  1. I do find it interesting that no one is overly surprised by Hawkgirl's presence in Secret Origins. They're more confused by Wonder Woman than an alien showing up. This tells me that the idea of aliens coming to Earth is a given now.

  2. Not getting into the continuity thing but I don't really agree that Gotham is so far behind the rest of the DCAU in terms of tech. The villains and Batman are still very advanced, and the city police have these giant blimps among skyscrapers that eclipse anything in the real world. I tend to think of Gotham and Metropolis representing two ideas about how cities would chance going forward from the early days of comics and pulp fiction. Metropolis is the glittering dream citadel, the sort of vision of the future you'd expect from the 1950's post war era, maybe something you'd see at a World's Fair entitled "The City of Tomorrow!". Gotham on the other hand is the dark side of that, a city where the 1930's criminal attitudes have taken over, so the architecture, vehicles and clothes are more of a reflection of that era. If you think about it in terms of earth-bound tech there's not much difference between the two, its just the style they embody. You're still getting rockets, time-manipulating devices, accidents creating super-powered freaks, etc regardless of which one you're looking at.

I just don't buy that all the spacefaring and alien contact dealies happened prior to Batman or Superman. There's just no way it fits.

If Static Shock, with Hoop Squad, can be in continuity, why not Teen Titans?

uuugggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... (for reminding us of that THING, not your argument)

Sorry, man. I didn't mean to traumatize you.

  4. I hadn't really thought about the rape aspect of Adonis in The Beast Within, but he definitely seemed to be after her. I do have to point out, though, that it was Beast Boy who took her into the sewers, as when the Titans finally take down the thing that had Raven, it transforms into a very disoriented Beast Boy. It's likely that he did this to keep her away from Adonis, since leaving her at the Tower might not have been considered safe in his somewhat primtive mind.

Either way, it was awesome to see him get a chance to play the hero with her for once.

  5. I've just gotten to the point where I expect society to end up like V for Vendetta so things like this don't surprise me anymore.

I don't think we'll end up like that. I think we'll end up like in Demolition Man, where everything that the government deems "bad for you" is outlawed, and the only songs on the radio are horrible old commercial jingles.

  6. It's the only time in the DCAU where Beast Boy talks out of his human form. In the DVD extra for Season One, one of the writers, I'd like to say David Slack, but I'm not positive, said that they did this on purpose, citing that since he makes so many jokes in his human form, the one time when he didn't should have been when he transformed.

  7. For CG animation, it's remarkable how well they've got the style down. Heck, I think it actually makes the whole thing a little more visually dynamic. I approve.

I agree. The images I saw seem to hold the spirit of the old cartoons.

  8. So what better way to start than with a fantasy football league for the upcoming season. For right now I just want to see who would all be interested in joining (I'd be hoping for 10 at least.) If we have enough interest we can work out the details.

    Who's all in.

I'd love to, although I'm not sure how familiar the Earth-2.net forum is with the Premier League. In fact, I distinctly remember you pooh-poohing Steph for her interest in the World Cup, which as big a showcase for football as there is...

I meant real football, Limey. Besides, how would we do a fantasy sport league when nobody scores any goals?

Real football = feet + a ball, not your padded rugby rubbish. :P

    Them's fightin' words! :P

  9. Maybe it's just that I compare him to Dick and Tim so much that he still comes off like an a-hole. I'll try not doing that from now on.

Why is the scene from Team America coming into my head, and why do I now see Tim as being the pussy in that situation.

I shouldn't have read this post. Now I've got the Team America theme song stuck in my head.

  10. ...apparently, I'm gonna be playing one of the Joker's henchmen in a friend's fanfilm tomorrow.

...yeah. An overweight, out-of-shape henchman. Greeaaaaaat.... >_<

    Break a leg, Henchy.

  11. I suppose this all is academic considering the writers never give us the chance to see who the heck it is. I could understand some not seeing how that would make much sense. Then again, the kind of things he did, especially in Revved Up, do sound like a more ruthless student of Batman's doing.

  12. I meant that if TT is in the DCAU, and Jason doesn't exist in the DCAU, Red X =/= Jason.

However, if TT is not in the DCAU, Red X possibly = Jason. :)

I can see that, but at the same time, we have seen more than one Robin at a time, as when Stephanie Brown was with Batman during War Games.

  13. It's an interesting idea. Especially since we don't know when Jason Todd is with Batman in the DCAU.

    He... doesn't exist?

Unless Jason Todd showed up while Dick was still Robin....

Seriously. This is why TT being in the DCAU makes no sense. You have to bend over backwards in a thousand different ways just to make things sort of work.

That's a bit much. As I seem to recall, in DC comics, the Joker paralyzed Barbara Gordon, forcing her to become Oracle. But in Return of the Joker, we see the Joker die and she can still walk. And in Batman Beyond, when she's commisioner, the only thing slowing her mobility is her age. But that doesn't mean that it isn't in continuity.

This having anything to do with whether or not Teen Titans is in continuity is a non-sequitur. Sorry, the Titans are in continuity. Booing it doesn't make it any less true. :P

  14. After watching Batman: Under the Red Hood, I really want to think it's Jason Todd--just less psychopathic and having slightly more morals.

It's an interesting idea. Especially since we don't know when Jason Todd is with Batman in the DCAU.

  15. None of the answers for who X is really seem to fit. I don't see Dick Grayson travelling back in time, putting the future in jeapordy, just to test himself in the past. We're apparently not supposed to know who he is, which is really annoying.
