Missy
It's long been suggested that we have some sort of Book of the Month / Book Club-type thing around here, and I couldn't agree more. The problem is choosing a book everyone is interested in. Who gets to decide that? Well, we all do... sort of. Instead of one person picking the book, I'll post a poll with several options. After a week, once a clear winner has been established, we'll begin discussing it. I've also decided that each poll will have three options: DC, Marvel, independent. This way there's a fair balance. Okay, let's get to the choices: Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters by Mike Grell "Oliver Queen decides to give up his trick arrows and settle down in Seattle with his one true love, Dinah Lance, while becoming a true urban hunter." This is a very mature, very realistic take on Green Arrow. Weapon X by Barry Windsor-Smith "Wolverine's a lot of things to a lot of people, but to one infamous enclave he was nothing but a weapon. And weapons kill people. They found that out well enough." A dark, bloody book that tells a crucial portion of Logan's origin. 30 Days of Night by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith "In a sleepy, secluded Alaska town called Barrow, the sun sets and doesn't rise for over thirty consecutive days and nights. From the darkness, across the frozen wasteland, an evil will come that will bring the residents of Barrow to their knees. The only hope for the town is the Sheriff and Deputy, husband and wife who are torn between their own survival and saving the town they love." Shockingly violent and ultra stylized take on vampires. There are your three choices. Now vote!
Dread
I'll say 30DoN as the film's about to be released I'm due for a re-read.
Missy
Maybe all the hype killed it for me, but I felt 30 Days of Night was rather lackluster. My vote has yet to be cast. Weapon X is one of my favorite comic stories ever, but The Longbow Hunters is equally awesome.
James D.
I'm always up for more Wolverine or Green Arrow reading material.
Blane
I never got into Wolverine no matter how hard I tried. I'd say Green Arrow since it's a character thats mostly new to me.
Stavros
30 days is awesome, I'd recommend that. The Longbow Hunters would be a close second since I'm a big fan of Green Arrow but I havn't read it.
