  1. I was randomly thinking about this earlier today. When was the last time a face won the title for the first time in a straight one-on-one match? Punk at MITB wouldn't count as he was a former WHC. Nearest I can figure is Rob Van Dam at One Night Stand in 06. Did I miss anything?

  2. Spider-Man: Reign - Shit. Moving along.

Teen Titans: A Kids Game - I liked it. I felt like I got enough of what happened at the end of Young Justice to not be lost. The superheros fight at the end was a little forced, but it was still nifty to Nightwing be the one to end it.

Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher - Yeah, not a fan of zombies. Might not call them zombies, but they are fucking zombies.

Avengers/X-Men: Maximum Security - Needless crossover that reads very awkwardly in collected form. And the art sucks, lowlight being the Captain America issue.

X-Men: Fairy Tales & Spider-Man: Fairy Tales - Hit of miss. Don't think each needed their own mini tho. Seems like they could have just done a Marvel Fairy Tales mini and been done with it.

Uncanny X-Men: Sisterhood - I was lost. Unlike the Titans book, I was not given any context as to what the hell was going on. All I know is this was after the move to San Fransisco. And the character blurbs got annoying after a while.

Uncanny X-Men First Class: Feared and Hated - Nice little story that I think is out of continuity.

Spider-Man: The Other - I liked it enough, but it seemed to lack a villain of the story. I see how it was designed to get Peter from A to B, but it lacked something.

Spider-Man & Red Sonja - Amazed that there was a mini in 2008 based of an issue of Marvel Team-Up (which is a series I love). But, this felt totally unneeded. I am not really a sword and sorcery type of guy so I don't really care for Sonja which didn't help.

Trades: 14 (in the last three weeks.)

  3. Been watching "The Crow: City of Angels" on Netflix. It is so, so bad that I have been having a fun little time with it. It is full of 90s cheese and cliches. After the godawful (and not fun) first episode (a god awful PG re-imagining of the movie), the show has settled into the standard 90s TV patterns. It is basically Crow: Texas Ranger and I am enjoying every minute of it.

  4. The Spectacular Spider-Man - Finished the first season last night. That was awesome. My only real complaint is that it things could have been drawn out a bit more. The Green Goblin stuff could have lasted the entire season and saved Venom for the second. But these are very minor complaints. This has become my favorite Spider-Man cartoon of all time. Cannot wait to see the 2nd season.

  5. Spider-Man: Noir - I really enjoyed this. The art really fit the story and was a nice what-if? style story.

Spider-Man: Kraven's First Hunt - Coming into this one cold, I have no idea what is going on in Peter's life and I am not really brought up to speed. Also, for a 4 issue trade, the first issue has nothing to do with the rest of the book.

Spider-Man: Fever - This was a steaming pile of shit. It wasn't a Spider-Man book at all; It was all Dr. Strange. The story was magical and Dr. Strange-y, which I am not a fan of. Add in that the art is absolutely horrible and the colors make my eyes bleed, and this book is the worst one I have read this year.

Totals: Not enough for my liking.

  6. More Rock DVD Thoughts:

    - I forgot how much I enjoyed the Undertaker during the Undisputed Championship era. It was his best work as BikerTaker and I really enjoyed the tweener champion.

    - I still don't understand the match choices. The XV and XIX Austin matches, but not X-7? Skipping over the Brock Lesnar SummerSlam match? Throwing in a random Eddie Guerrero match from RAW (which I think is their only match together 1-on-1)? Not saying anything is bad, just odd choices.

    - The Rock does the Sharpshooter a lot more than I remembered.

    - Lastly, it seems that every match I watch has someone taking off the turnbuckle pad. Just an observation.

I am not having as much fun with this set as I did with the Undertaker set. With that one, you can see the progression and little changes of the character over time. With The Rock, beyond getting smoother on the mic and in the ring, the character really stays the same. Meh.

  7. So, ever since I updated the Wii Netflix Channel it has been running like shit. 9 (and counting) calls to customer support and I have gotten 9 different answers. These range from:

    - Call you internet provider.

    - Call Nintendo.

    - Well, just wait it out and watch it on your iPod Touch.

    - Just deal with it.

Just fuck you. You put out an update that made things worse and somehow it is not you that has the problem. Seriously, go fuck yourselves in the face with a rusty knife.

Edit: Just called again and was told to fuck myself. Thanks customer support! However, I think I will just let you keep fucking with me instead.

  8. I'll give Rock this, he gave effort and tried hard. But part of the problem I am finding is the Attitude-ness of all the matches. Like I said, 1.5 disc in and I have already seen:

    - 2 Cage Matches (vs. Triple H & vs. Shane McMahon)

    - Ladder Match (Vs. Foley)

    - Last Man Standing (Vs. Foley)

    - No Holds Bared (Vs. Kane, Vs. Austin (XV))

Also, the match choices have been dodgy. I get his IC title win. I get the Rock n' Sock tag title win. They are important points of The Rock's career and should be on any retrospective, even if they are not the best matches. But a random Kane match from a 99 SD? A random RAW match vs. Owen? Seems like there should be better choices? I don't really know as I missed the Attitude Era.

Next match is vs. Kurt Angle, which means WM X-7 and Jericho are ahead, which should make Disc 3 really good.

  9. I currently have that thing were I am so tired that I am not tired and thus cannot fall asleep. Add in an early morning and lack of sleep last night and it is shaping up to be a wonderful day at work tomorrow. But for now, random netflix cartoons ahoy!

  10. Not surprised, BUT.....

Don't lose your manners just because you decided to shop at 5AM on Black Friday. Seriously, wait your turn.

Also, learn what a fucking line is. What you are doing? Not a line by any means.

Finally, I know that I personally told the store to order low quantities. I called the CEO, said "No, don't send me 250 TVs. I can make do with 7. I love it when people yell at me like I am killing their puppy with a chainsaw." In addition, the ad said we would have 6 tablets. We actually had 18. You cannot possibly bitch when you are the 19th person.

  11. So my Survivor Series thoughts:

    - The Crowd. Yes, it was a hot crowd for the most part. However, at times they were distracting.

    - The traditional Elimination style match ended correctly. However, everything else was horrible. The start was just weird. The Sin Cara thing happened. And they totally jobbed Ziggler way too early in the match. If you are going to do that, use Hunico, who did nothing else.

    - Super Glam Slam looked nifty.

    - I liked that they showed the ring being 'reinforced' for the Henry/Show match. The match itself felt really flat, as they were building toward TLC. Big Shows 'flying' elbow was unique tho.

    - Punk/Del Rio? Nice to see The Fink make an appearance. I don't know if it is just me, but I have soured on Del Rio. He is missing something. He looks a little sloppy in the ring and every time I see him in a match, something is slightly.. off. And I was really expecting Nash/Johnny Ace/El Santo/Someone to attack Punk while he celebrated. That seems to be their pattern lately.

    - The tag match barely held my interest. Yeah, Rock showed he can still move around okay. Yet, the match was just bad. Miz was on fire this time last year and now is just there. I've never been a fan of R-Truth in the ring. Add in both being treated like complete jokes during this entire 'feud' and I don't care. And Cena really needs to react to things with any other emotion than the "aw shucks" smile. Show fire. Show anger. Show something.

All in all, I feel I wasted 3 hours. Watching my fantasy football scores was more entertaining for the most part.

    2/10

  12. My friends wife wants to see the Ohio State vs. Duke basketball game later this season. I'm always down for going to a game. Seeing as it is Duke, I knew we couldn't get our standard $5 tickets. I figured $20 at the max for the upper deck. Reasonable. Nope. $40 for top row, which is in turn too rich for my blood. Turns out she wants to buy the $250 a piece floor level tickets. He is not in favor of this. They argue. For a while.

Maybe it is just me, but if you have an invited guest over to watch a game, don't pick a fight while he is there. It is a tad uncomfortable. Trying to get me to choose sides is just downright stupid. First, I am not going to. Second, I am generally going to back my best friend. I mean really, think before you speak.

  13. I will preface this by saying that I did not watch the show, but I know it was said this was a one match card. As such, I don't know if this was the best fight (2ish minutes on an hour show) to draw in new fans. No way you can predict these things, but I can imagine some casual fans not coming back after that.

  14. I live in an apartment with shared wall. So now I am listening to whatever the fuck the neighbors are. I give them until this podcast is over to knock it off before I say something.

EDIT: I didn't last that long. I do not, for any reason, need to hear you drunkenly sing Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just fuck off.
