  1. From Superhero Hype:

First he named Spider-Man, then he defeated Spidey as a theater usher, and now he gets to play a villain? Film Ick is reporting a rumor that Bruce Campbell may be playing Quentin Beck (aka Mysterio) on the set of a Spidey movie being made within Spider-Man 3. The site says that Avi Arad and Sam Raimi will have cameos as the producer and director of the film.

If you go back a couple pages you'll see that I actually said this back in June.

  2. Marvel Studios, a division of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. and Vancouver based production company, No Equal Entertainment, have entered into an agreement to develop a live-action television series based on Marvel's cult favorite Moon Knight. The announcement was made today by David Maisel of Marvel Entertainment and Larry Sugar of No Equal Entertainment.

First introduced by Marvel Comics in the mid-1970s, Moon Knight remains a true fan favorite as evidenced by the current best-selling comic book series featuring the Super Hero. Moon Knight presents the story of soldier of fortune Marc Spector. After an encounter with the Egyptian god of vengeance and the moon deity Konshu, he became a hero: Moon Knight. The encounter leaves the tormented Spector with even more inner demons to combat. Now as Moon Knight, he hunts criminals in the night, bringing them to justice, and striking fear in the hearts of criminals everywhere. Moon Knight's blend of action, the supernatural, and complex, intriguing characters will serve as the foundation for the live-action series.

"'Moon Knight' has all the elements for an engaging television series. No Equal Entertainment has a real passion for the project and an amazing vision of how to bring the character and storyline to life that will appeal to action and sci-fi enthusiasts," said Mr. Maisel.

The production will be spearheaded by No Equal Entertainment's Sugar. Sugar brings to the project over 35 years experience as a Hollywood executive and producer. His track record includes a wide array of global television series, including: "The Collector," "Romeo," "First Wave," "Dead Man's Gun," and "So Weird."

Mr. Sugar added, "We are delighted to be in business with Marvel Entertainment and believe that 'Moon Knight' will make a compelling and long-lasting television series."

I don't know, they sound like they already commited to it. It sounds like it will be syndicated also, so that's a better chance of it being on somewhere. By the way, that was announced today.

  3. From Variety

Marvel Studios has pacted with Vancouver-based production company No Equal Entertainment to develop a live-action TV series based on the cult-favorite comicbook superhero Moon Knight.

Skein will follow soldier of fortune Marc Spector as he becomes the titular vigilante after an encounter with the Egyptian god of vengeance and moon deity.

  4. In what is probably the most unusual announcement of the day to come from Marvel, the company will see a cross-over with the long-running CBS daytime soap opera "The Guiding Light." A single eight-page story written by Jim McCann with art by Alex Chung will appear in a number of Marvel comics, much like the "Masked Marvel" back-up seen in numerous Marvel titles recently. This will be promoted on Marvel.com, CBS.com and in the Marvel flip magazine. The story finds some of Marvel's greatest heroes and villains descending on the fictional town of Springfield to see if a new character there is friend or foe and will tie into events happening in an upcoming episode of "Guiding Light." Readers may recall it was "Guiding Light" costume designer Shawn Dudley who designed Storm's wedding gown for the marriage between her and Black Panther, signifying a further development in the relationship between CBR, "Guiding Light" owners Procter & Gamble and Marvel Comics.

This is probably the strangest thing I have ever heard.

Here is the link from Marvel about it. http://www.marvel.com/comics/guiding_light

  5. Microsoft Corp. plans to finance a movie based on its popular video game "Halo" after Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox backed out of the project.

It's not so much in trouble, as too expensive for Universal and Fox. Microsoft is now paying for it to be made. They have a deal with Peter Jackson to make video games(they started a video game company together), package King Kong with the new HD-DVD drive, and of course make the Halo movie. I think it is all part of the same deal and they need Halo to be made even if they pay the bills themselves.

  6. Below, is the list of PS3 titles that will launch between November 17 and Christmas, 2007:

    1. Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (Ubisoft)

    2. Call of Duty 3 (Activision)

    3. Fight Night Round 3 (Electronic Arts)

    4. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda Softworks)

    5. F.E.A.R. (Vivendi Universal Games)

    6. Full Auto 2: Battlelines (Sega)

    7. Genji: Days of the Blade (Sony)

    8. Madden NFL 07 (Electronic Arts)

    9. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Activision)

    10. Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (Namco Bandai Games)

    11. NBA 07 (Sony)

    12. NBA 2K7 (2K Sports)

    13. Need For Speed Carbon (Electronic Arts)

    14. NHL 2K7 (2K Sports)

    15. Resistance: Fall of Man (Sony)

    16. Ridge Racer 7 (Namco Bandai)

    17. Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega)

    18. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Electronic Arts)

    19. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft)

    20. Tony Hawk's Project 8 (Activision)

    21. Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (Sony Online Entertainment)

Most of those games are already out for the 360. I was playing Tiger Woods 07 a few minutes ago as a matter of fact. The only game that is different than anything out already is Resistance, and I don't know if it's worth buying a PS3 just for that game.

  7. Well, the voting has started on the make Optimus speak, or whatever contest it's called. I know my submission wasn't the greatest, and it didn't make the top 100, but it has to be better than some of the ones they picked.

"I can't explain the flames, they are just cool."

"These pretzels are making me thirsty."

    'I must break you."

    "I'll be back."

    "It's Prime time!"

    "It's clobbering time!"

I guess it was too much to think they would take this seriously.

  8. Hellboy: Sword of Storms, a new animated feature based on Mike Mignola's graphic novel series, continues the comic-book and film series when it debuts Oct. 28 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block.

In the new film, a university professor opens a forbidden scroll and is possessed by the twin demons of thunder and lightning, who seek to return to the world to wake their brothers, the dragons. Hellboy (voiced by Ron Perlman), along with a folklore expert and a psychic, travels to Japan to investigate and finds the sword of storms, the only weapon that can defeat the demons.

In addition to Perlman, the new movie features the voices of several actors from the 2004 Guillermo del Toro-directed live-action Hellboy movie, including Selma Blair (Liz Sherman) and Doug Jones (Abe Sapien). Mike Mignola co-wrote the movie's story. Phil Weinstein and Tad Stones direct the movie. Del Toro and Mignola are creative producers. Hellboy: Sword of Storms is produced by Film Roman, a Starz Media Company, and is distributed worldwide for television and on DVD/video by Starz Media, LLC.

I'm looking forward to this. It's coming a lot sooner than I expected though.

  9. Halle Berry did play both Catwoman and Storm, so Howard could play both characters.

One is DC, and one is Marvel though. Also, one was an abonination, and one wasn't. I think we would have been better off if she didn't do both.

  10. There is a new trailer out, and the rider talks in this one.

    http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7950

Director Mark Steven Johnson responds to criticism of the 'Ghost Rider' trailer and explains what you're NOT seeing and why.

"First, the TRANSFORMATION. Ghost Rider is a PG-13 movie, albeit, a very intense PG-13 movie. The MPAA governs the movie trailers as well. And one of the rules is that you can't show people on fire in a PG-13 trailer. Obviously, this presents a problem for us. So for the fans who have wondered if that's all there is for the transformation -- God no. Not by a long shot. But that's all we can show. In fact, we had to cut many shots out of the trailer for being too intense or horrific."

  11. Terrence Howard Set for Iron Man

    Source: Variety

    October 10, 2006

Terrence Howard is set to join Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man, reports Variety.

The Jon Favreau-directed film is the first to be financed through an arrangement that Marvel Studios formed with Merrill Lynch. Paramount Pictures releases the film May 2, 2008.

Howard will play Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes, the confidante of Iron Man's alter ego, Tony Stark. Rhodes, a high ranking military officer and aviator, steers the team that develops the robotic suit that allows the sickly Stark to fly around and battle bad guys.

In the comic, Rhodes' character gets his own armored suit and evolves into an occasionally antagonistic character called War Machine. That development seems likely to be saved for the sequel, though, as Iron Man will battle villain the Mandarin when shooting begins in February in L.A.

"The suit is purely an innovative creation, so this is Marvel meets Tom Clancy technology," Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige said. "Having the best actors for the key roles allows them to inhabit the hyperkinetic reality of this world."

So no War Machine in the first movie. IMDB also has Terrence Howard in talks to play Diamondback for the Luke Cage movie. I doubt he'll do it now that he has this role though.

  12. On the Iron Man suit Favreau said "if you have too clunky of a figure it takes you out of the movie. You can't do with a Robocop suit, what Iron Man has to do. He flies, he's athletic, he's acrobatic, he fights, [and] he shoots. He has to do a lot of things for you to justify making a movie about him." Favreau will most likely use Motion Capture effects to create more realistic movements of the Iron Man character.

  13. "We're getting ready to turn a script that we like into this studio," says Snyder. "They're pretty excited about it…I think the script that Alex (Tse) has done for us is the closest to the graphic novel it's been [since development started], for better or for worse. I feel like Alex has done an awesome job. It's keeping all the things that are cool about the comic".
