  1. About Matthew Waterhouse and Adric. There is a story I have heard and read many times about how he got the job as Adric. Apparently he was hired - and kept his job - because he was sleeping with one of the senior people on Who; I can't really remember who.

Also everyone hated him because he thought it was funny to provoke people; there are a couple of stories that guest stars refused to share dressing rooms with him because of it.

I don't know how accurate all these tales are. Make of it what you will.

  2. There is really only one question to ask: Why was Neil Gaiman the first person to come up with that idea? Because he was the only one crazy enough to think of it?

The idea of the TARDIS being given a form has actually been done before. It was a comic mini, Doctor Who: The Forgotten. Pretty good read since it shines a spotlight on all the Doctor's through Ten.

That's not canon though, so it doesn't count.

Neil Gaiman for showrunner. Cos that would be awesome..

oh and while we're at it. Best exchange of the episode has to be:

"You never take me where I want to go!"

"No, I take you where you need to go!"

  3. Now that it's over the CW has nothing, but it would be hilarious if they picked up the Wonder Woman Pilot that NBC recently axed.

I hope not. I hope that the 'Wonder Woman' pilot is thrown into a deep hole which is then filled up with concrete, so that it never sees the light of day again. It was NOT Wonder Woman, despite what Kelly, NBC and DC said. It is an abomination.

Can you link me to the pilot so I can see whether it deserves such trenchant views?

It hasn't been released anywhere, as there have only been test screenings. There is however a blow by blow podcast of it, done by a regular podcaster who happened to be randomly asked to take part in one. Here's the link to it.

  5. First it sounded like NBC had picked it up, but now it's been shelved.

    WOOHOOO!!!!

I hope now that they drop the pilot, the scripts and anything written down about this 'Wonder Woman' series down the deepest hole they can find, fill it in with concrete and put The Destroyer on guard to kill anyone who tries to dig it out. I would also suggest that anyone involved in making it, has their minds wiped of all knowledge of it.

This was an abomination. It was NOT Wonder Woman, despite all efforts by Kelly, NBC and DC to convince us otherwise. Thank all the gods and goddesses it is now dead. I can only hope that it stays dead.

  6. "Generic American Agent" was Dichen Lachman, aka main cast member Sierra from Dollhouse.

Didn't watch Dollhouse past the first couple of episodes so I didn't recognise her, sorry. And I have no idea who's in 'Miracle Day' other than Jack and Gwen... because I wasn't really interested. :)

To be honest I haven't watched Torchwood since midway through the first season, other than the episodes Martha was in. It just didn't grab me much at all, but I stuck with it longer than most series I don't really like, mostly because of Eve Myles. But then they got her involved with Owen and I just couldn't take it any more.

  7. It was a pretty warm day overall, so everyone was out enjoying the sun. I saw report on the figures, but what that fails to take into account is, it was still the most watched TV program that night.

I am however worried about the second half of the season. It's going to be airing at around the same time that X-Factor airs. And X-Factor here in the UK is a juggernaut; no one bothers to air anything except one of those celebrity dance shows while its on. Basically for 2 hours on a saturday night and one hour on a Sunday, the X-Factor is undisputed king of weekend evening TV from September till the Saturday before christmas.

  8. My favourite is Planet of the Dead, mostly due to Lady Christina. And before I get flamed into a crisp, I am aware that fandom as a whole seems to regard her with contempt and distain, but I like her dammit. I thought the stupid flying bus was indeed dumb as a post, as well as Lee Evans' scientific advisor, who only seemed to be there to provid comic relief... but I don't care. I like it.

The Best? End of Time. Because of all those quiet moments between Wilf and the Doctor, and just generally Wilf himself. I really don't like John Simm as the Master, but that's mostly because of the portrayal forced on him by RTD. IF they do bring Simm back as The Master, I hope they let him play it the way he originally wanted to.

But no amount of happy endings given to Donna will ever erase the travesty of what was done to her in the first place.

  9. I was looking around FB and the net today in a break at work, and found out some stuff about Lis Sladen I hadn't been aware of, like she was in a long running soap opera called Coronation Street for a while.

I also found a picture of her that made me go 'Woah, is that..? wow.' Thought I would share it with you...

I am going to miss her so much, its stupid. :(

  10. Favourite? Easy. Blink of course.

Best? Utopia. Because that moment when Yana turned over that watch and I saw the Gallifreyan design caught me completely and utterly by surprise. I literally had no idea it was coming. Which in this day and age of things spoilers and plot points appearing on the web almost daily, is amazing. And then watching him be slowly overwhelmed by the Master was just amazing acting. And when he turns around after opening the watch its just utterly chilling.

In the very short time he was there, Derek Jacobi gave us a Master I would have LOVED to see more of. Very little dramatics, just a cold, ruthless, singlemindedness. I would have preferred that to John Simm's scenery chewing 'Anti-Tennant'.

  11. That blows. Bet there's going to be a In Honor thing on Saturday's episode. Going to watch School Reunion now. Looking around, they had filmed three of the stories for Series 5 of the Sarah Jane Adventures. What's really sad? The title of the last aired episode of Sarah Jane was "Goodbye Sarah Jane."

I hope there'll be a joint one to her and Nick Courtney.

There will be a dedication to both, before Saturday's episode. And then a 15 minute tribute program to Elisabeth Sladen directly after DW finishes, on CBBC.

  12. That said, there is a perverse part of me that wants to write a bit of fan fiction where 10.2 explodes right before he and Rose finally have sex.

When 10.2 got left behind with Rose, I felt like I was watching a fanmade vid of any number of DW 10/Rose fanfics. That's all that scene was; a treat for all the 10/Rose shippers out there to shut them up.

  13. I've never seen Mary Poppins, so the references will go over my head.

    You've never seen Mary Poppins??!!??

Go find a copy right now and add Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (and probably Bedknobs & Broomsticks) and just for the hell of it :)

Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent has to be heard to be believed!
