  1. In one of the podcasts Dan definitely said he wanted to go back and watch it. I think he might have wanted to see if it was as good as he remembered or really as bad as you have consistently maintained. Maybe you could both do a live, two man, audio commentary of the episode!!
  2. Shame I am coming to this so much after the fact. Showed my daughter "The Invisible Enemy" and she loved it. Can't get enough now. Starting with one that isn't great and finding they still enjoy it is the best way, because anyone can enjoy a classic but the fact is that by starting with Talons or City of Death means it is downhill after that. My vote would have been for The Invisible Enemy.
  3. To rewatch has to be the sensorites for Dan and arc in space for Mike. Must be at least a dozen episodes where each of them say they will have to go back to re-watch those two adventures.
  4. Best Dan impression "Nothing in the world can stop me now!!!!!"
  5. Have to say that the commentary between Peter Davidson and Terrence Dicks is absolutely excellent. Might be the best on any dvd.
  6. Just listened to this episode again (yes, I went back to the start a few weeks ago and enjoying the podcasts a second time) and decided to look at the dinosaur model work on youtube. Nothing can prepare you for the shear scale of ineptitude in the dinosaur work. Special effects that are not special and hardly even qualify as effects. It would need to be a real brilliant episode to lift itself above this effect work. Just a shame they didn't make the dinosaurs invisable. I really think Dan and Mike did not really emphasise enough just how poor these effects are. They have to be seen to be believed. A 5 year old kid in his backyard could have done better.
  7. Has anyone else said that Benedict Cumerbatch looks a lot like Matt Smith???
  8. Started Ressurection of the Daleks and so far it has been great just as you said. Then i will give Warriors of the Deep a try and then Ghostlight. Hmmm......after boston Dan's suggestions of anything with either Frazer Hines or Colin Baker I might even bump up the Two Doctors. Need a good reason to see it again. Maybe I just got a bad first impression because I had thought that Tom Baker would have been the best or that the new ones might be insightful and interesting.
  9. Not sure if this thread exists somewhere else (couldn't find it) but I was wonderring which Dr Who dvd commentaries you consider the best. I listened to a couple of Tom Baker ones and they just seemed to consist of "oh look it's John, wow, he made a lovely cup of tea", and also a few from the new series (fear her!!!! and the big bang) neither of which I would class as enlightening or even entertaining (had hoped the writter of Fear Her realised how rubbish it was, but no, he seemed to think he had written Citizen Kane) . So which commentaries would be the most worthwhile to listen to???
  10. Pertwee into Baker. Remember being a small kid and absolutely terrified by planet of the spiders. Recently got it on DVD and told my son he was in for the horror ride of his life. That the spiders were so real. The show so frightening. Well, he wasn't impressed (and neither was I). Even the regeneration was only so-so when compared to the new series he was used to. Should have left it to memory.
  11. phew. Dodged a bullet there. Could easily have been the worst show ever made.
  12. I have always wanted them to go back to the savage planet where they left Steven and see what happened after he was left behind and as that actor is still alive it isn't impossible (but unlikely). Or a two doctors episode with the sixth doctor where he dies and gets a regeneration scene (again not going to happen).
  13. Gonna dig out let's kill hitler to see that scene. Not my favorite episode (probably suffered because I was at fever pitch to see the Doctor go up against Hitler), but will have another look. So could the Doctor also do this??? Would have come in handy during Last of the Time Lords and would have been a better explanation than the one we got for him becoming young again. Imagine, the master ages you 700 years, it takes you a year to de-age back to normal and then he ages you again. Would have been nice in a not-nice sort of way.
  14. If I was stuck in the tardis and had a choice out of peri or mel then there would be no choice. Sorry but one important quality of a female assistant that is much overlooked is the need to look like you can fill a bikini. Only one winner here. It is just a shame that Nicola Bryant wasn't allowed to talk in her real voice because that faux-US accent is so annoying. Shame they won't ask her to go back to re-dub all her scenes. With regard to this season, I think Trial benefits from the low expectations you have going into it because it really is not that bad. Not a classic but the best of Colin Baker.
  15. Who can regenerate. I assumed she was a timelord. Gonna have to watch those episodes again to see what they said about her. And much less use of the psychic paper and sonic screwdriver.
  16. This really is one episode where you wouldn't even need to hear the podcast in order to know Mike and Dan's opinions. It really must rank as one of the worst stories of the classic era. it really has nothing to recommend it except that my local second hand shop will pay twice as much for this dvd as it would for Genesis of the Daleks. Will be going down there tomorow. As mentioned, the Rani is a great character hamstrung by being in two very weak stories.
  17. Thats more like it. River Song was great at the start but has been used too much. And if the parallel universe tenth doctor comes back I will be hitting the off button. Now let me slide off at a tangent. i don't know if anyone has asked this, but after "Let's kill hitler" is it right to assume that as Mel and Amy grew up as freinds that humans and timelords age at the same rate???
  18. A more manipulative Doctor with his assistants. He isn't supposed to be your best freind (or boyfreind!!). Was praying that the last season would finish with Amy and Rory realising that the Doctor had manipulated them all season to try to find a way to recreate/duplicate himself so that he wouldn't die (a lot of episodes seemed to revolve around duplicating one or other of the assistants - especially Amy) and to feel betrayed that they had not just lost their daughter but also been driven half insane. Never happened.
