  1. As I did with Hawk & Dove, first let me praise DC Comics for trying something different when they launched OMAC as part of the DCnU. An obscure character to say the least, they tried to give him a bit of the spotlight. The problem is, when your series never explains who the lead characters are, what they can do, and what their motivations are, your book has failed.

  2. Okay, so there's good news and bad news. Good news: The Tirades are back with a new episode. Bad news: They had to suffer through Catwoman, a movie both hosts agree is in the top three worst they've ever covered. It features lots of CG, easy acrobatics, and a really old Sharon Stone. Also, the worst line of dialog in the history of the Tirades. Visit http://tranquiltirades.wikia.com. [ 1:52:01 || 54.1 MB ]

  3. Ladies and gentlemen, the fourth season of Buffy< is finally at its end, and boy howdy, it's the most cracktastic episode ever! How many layers down to you have to go to get to some of the meanings in the dreams? How much of the next few seasons' worth of character development and plot arcs were hinted at in said dreams? And who is the cheese guy? Join Will and Hannah as they watch "Restless," and cap off this season of Buffy. [ 1:13:35 || 35.7 MB ]

  4. Welcome to the show, and step over the one-legged dog on the way in. This week, Desmond and Darryll dive headfirst into Robin Hardy's ill-advised modern Christians versus Pagans film: The Wicker Tree. Then Desmond tries to make sense of proto-video nasty Killer's Moon. Devil Dinosaur, Jr. presents a Stay Scary segment on the 1955 television show Confidential File: Horror Comics. Terror tunes aplenty: "Stealing a Page or Two from Pagans" by Superjoint Ritual, "Cowboys From Hell" by Pantera, "Keep Dreaming" by The Creepshow, "Civilization's Dying" by Zero Boys, and "I Started a Joke" by Faith No More. 5. So, Faith No More's Angel Dust is pretty good. Desmond is too strung out on caffeine from his own three-day binge of sleeplessness, so instead of crafting show notes, he decided to list just some of the tangents Damien and he covered: scaring vocal coaches, band names, Super Mario's underwater playlist, Adam "MCA" Yauch, Christopher Lee, the Sinestro Corps, growing old, the... perks of high school, The Spin Doctors (again), Inspector Gadget, David Hasselhoff, and many more after that, he's sure. But he stopped noting them. [ 1:50:32 || 53.3 MB ]

  6. The reason I loved DC Comics in the 1990s was because they took major chances by publishing books like Impulse, Aztek, Xero, Young Heroes in Love, Resurrection Man, Major Bummer, and Hitman. Some lasted while others didn't, but there was an air of excitement surrounding the company and it gave the industry a kick in the ass. So, when it comes to the DCnU, I greatly respect what they were trying with books like Hawk & Dove, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Voodoo, OMAC, Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE, and the new Resurrection Man series. But the problem is, when everything is supposed to be new and fresh — including Batman and Superman — the smaller books suffer for it.

  7. They're back! After a month off due to the death and resurrection of Dave's computer, the Shake and Blake boys return in a blaze of glory! In "The Harvest of Kairos," Tarrant plans some piracy but is unprepared for his old mentor Jarvik, who wins both the Liberator and Servalan's affections. In "The City at the Edge of the World," Vila gets more than he bargained for when the notorious Bayban the Butcher hires him to open an impregnable room. Plus, the Who count finally notches up a Doctor, Jarvik is hailed as the ultimate man, and Dave channels Ian's former co-host. [ 2:11:23 || 63.5 MB ]

  8. It's the end of the world as we know it, and Dread Media has a fine show to deliver! First up, Desmond and Darryll review the post-apocalyptic thriller The Divide. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. reviews Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga's The Walking Dead: The Rise of the Governor in an all-new Stay Scary. Then, after a rousing portrayal of Keith Richards at the end of the world in Tom Deja's Macabre Musical Theatre, Desmond goes solo on a review of This Is Not a Movie. Post-apocalyptic tunes aplenty: "My Apocalypse" by Metallica, "Atomic Bombs Away" by Blues Creation, "Chop Suey" by System of a Down, "We're All Gonna Die" by Slash featuring Iggy Pop, and "It's Only yhe End of the World" by Harley Poe. 9. The classic era of Doctor Who has come to a close, but before Dan and Mike move forward to the modern era, they take one last (and long) look at everything that's come before. Mixed in with a slew of listener e-mails are discussions of the stories they revisited, as well as plenty of lists chronicling their favorite Doctors, companions, cheesy moments, themes, quotes, and so much more! And some of the entires on these lists are guaranteed to surprise you! [ 6:04:15 || 175.2 MB ]

  10. Until recently, I had read very little of Jeff Lemire's work. Off the top of my head, I had read the first two or three issues of Animal Man, some of his Superboy run, and the first issue of Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE. So I was mostly unfamiliar with him, only knowing him by his growing reputation, as well as my deep love of those Animal Man books. So I thought he was the perfect choice to start off this new series of articles.

  11. Episode 25 of Big Damn Heroes is here, and, oh baby, we're at the season climax! On Angel, old faces appear in unexpected places, and the overarching plot for the rest of the series is set in motion. Over on Buffy, timelines are really screwed up, Spike and Giles own the show, tensions explode, and a character goes God tier. Do they make sense? No, not really. Also, the season ends. But wait, there's another episode of Buffy left? Oh, and that other thing Whedon did recently is briefly discussed. Join Hannah and Will for some shawarma as they discuss Buffy's "The Yoko Factor" and "Primeval," and Angel's "To Shanshu in LA." [ 1:10:20 || 34.1 MB ]

  12. This episode features a wildly varied double feature of reviews featuring Desmond and Darryll. First up is the first blockbuster of the summer: The Avengers. Then the classy nunsploitation flick Killer Nun goes under the microscope. The songs featured this week are "Live to Rise" by Soundgarden, "Under the Robe" by Amen, and the show is bookended by two Beastie Boys songs: "Gratitude" and "Egg Man." RIP Adam "MCA" Yauch and Michael Louis Calvillo. [ 1:36:47 || 46.7 MB ]

  13. Desmond and Damien know that feeling, it is The Real Thing. Faith No More's first band featuring alternative music legend Mike Patton on vocals. And boy are they happy about it?! Yes, they are. First up, they have news featuring previous bands covered on the podcast, and then they talk about the album cover without really saying anything for a ridiculous amount of time. But after the first 25 minutes, it's all Patton-era Faith No More goodness. The creepiness and the poppiness and the metalness are all talked about. But so are the New Kids on the Block. Twice! Of course: more band name updates, weird sex acts, and odd celebrity references. What would a show be without it? Damien makes faces, but only people who pay for the premium videocast version of the show get to see them. Also, where do the bad raisins go when they die? Listen to find out! [ 1:51:58 || 54.0 MB ]

  14. As the last dozen episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender approached in 2007, there were still plenty of unanswered questions. Since the point of the solar eclipse and The Day of Black Sun was made 16 months prior, I assumed it would have served as a series finale, but I was quite surprised to see the episode listed only halfway through the final season. (Hindsight being 20 / 20, who really wants to see the hero beat up an opponent who's at a disadvantage?)
