Missy
According to Bendis, Mighty Avengers will be ending with issue #20, and will be replaced by a title called Dark Avengers. My guess is that by the time Secret Invasion is over, Tony Stark will no longer be the head of SHIELD, so his Avengers team will be dissolved, making way for a SHIELD-run / black ops team of Avengers. ragernok2002
I thought thats what would happen to New Avengers especially with members like Ronin, Iron Fist, Echo and Logan
drqshadow
I won't mourn the end of MA, since it was far and away the weaker of the two Avengers ongoings in my eyes, but I'm not crazy about the new team that's going to spring up in its place. I'll give it a shot, I guess...
Dread
I think Cho's artwork masked a lot of that book's failings. It's been awful since he left. I guess it wasn't very good when he was on it but at least it was pretty. I'll probably drop it. I'm burning out on Bendis and a lot of Marvel's stuff altogether. Dan
Bendis could really stand to take a sabbatical. Once Secret Invasion is over, I really hope he takes some time off to recharge.
Missy
Turns out Newsarama made an error: Mighty Avengers isn't ending with issue #20, that's when Bendis is leaving the book to launch Dark Avengers. The title of the thread has been changed to reflect the correction.
ragernok2002
so there will be four Avengers Books? I'm all for Bendis leaving MA so each of the three current Avengers books would feel different.
Missy
Dan Slott will be taking over writing duties of Mighty Avengers.
Dread
Ha! So I'm leaving at the right time then...
Missy
Here's what Des is thinking: "Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Steve Englehart, Gerry Conway, Jim Shooter, David Michelinie, Roger Stern, Walt Simonson, John Byrne and Bob Harras. (We'll forget about the Rob Liefeld / Jim Valentino / Jeph Loeb era.) Kurt Busiek, Geoff Johns, Brian Michael Bendis... and now Dan Slott. UGH!" The Mad Hooker
Really? I am LOVING this move. To hear everything that Slott is saying, it sounds like I will FINALLY be reading my favorite book ever again. I love that he keeps referring to them as "the AVENGERS Avengers" because quite frankly I am missing reading a team that feels like the Avengers to me.
