JackFetch
THQ announced plans Thursday to create video games for all consoles, handhelds, and PC based on the Marvel Super Hero Squad, a kid-friendly line of action figures based on Marvel Comics' many established characters. Details on the intended game adaptation were not revealed, though the title is not scheduled to see release until fall 2009. "Marvel is one of the true crown jewels in the entertainment industry and we are thrilled at the prospect of both building the Marvel Super Hero Squad brand and further developing our relationship with Marvel," said Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ. "We are dedicated to expanding our unmatched success story in the kids space and this agreement with Marvel is an excellent complement to our portfolio." An animated television series based on the Marvel Super Hero Squad is also in the works from Marvel Animation for a 2009 debut. The Super Hero Squad includes the likes of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and the Fantastic Four (battling against Magneto, Doctor Doom, and others), though it will be interesting to see if existing licensing deals with other publishers preclude any of those heroes from pulling double-duty in THQ's title. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167727
