Missy
I can't find a direct link to any article, but according to George Perez, Carmine Infantino has passed away at the age of 87.
Dread
Not only did he help create the concept of legacy and the multiverse in one issue of comics, he also hired Jack Kirby at DC, providing him with an outlet in his most creative period. Infantino was a little before my time as an artist, but there is no doubt his influence is seen today.
Dan
Infantino is one of two reasons superheroes were able to be resurrected successfully in the 50s (Julie Schwartz being the other). Comics would be a lot different today if not for him, assuming they lasted this long at all. As an artist and as DC's art director, his contributions to the art form are incalculable. On top of which, his art is fucking gorgeous.
