  1. Fox DVD, download dates in sync

    By Chris Marlowe

Fox Interactive Media is set to confirm today that beginning in October its online properties will sell movies day-and-date with their DVD release.

The first sales will go through Direct2Drive, one of the lesser-known brands included in News Corp.'s $650 million purchase of Intermix Media a year ago. A spokeswoman for FIM said the capability will spread across MySpace, such other IGN Entertainment sites as RottenTomatoes and Film Force, and elsewhere in the FIM network. Some of the first titles to go on sale this way are "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Thank You for Smoking," due Oct. 3; "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties," scheduled for Oct. 10; and "The Omen," due Oct. 17.

Television programs also are included in the move, with such Fox shows as "24" and "Prison Break" and FX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" becoming available within 24 hours of broadcast.

"Our drive to deliver 20th Century Fox content via the most powerful online platforms is advanced substantially by this agreement," said Peter Levinsohn, president digital media at Fox Entertainment Group. "Offering Fox content in conjunction with FIM properties enables viewers to access the best movies and TV shows from multiple platforms in the Fox family."

Movies downloaded from FIM sites will sell for about $20 and TV shows for $1.99 an episode. Direct2Drive has fewer than 1 million unique users a month with an average spend of $30.

$20.00 is too much for a downloaded movie, unless you are allowed to burn to a dvd. I can go to WalMart and buy it for less than that and have a hard copy the day of release.

  2. Morgan Creek has begun the detective work on a kooky cold case. The production company has hired Jeff Sank and brothers Jason and Justin Heimberg to write a third installment of the hit franchise "Ace Ventura." The two previous "Ventura" comedies grossed more than $180 million domestically and helped establish Jim Carrey as one of the highest-paid comedy actors in Hollywood. The latest pet project is expected to center on the eccentric detective's son, who steps into his father's shoes to take over the family business.

Uh, yeah. We all went and saw Son of the Mask right?............Anyone?

  3. Pee Wee Herman was arrested for showing his "pee-wee" at an adult xxx theather showing "Nurse Nancy". Pee Wee paid a fine and a few public service announcements, he was given a clean record and Pee Wee Playhouse closed up shop until Adult Swim. Reubens was arrested again in 2002 in connection with an investigation involving child porn. On March 22, 2004, child pornography charges against him were dropped after he pleaded guilty to a separate "misdemeanor obscenity" charge.

The sad life of Pee Wee.

On August 16, He Will Appear On Jimmy Kimmel Live.

    Matthew

Is it just me or every time he is about to bring back Pee Wee he gets arrested? He is making new Pee Wee movies so we'll see if it holds true. By the way, the "child porn" he had was an art collection that had some photos of kids naked. They have them in art galleries, but Pee Wee can't have them in his house?

  4. "X-Men" executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner talked to LA Daily News about X-Men 4, for which they would have to renegotiate with the bigger stars, and also Wolverine and Magneto:

"The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not." Considering the older names involved -- Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin -- that could run into a huge chunk of money.

Shuler Donner reports, "We also have 'Young Magneto' in development."

Anna Paquin could make alot of money because I doubt Halle Berry will go anywhere near it. Famke Jansen and Rebecca Romijn are iffy too.

Is Young Magneto the title? If so, huh? That's a pretty lame title.

  5. Grind House is a 2007 film that consists of two segments, of which both are feature-length attractions. One segment, Planet Terror, will be a zombie film written and directed by Robert Rodríguez. The other segment, Death Proof, will be a slasher film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. There will also be trailers advertising fake films between the segments. Grind House is expected to be released on April 6, 2007.

  6. The official website for Spike TV's Afro Samurai, voiced by Samuel L. Jackson, has launched with the new trailer, which was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The five episode series is the tale of a black samurai in futuristic, yet feudal Japan who is on a mission to avenge the wrongful death of his father. "Afro" is a warrior who travels a solitary path encountering a myriad of enemies, friends and challenges beyond imagination.

The series, produced in Japanese animation, blends samurai style with hip-hop, creating a kind of action that American audiences have never seen before.

Afro Samurai is a creative collaboration between Jackson, Takashi Okazaki and Japanese animation company Gonzo, a division of GDH, who is also acting as series producer. The concept of Afro Samurai was created by graphic designer, illustrator and artist Takashi "Bob" Okazaki (Spider-Man, Blade: Trinity).

Samuel L. Jackson in anime. You know you want to see it. Go see the trailer.

  7. The Marvel Studios Overview Presentation--other than giving a great look at how their films are made and what they have in the works--reveals that Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2: X-Men United) is writing the screenplay for the big screen adaptation of The Avengers.

Marvel describes the property as follows: "The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes, formed to fight the foes no single hero could withstand. The Avengers are the most prestigious and powerful super-hero team in the world."

I figured it's time to start with the Avengers news since it was officially announced.

  8. Something that is becoming a problem on the 360. The text is too small when played on most SD sets, so you can't read it. Dead Rising doesn't use speech during gameplay, only text. I can't read what anybody is saying, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has this proble also, and I had a real problem getting through the tutorial because I couldn't read what it wanted me to do. It didn't matter after the tutorial though, because you didn't have to read anything after that.

  9. They said everything they needed to say in the first XMen movie about Magneto's origin.

The Power Pack is the dumbest comic book ever. I'm sure it will be a family move, but i hate that comic with a passion.

I like your idea for Luke Cage, but it won't happen. A film like that these days would come off as racist unless Tarantino directs it, and we know he won't.

Mission Impossible was a horrible movie.

I don't think they will do crossovers in movies because of the commitments they would have to get from actors. If they did an Avengers movie, and a Cap movie and they weren't the same guy it would be weird.

Thinking about it further, I don't want a Thor movie. It won't translate very well.

Dr. Strange is too trippy for live action.

Fantastic4 2 will be better. I wake up and tell myself this every day.

  10. I really don't see the point of doing a Magneto movie.

Doctor Strange won't translate very well.

Nick Fury might end up like Rambo.

    Power Pack = lame.

Avengers movie with a Cap movie already scheduled = Cap-less Avengers movie

Thor movie hopefully won't do much Asgard stuff

Luke Cage movie could be awesome if done right, but will probably star a rapper

Fantastic 4 movie should be alot better than the first
