Even though Mike enjoys The Crow for what it is, he has to agree with Shana that substance was neglected for style. Also, they can't help but wonder the following things: What was Top Dollar trying to accomplish, why was he sleeping with his sister, did Darla's transformation not stick, and why were Eric and Shelly friends with a child? To answer those questions in their remake, the plot is rewritten, new casts are assembled, characters are completely dropped, and relationships are reworked. You're either going to love this episode, or you're going to come at us with pitchforks. Hopefully the former. [ 2:10:02 || 62.6 MB ]

On this day five years ago, James created a monster the likes of which he curses every day: the Tranquil Tirades. In this, the fifth anniversary special of the Tirades, James decides to take a few more years off of his brain's life by going back over every bad movie he has reviewed, ranking them from "pretty bad" to "revolver-to-the-temple awful." Enjoy. He sure as hell didn't. Music in this episode: "Everybody Get Dangerous" by Weezer (the Tranquil Tirades opening song), "Take the Long Way Home" by Bloodhound Gang, "Gotta Get Away" by The Offspring, "Duality" by Slipknot, and "Thnks fr th Mmrs" by Fallout Boy. This is a tale of two shows. One show uses the forward momentum that has been building for the last four episodes to keep the tensions high, address huge plot points, and generally be awesome. The other seems to have gone into reverse and is giving us what are some of the worst episodes the Heroes have seen in a long damn time, including such gems as a physicist freezing time mid-orgasm so his girlfriend won't break up with him. Which show is which? Join Will and Hannah as they cover Buffy's "Blood Ties" and "Crush," and Angel's "Happy Anniversary" and "Thin Dead Line." [ 1:03:02 || 30.6 MB ]

This episode is a dreadful duo of deplorable DVDs as Desmond and Darryll face off against idiots trying to save the world, and Devil Dinosaur, Jr. deduces that killer home appliances are not so distressing. Those films are The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu and 1988's Pulse. There's also some defective ditties: "Worship Me Like a God," by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, "Fish Fuck" by GWAR, "Electric Funeral" by Black Sabbath, and "Terrible" by Harley Poe. Mike's spotlight on independent comic books returns with short reviews of 2000 AD #1788, Godzilla #2, and Harbinger #1, as well as full coverage of Bloodshot #1, The Crow: Death and Rebirth #1, Danger Girl / GI Joe #1, Dark Shadows #6, and Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose #75. One of these books causes Mike to lose his mind. And no, it's not the obvious choice. [ 54:21 || 26.5 MB ]

Saying you're a Neil Gaiman fan on the Internet is like saying you're a human being or a cat intelligent enough to use a keyboard and mouse; of course you are. Gaiman is not just a beloved author online, he's something of a social quantifier for my generation. Geeks love Gaiman; he's the modern Douglas Adams. But before he made bank with his novels and married the chick from The Dresden Dolls, Neil wrote a TV show for the BBC.

It's a heaping dose of horror on this week's Dread Media! First up, Desmond and Darryll review the slasher classic Intruder. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. reviews See No Evil in a brand new Stay Scary. Desmond returns to discuss two relatively recent comic book hardcover releases: Creepy Presents Richard Corben and Spirit World by Jack Kirby. Check it out! Tunes are here, too! "Strength Thru Shopping" by Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, "Intruder" by Primus, "See No Evil" by Pretty Lightning, "Kill in the Spirit World" by Black Sabbath, and "Cold Machines" by Alice Cooper. Truly a modern masterpiece, and one of Shana's favorite films, Jurassic Park continues to thrill with its nearly flawless visual effects, heart-pounding sound, and grandiose directing! It is, however, nearly 20 years old, so the question is posed: Is Jurassic Park in need of a remake? Listen in as Shana and Mike each assign the movie a new cast, tweak a few plot points and character motivations, and generally gush about it as a whole. Also, the next two movies are named, several more are dropped into the queue, and feedback is read! [ 1:57:00 || 56.4 MB ]

Episode 32 is rolling into town, and Buffy is pissed! Some old friends come to town (and by friends we mean jackasses), amusingness happens in the aftermath of the Buffy / Riley breakup, and one of the Earth-2.net podcast hosts is compared to one of the bads! Meanwhile, on Angel, the car appears to have gone into neutral. Possibly even reverse. Wanna know more? Listen as Hannah and Will cover Buffy's "Triangle" and "Checkpoint," and Angel's "Redefinition" and "Blood Money." [ 1:20:20 || 38.9 MB ]

In episode 549 you heard the four absolutely abysmal movie-themed Planet of the Apes Power Records. Ian and Dave are back to watch two more episodes of Blake's 7. In "Moloch," the Liberator follows Servalan to a mysterious hidden planet where a legion of Federation troops have acquired a new technology and have designs on taking over the Federation. In "Death-Watch," Tarrant's brother acts as a champion in a well-mannered war between empires, which Servalan looks to disrupt for her own purposes. Plus, a Doctor assesses the medical accuracy of "Ultraworld," how has Karma punished Colonel Sanders, and does one feedbacker's powers of prediction mean he should be burnt as a witch? In Dread Media's tribute to the legend Ernest Borgnine, two relatively obscure movies in his filmography are discussed. First up, Darryll loves train movies, and that is evident in his and Desmond's discussion of Emperor of the North. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. gets all Satanic with a review of Devil's Rain in a brand new Stay Scary! Songs include: "Train in Vain (Stand by Me)" by The Clash, "I Am Ahab" by Mastodon, "Spill the Blood" by Slayer, and "The Black Hole" by The Misfits. [ 57:03 || 27.6 MB ]

Honestly, these Power Records adaptations of the Planet of the Apes movies are awful. Horrible, lifeless, and poorly acted, even. And the twist ending of the first one lacks the power of its movie counterpart. But there's a certain retro charm about them. Sort of. [ 53:40 || 26.3 MB ]
