.

  11. My brother leaves for Marine Corps Boot Camp tomorrow. I will not see him again until about late August or September. He will come home for awhile, then be shipped off to God knows where. It will be a long time before I will see him again after that.

  12. Then ask about what her plans for the weekend are (I am assuming that the concert is a weekend event). Tell her about her your plans to attend the concert and study her reaction. If she shows interest in the band playing, use that to open the doorway of asking her to go to the concert.

  13. Take a deep breath Mike.

I agree with Venneh. Try starting the conversation by mentioning a song you heard on the radio that struck a cord with you and ask her what she thinks. If this is a workplace situation, turn on the radio and ask if she has a station preference. That would give you an indication on her musical tastes, without making the situation awkward.

  14. I am re-reading The Science of Sherlock Holmes: From Baskerville Hall to the Valley of Fear, the Real Forensics Behind the Great Detective's Greatest Cases. by E.J. Wagner

It is a fascinating book going though the history of forensic science while tying it into the cases of Sherlock Holmes.
