1. Colin Baker's final season of Doctor Who begins and comes to an end in this episode of Bigger on the Inside. In the 14-part "The Trial of a Time Lord," The Doctor must fight for his remaining lives against a supposedly immortal robot ("The Mysterious Planet"), a returned Sil ("Mindwarp"), vulgar-looking plant-monsters ("Terror of the Vervoids"), and his accuser: The Valeyard ("The Ultimate Foe")! As Dan and Mike say goodbye to Peri and Colin Baker, they greet Mel, have fun with the Vervoid costumes, and Mike discovers a new fetish: grannies with assault rifles. Episode 41

The most entercational podcast on the Internet is back with the start of a new playthrough: Beyond Good & Evil, easily the best game about green lipstick and pig uncles. The guys also talk about the history of Castlevania, funky bowling, and beating up teenagers. 3. In the coming days and weeks -- and then again when the books are set to be released this summer -- you'll be hearing a lot about Before Watchmen, the prequel to the critically acclaimed Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. As of this moment we're still only working on scraps of details; the creators involved and that the prequel will be a series of miniseries is all that's known, leaving the plots as question marks for the moment. And even if we knew the plots, it wouldn't smother the indignation that comic book readers are feeling. The idea of this project is one thing, but to actually bring it to life is another thing. And that, I will assume, is where most people will focus their anger. However, my stance is far from that. To read more, click here: A Few Words on Before Watchmen

Episode 19

It's episode 19, and Hannah is pretty sure that the Heroes have stumbled into Bizzaro World. Why? Well, because this season of Buffy isn't sucking anymore. In fact, it's actually good. Like, really good. Meanwhile, Angel kinda sucks. Oh, someone dies, and a familiar face returns. Also included are discussions of whether or not Doctor Who took inspiration from a certain episode, the realization that Doug Jones is following them, and use of the foreshadowing hammer! And there's plenty of nightmare fuel to go around, folks, so come on in, and sit down as Hannah and Will cover "Something Blue" and "Hush" from Buffy, and "Hero" and "Parting Gifts" fromAngel. Episode 231

This week, Darryll likes train movies. So, buckle up and please don't travel between cars, as he and Desmond check the tickets of the unsung hero of 1970s exploitation: Night Train Murders. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. takes a look at the classic Night of the Demon in a new Stay Scary. And this is the week we make it official as Tom Deja presents Macabre Musical Theatre. Other than the one Tom sings, songs included: "Coincidenze (Film Mix)" by Ennio Morricone, "Strangers on a Train" by Lovage, "Fear of the Dark" by Iron Maiden, and "Partytime (Zombie Version)" by 45 Grave. 6. It's a Huge Conspiracy! The Guns N' Roses era of Dropped D ends with a whimper. The boys cover the lamented Chinese Democracy this week in the final GNR episode, because, let's face it, there won't be another. Even if there is, Desmond will be long dead by then, and Damien will be busy transferring his stock in Mountain Dew Corp. into his retirement funds. So enjoy it while it lasts. Axl is a time traveler, Paul Huge rears his ugly head, a wager is made, and all sorts of nasty shenanigans are gone through. What do old Damien and Desmond sound like? Also, how old was the babysitter Desmond hired? When is it acceptable to have "sha-na-nas" in your lyrics? And, finally, what is the next band your intrepid podcasters will cover? Questions for the ages, my friends. [ 1:26:25 || 41.4 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/droppedd/episodes/droppedd_002-06.mp3

Episode 230

This huge episode has an interview with comic book legend Marv Wolfman about his career in horror comics and his upcoming revamp of Night Force at DC Comics. Then Darryll joins in for a review of the original The Hills Have Eyes. Devil Dinosaur, Jr. stops by with a brand new Stay Scary on the non-fiction Book of Lists: Horror. Tons of songs, too! "Creatures of the Night" by The Creepshow, "Night People" by Dio, "Earth A.D." by Earth Crisis, "Bad Moon Rising" by Leatherwolf, and "Dark Forces" by Killing Joke all get a spin on the terror turntable this week! Episode 18

We've hit episode 18, and our word for today is "abysmal." As in, "Buffy, season four." The Heroes cover some of the worst episodes in a while, but it's all worth it as they make it to a watermark episode of this season of Angel. Highlights of this episode include: Hannah having a small freak out over possibly the worst anthropologist in the history of ever, and Will instructing us on how to properly cook your Thanksgiving dinner. Join Hannah and Will as they cover Buffy's "The Initiative" and "Pangs", and Angel's "Bachelor Party" and "I Will Remember You." Also, you made a bear. Episode 229

After discussing Undocumented and political horror, Desmond is joined by Darryll to review Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Then, in a brand new Stay Scary, Devil Dinosaur, Jr. reviews the first collection in the 2000 AD Defoe comic series, Defoe: 1666. Also, great tunes on the horizon: "Immigrant Song" by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (feat. Karen O), "Hillbilly Joker" by Hank III, "London Dungeon (live)" by The Misfits, and "All My Friends Are Dead" by Turbonegro. 12. We got a new show, we got it good! Du-nuh-nu-nu! Yes, you knew that we always would! Du-nuh-nu-nu! We stop to tangent off, but Des edits out the coughs! Desmond and Damien grab a handful of pasta and cover their very first cover album: "The Spaghetti Incident?" So jump on the shame train and grab a suitcase full of puns and come along for the ride. Now, we all know Desmond's an unabashed GNR fan, but what happens when Damien starts bashing the original bands from these cover songs? Hearts will break. Also, this week's target is hipsters. Sorry, hipsters. Charles Manson for President 2012. [ 1:25:15 || 41.4 MB ] To listen, click here: http://www.earth-2.net/podcasts/droppedd/episodes/droppedd_002-05.mp3
13. Those who know comic book movies burn at the watch of Man-Thing. The Commonwealth Crew is back after far too long for another installment of Dread Reel-ief, and they're not happy about it. Because the film's a piece of shit. But it's a hilarious romp of cross-oceanic cinematic autopsy, and both medical examiners are smoking. 14. The 22nd season of Doctor Who comes to a close as The Doctor prevents a mutant from committing genocide ("Timelash"), and then he steps in as Davros attempts to turn humans into the new Dalek race ("Revelation of the Daleks"). From there the guys discuss the mini-episode "A Fix with Sontarans," the 18-month hiatus, and, sigh, "Doctor in Distress." Also, Peri does something useful, and Dan has an epic rant. Brace yourselves for a long one as Ian and Dave embark upon the epic series two finale "Star One," where Blake finally reaches his goal but soon finds that destroying it won't be as easy as he thought, and the Liberator must single-handedly defend the entire galaxy from an invading fleet. They also look back over series two, and bid a fond farewell to some main characters. Other topics covered are: the best way to defend yourself against space lettuce, trouble at the vicarage, and the triumphant return of statistician Ian. Episode 228

In this big ol' episode of Dread Media, a sense of normalcy returns as Darryll and Desmond take on the Japanese pseudo-slasher Gurozuka. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. presents a Stay Scary segment on William Hope Hodgson's Carnacki stories. Then Desmond returns with a bizarre, rambling review of Hidden. Help me. Songs are played: "Runner" by Andrew WK, "Cold Blows the Wind" by Ween, "Ghost" by Clutch, "Rehab" by Down, and "Your Lies Become You" by Monster Magnet. Episode 17 is finally here! And we're not just talking about the show and its unexpected vacation. Hannah is joined by a new co-host, and the Heroes get down and dirty as they cover what is the single worst episode of Buffy to date, and some other episodes of Buffy and Angel that aren't exactly spectacular, either. Join the Heroes as they slog through Buffy's "Beer Bad" and "Wild at Heart," and Angel's "Rm w/a Vu" and "Sense and Sensitivity." Also, I think someone just needs a hug. Episode 227

For the first episode of 2012, it's a huge one packed with reviews! First off, Aaron swims up to chat with Desmond about the surprisingly insane Shark Night. Then, in a brand new Stay Scary, Devil Dinosaur, Jr. reviews both Dick Briefer's Frankenstein from IDW and Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein from Dark Horse. Then Desmond goes solo on a review of the gory British thriller Don't Let Him In, and Bette "hammers" us with a review of Wake Wood from Hammer Films! There's also feedback and music, too! "A Swim with the Sharks" by Powerman 5000, "Jaws Theme Swimming" by Brand New, "Feed My Frankenstein" by Alice Cooper, "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and "New Years Eve" by Tom Waits. Check out zedwordblog.com for Aaron's dalliances with the dead (sharks not guaranteed). 21. This episode is so silly, Damien barely gets a greeting out before Desmond bursts into laughter. But once the boys start discussing Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion II, they talk about movie quotes sampled at the beginning of songs, documentaries about black metal, and world politics. And that's all while talking about "Civil War!" Cozy up around the fire with the family, and listen to Desmond giggle and Damien deliver his now-trademarked "HHWhat!" response for the holidays. Neither Desmond and Damien, nor the parent company of Dropped D, are responsible for any Hoon Pee or Days of Thunder one may experience while listening to this episode. It's your own damn fault. Also, which song is so ridiculous it brings up references to Katy Perry, Dante's Inferno, pro wrestling, and Nazis? You have to listen to find out! Hannah has a small emotional breakdown, Will kills your childhood a bit more, the Girlfriends shamelessly promote a campaign to save one of the shows listed here, and they generally have a very merry time. Also, an announcement on the future of Big Damn Heroes is included at the start, so be sure to listen to this holly jolly episode! Episode 226

Darryll got run over by a reindeer, but have no fear: this episode has enough dudes with names beginning with the letter D to shake a candy cane-shaped stick at. Damien joins Desmond once again to look at the unfortunate black comedy Two Front Teeth. Then Devil Dinosaur, Jr. officially debuts his new segment, Stay Scary, by reviewing William Castle's autobiography Step Right Up!: I'm Gonna Scare the Pants off America. There's tons of Christmas tune terror as long as you're still in the mood: "Cold Blooded Christmas" by Jon Lajoie, "The Christmas that Almost Wasn't" by Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk, "Step Right Up" by Tom Waits, and "Silent Night Deadly Night (acoustic)" by The Browns.
