RSS
Most comic book fans who attend conventions are polite people who are willing to wait in lines for autographs and sketches. But sometimes there are those who are so self-entitled they cross a line, souring what's supposed to be a fun experience. It's to that group that Des and Mike have a few choice words. dc20willsave
I have a friend who's first real convention experience is going to be Mid-Ohio Con at the beginning of October. I'm going to make sure he listens to this episode as a precaution against any bad behavior.
Venneh
Jesus God. Yeah, the ACen kids, especially the first timers are listening to this before we go in May. And I may add some ACen-specific things, such as: DO NOT SPANK RANDOM STRANGERS WITH THE YAOI PADDLE. (Has anyone outside of anime cons heard of this phenomenon)
Missy
If you're going to have friends listen to episode 333, also have them listen to episode 41.
Dread
Could there have been a better banner for this episode? Nope. If I recall 41 is you and Jenny discussing Con preparedness. Combined with How Not to Be an Asshole in episode 333, it's the ultimate Con Survival Guide!
Missy
Episode 41 is a mixture of etiquette and preparation tips. There's also an article I wrote in 2005.
Venneh
That did help, when going to ACen. So, episode 41, episode 333, and the Con Survival Guide.
SuaveStar
Listening now. The autograph before the panel people sound like pricks, Des is right, maybe you can get an autograph afterwards if they have time, but you go to the panel, for the panel, not to get an autograph. Agreeing about the sketches, if I want a sketch from someone, I would wait in line if I wanted it badly enough. Also, it really is weird, he went out of his way to act like a tool to a creator he didn't like, the guy was a jackass. I may not be the most sociable person, but I know that if I see someone I don't like somewhere I avoid them, simple as that. I don't like Frank Millers art, but if I were to go up to him, I would say, I really enjoyed Year one and thanks for doing that book. Missy
That? No. I had my say about that, so there's no reason to still be ranting about it three years later.
