Fat DJ
I just picked up the (I believe) first two What If? comics in the new run (I'm pretty sure they're just making 7 more) and to be honest, was kind of dissapointed. The "What if Karen Page Had Lived" title is really, really dissapointing read, but quite unexpected. The "What if Dr. Doom Became the Thing?" changes so little of the Fantastic Four canon that you could hardly call it a "What if?" title. Then again, anything the F4 touches is doomed to suck, so my hopes were't as high for this one.
Missy
I haven't had the chance to pick them up, but I love the old What If...? series.
Darque Edge
What if? in the eighties and early nineties was sheer class. Rob Liefeld pretty much made his reputation on an issue, called 'What if....Wolverine was an agent of Shield?' Anyone else read that one? Rob Liefeld pretty much made his reputation on an issue, called 'What if....Wolverine was an agent of Shield?' Anyone else read that one? There's actually a funny mistake in that one. Anyone know what it is...? And a lot of major names worked on the early issues of What If...? v2. Kurt Busiek wrote an issue featuring Daredevil, Jim Lee did an X-Men issue (or maybe it was just a cover), and Todd McFarlane provided inks for a Fantastic Four story. Fat DJ
The F4 one was weak. I was so ecstatic, because I thought anything with Doc Doom becoming more powerful than he already is could only lead to awesomeness. However, it ends up just like every F4 comic ever made, with some screwy origins. The Daredevil one (What if Karen Page lived) is very screwy. The psycology behind what he does doesn't make sense. I plan on picking some more up on thursday, hopefully those are better. By the way, why does everyone hate Liefield?
Missy
By the way, why does everyone hate Liefield? I dislike most of his work because his characters look like they're yelling all of the time, and they're muscles are way too big/out of proportion with reality. Worst of all, his storytelling ability (in words and art) is lacking.

He always does these weird gradients or blast lines, so his books always look like they're happening in one of those blue-screen "make your own music video" stores in the mall. He's just a crappy artist, honestly, who made it big with one hot book and rode it for all it was worth.
Yarrik
I read the Spiderman one, about if Aunt May had died instead of Uncle Ben. It wasn't too bad I think...

The real reason I dislike is the fact that fifteen years ago, he was doing new, interesting stuff. He hasn't bothered to update his style since then. Even his character designs look like early nineties stuff. The new X-Force comic was utterly pathetic. Plus, by all accounts the guy has a huge ego. Yoda - what was the mistake? I'm curious. Missy
Yoda - what was the mistake? I'm curious. Wolverine slices someone's right (?) hand off, but, as it falls to the ground, it was drawn as a left hand. (Or vice versa. I can't recall exactly.)
