JackFetch
Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J are in talks to star in CBS' "NCIS" spinoff. The pilot for an offshoot from the hit procedural will air as an episode of "NCIS" this spring, just as the pilot for "NCIS" aired as an episode of "JAG." O'Donnell would play Callen, an average guy born to do undercover work as the ultimate chameleon, taking on different identities. LL Cool J is eyed for the role of Sam Hannah, a former U.S. Navy Seal who is tough but charming. CBS has been hot on LL Cool J. In 2006, the network signed the actor-rapper to a rich development deal, which led to him starring in the 2007 CBS pilot "The Man." Meanwhile, "Pushing Daisies" star Anna Friel has emerged as the most sought-after actress this pilot season. She has three offers to choose from: ABC dramas "I, Claudia" and "Eastwick" and CBS drama "House Rules." Friel's "Daisies" co-star Lee Pace was offered a pilot but passed. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/conten...1bda7dc515be228 LL Fucking Cool J! MaxPower
Interesting, so it's not so much as a spin off as it is using an existing show as a launching pad. Splitting hairs, but I always thought a spin-off as an existing/established character(s) getting their own show. Frasier, Angel, etc. I like both these guys, so this could be good. Stavros
I recently found out that Airwolf was originally meant to be a Magnum PI spinoff.
NightAngle04
Good for Robin. I always thought he was a decent enough actor, and have been surprised he hasn't done more movies. Perhaps television will help his career.
JackFetch
The team of naval investigators on the "NCIS" spinoff is coming into focus. Louise Lombard, Peter Cambor and Daniela Ruah have been cast as leads in the hot CBS/CBS Par pilot, which will air as an episode of "NCIS" in the spring, just as the pilot for "NCIS" aired as an episode of "JAG." The three would join Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J, who are still in negotiations for the other two leads in the spinoff.
Lombard will play Clara, a role perceived as the female lead on the ensemble drama. A former major in the military police, Clara is an intelligent, sharp investigator who can look after herself. Cambor ("Notes From the Underbelly") will play the quick-witted Nate, the team's conscience and beating heart. Nate is an operational psychologist and a walking encyclopedia of American culture. Ruah will play Kensi, a super bright young investigator who studied forensics and criminology in college. Brit Lombard is joining the "NCIS" franchise after a stint on another hit CBS crime procedural, "CSI," where she played Detective Sofia Curtis for three years. She also played the title lead in the ABC pilor "Judy Got a Gun." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/conten...631138185f3f8d2
Guest DCAUFan1051
ok first off question: were any of the NCIS main cast in JAG? if so then yes NCIS counts as a spinoff. However if not even one of the main characters is heading to this "spinoff" then it is really just a copycat of NCIS not a true Spinoff! JackFetch
ok first off question: were any of the NCIS main cast in JAG? if so then yes NCIS counts as a spinoff. However if not even one of the main characters is heading to this "spinoff" then it is really just a copycat of NCIS not a true Spinoff! Spinoffs don't have to have the same characters, just be in the same universe. CSI Miami and NY are spinoffs from CSI and no characters carried over. Here's a list of spinoffs, including some I didn't know about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_television_spin-offs
JackFetch
LL Cool J is getting on the gumshoe beat. The rapper-actor has been set to star in CBS' planned spinoff of "NCIS." He'll play a tough but charming former Navy SEAL who works undercover for the NCIS unit in L.A. and is an expert on the Middle East. The spinoff of CBS' durable drama will air as one half of a two-part episode of "NCIS" later this season. "NCIS" showrunner Shane Brennan created the untitled spinoff and exec produces for CBS Paramount Network TV. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800054...=1&nid=2562 So now we know the show is about an NCIS team based out of Los Angeles, which is strange because the big navel base is in San Diego. I thought for sure they would go with the Army CID with this new series.
