  1. Thanks for that - and AJR, you're more than welcome to comment. Please do. Interesting to hear about the Australian impact of Pratchett too. Latest podcast is up. This week, we're talking about 'The Shawshank Redemption', one of our favourite movies.
  2. And the latest one is on the Terry Pratchett 'Watch' Discworld Books. I don't know how big a name he is in the states - anyone care to let me know?
  3. We were having problems a little while ago, but I was under the impression it was sorted. However, I know nothing about iTunes (since I don't use it), and Matt deals with that. Any chance you could let me know what error message you're getting? In the meantime, if you go to www.geekplanetonline.com, you can download it direct. Also, there's a link to the RSS feed, which may make some difference? Per....haps. I don't know. I am a technical luddite. Any info you can give me, I'll pass on.
  4. If you weren't already aware, the latest podcast is on 'My Neighbour Totoro' and is up on www.geekplanetonline.com. It's also under an hour! Go us!
  5. Yep. Past tense of 'forgo'. Cheers - Yeah, I looked at it as the final part of the column coming two paragraphs above that, but your point is very much taken.
  6. Since I know there are wrestling fans on here (as I got to know most of you via the Oratory), I'd be interested in thoughts on my latest 'Standing at the Edge' column. I'm trying to explain why I'm into wrestling to a group of non-wrestling fans.
  7. We've redesigned the site from scratch. I think it's a major improvement - what do you think?
  8. Fight Club special is up and running. Commence 'don't talk about it' jokes. Oh, and could some kind person rename this thread 'The Eclectic Podcast', please?
  9. (note - if Mods want to merge this with the podcast thread, please do feel free. I do think they're separate things, but I'll go with your thoughts on it). I've recently taken over as Editor of GeekPlanet. Matt is remaining owner/publisher, but I'll be taking on board more of the day-to-day stuff (Matt, for those of you who don't know, being my co-host on the Eclectic Podcast). We've decided to make some pretty major changes to the site. The changes, and the reasoning behind it, are explained in the first GeekPlanet edition of 'Standing at the Edge'. Check out www.geekplanet.co.uk for all the information. As usual, any and all feedback is appreciated.
  10. It is a bit difficult to talk about, I'll say that.
  11. Actually, I haven't come to the right place to advertise something werewolf-related. I made a mistake with the schedule. This week isn't werewolf stuff. This week is Fight Club.
  12. And nor would I. I enjoyed it immensely. There's a whole load of bad in there, don't get me wrong. The acting is subpar, the War Machines themselves look awful, and it appears to be based around WOTAN conquering one small section of Tottenham Court Road, but it's also a lot of fun. Hartnell's on top form, you get a VERY Tennant-like 'standing in the path of destruction' shot and even the surreality of the Doctor being referred to as 'Doctor Who' repeatedly.
  13. Next one will be going up at the end of this week. The theme is Werewolves. We'll be covering 'Dog Soldiers' amongst other movies. We've found the feedback helpful from here, guys. Did anyone listen to the Watchmen podcast? Any thoughts on it?
  14. Since nobody seems to be heeding my words here, I'll bump it and point out that the DVD comes on on the 16th April from Amazon.co.uk. Trust me. This rocks SO much.
  15. As daft as it'll sound, it was one of the extras that convinced me on that one. Tony Benn talking about the creation of the Post Tower in London. Oh yes.
  16. This is no longer accurate. For Hartnell, I have The Beginning boxed set (An Unearthly Child, The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction), The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Web Planet, and The War Machines. For Troughton, I recently picked up The Mind Robber. Mine's no longer accurate either. I picked up 'The Aztecs' based on your podcast, and 'The War Machines'. The Aztecs is bloody fantastic.
  17. And the Watchmen podcast is up for download. Three person team, this time.
  18. Just a heads up that the final part of the Alan Moore special's has been recorded and should be up and on the website by Friday at the latest. This was all about Watchmen (book and movie). In the meantime, if you want to build yourself up for this, there is an article about Why Chris Gannon WON'T Be Watching The Watchmen, and my own review of the movie over at GeekPlanet
  19. Listened to this one today, purely for the RIP review. I disagree entirely, but I can sort of see where you're coming from. The thing is, Morrison's stuff always tends to call back to what he was doing earlier in his run. It's the culmination of two (three?) years worth of story, and it does call back to what has taken place within those three years. I don't see it so much as being penalised for not reading earlier stuff. I see it more as coming into book four of a series and complaining that it relies on books 1-3. Now, DC should market their damn stuff better. They market it to make money, which is good, but in such a way that they don't make more money - because nobody is going to buy the rest of the run. Finally, I liked it because I know my Batman history, and I know the little details that he's referring back to a lot of the time. The idea that all of this actually took place within the last fifteen years is something that brings a smile to my face. (Incidentally, the 'Black Journals' were Bruce's accounts of what happened during the weird fifties run when he was fighting aliens every week).
  20. Eh, I don't know. I live in London, and you get that *all* the time. Just because I was on Oxford Street when the decision was made that my wife and I were getting divorced doesn't mean that I can't watch Oxford Street without thinking about it. Repetition tends to dull those things.
  21. In absolute fairness, it was worth your inconvenience.
  22. This is one of the best things on TV in a while. Being Human is a BBC comedy/drama, which manages to mix both in the unusual sense of being very funny in places, and getting the drama spot on. A werewolf, a vampire and a ghost share a house in Bristol, as they try to fit in more with the general population. It features one of the more unsettllingly mundane vampire baddies in a long time, and it's just generally superb. It was originally shown as one of a number of pilots, and it was one that the BBC didn't care about making into a full series. They intended to make 'Phoo Action', a rather crap, but more mainstream-style show into a full series. Petitions from fans of the pilot later, they made this. It's six episodes long, and has me more emotionally invested in the characters than anything else I've seen in ages. Trust me, torrent it or buy it when it comes out on DVD soon. And Yoda? Remember who introduced you to 'Blink'. My track record is good on this shit.
  23. Cheers for letting me know. We were having some problems with iTunes, so I think it was doing that while Matt was trying to sort it out. If it keeps being a problem after you see this, please let me know.
