A Nightmare on Elm Street: forgot to add this. John Saxon is kind of wasted. Nancy's mother is focused on but I kind of wish they went with her father more. Other than that, it's basically a masterpiece.

    Features: 124

    Shorts: 15

    Documentaries: 10

    Rewatches: 6

Nancy's mother - also wasted, from a technical standpoint.

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2: Simultaneously better and worse than the original. Honestly, it works as a counter to the original, going full in on the cosmic horror elements but it also fails because it leans so heavily into the Cenobite stuff. There are also a few too many flashbacks to the first film. It's a weird paradox. I would be interested in visiting the parallel universe where Julia became the villain of future films in the series instead of Pinhead.

IIRC, that was very much the route Barker/the producers wanted to go down, but Claire Higgins wasn't interested in more sequels. She is on record as saying for Hellraiser 2 "Well, I had to come back - I play the queen of Hell!"

  3. Also, how can a company that employs c.200 wrestlers and at least 80 on the main roster (Raw/Smackdown) release a PPV card of four matchs, and only add four matches on the day of the show - one of which is rematch of the recent KOTR finals?

As James used to say, I spit on your booking.

Barring lightning striking Brock on the way to the ring or New Day piling on him, Brock was always going to win. I think most people accepted that going in. But man they did not need to kill Kofi in under 10 seconds. Not only does it devalue Kofi, it devalues the belt.

And everyone who failed to beat him by extension.

I know it's been done to Bryan before, but it's testament to how little Vince rates/rated Kofi as a champion. No way would he have done that to Cena/Orton/Reigns.

Seriously, NXT is the only thing worth watching on WWE at this point, and even then, because it ultimately makes Vince money, I hope AEW continue to beat it in the ratings. Raw/Smackdown has justified AEW's existence, even if there's growing pains to be had.

  5. Yes, you can help influence not only the film Pandy & I use as the joint review, but the homework we assign each other to plot the range of their career. As announced in Episode 68, our subject will be Sir Ian McKellen.

Pandy & I will take an executive decision on what makes the joint review by Friday 20 October so get your ideas in before then!

NB) We will not be covering his X-Men movies, Richard III or The Shadow. We will also be closing out The Hobbit Trilogy, so pick well!

  6. Jericho's a legend - he's a walking car-wreck and his title match at All Out was easily the worst match on the card, but he's got eyes on the prize by shoot losing it, geting it back and launching a new meme over the process.

Hangman Page wouldn't have done either. Then again, he feels more like a Jericho c. 2000 - *close* to the title but not quite ready for the step up in the hierarchy. And yes, I remember Jericho having a night with the WWF belt before handing it back.

  7. Moreover, why now in 2019? I know that there was always this furore towards the Harry Potter books, but it's been 10 years since they were relevant and the film franchise is basically winding down.

I know the answer to "Why now?" is usually "Trump/the culture Trump has engendered" but I'm not even sure that's the reason here.

  8. Stayed up to watch AEW live and got home from the casino showing it at 5am.

Pretty good card from top to bottom, with only the main event falling flat. I agree with the choice of winner, but with a caveat:

    Spoiler

Jericho has the name value that AEW needs whilst getting its TV show off the ground, but you need better guys than Page to get a really good match out of Jericho, given his age. I think Page will get his time, but he really didn't click with Jericho in this match.

Also, I like the fact AEW has pyro for entrances. It spooked the Rhodes' dog though, which was a bad thing.

  9. Yes, you can help influence not only the film Pandy & I use as the joint review, but the homework we assign each other to plot the range of their career. As announced in Episode 67, our subject will be Evangeline Lilly.

Pandy & I will take an executive decision on what makes the joint review by Friday so September so get your ideas in before then!

NB) We will be covering Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in this episode should you wish to send in feedback for this. We will not be covering her MCU films or Lost.

Jackass: The Movie: this has to be the first time I've watched a movie three times in a year since we've been counting on this forum. I am sure I watched School of Rock 297 times in 2010, but anyway. I watched this with my oldest and my dad. I don't think a theatrical comedy has been made since this was released that is anywhere near as funny.

    Features: 90

    Shorts: 15

    Documentaries: 9

    Rewatches: 6

I agree with the sentiment - I was exactly the right age for Jackass when it came out - but Hot Fuzz came out later, in 2008.

  11. Yes, you can help influence not only the film Pandy & I use as the joint review, but the homework we assign each other to plot the range of their career. As announced in Episode 66, our subject will be Viggo Mortensen.

Pandy & I will take an executive decision on what makes the joint review by Wednesday 14 August so get your ideas in before then!

NB) We will be covering LOTR: Return of the King in this episode should you wish to send in feedback for this.
