  1. So, Mark Waid loved the pilot.
Not only is the #Flash pilot EXCELLENT, but (for this) the dead-mom retcon doesn't grate. Great show, and Tom Cavanagh is astounding.

@gberlanti @AJKreisberg Seriously, you two. #Flash is really, really good. You made it work. Thanks for remembering he ENJOYS HIS WORK.

  2. Continuity was never very high on my list of concerns when it comes to anything really, so none of those really bothered me.

I really enjoyed the movie, the acting as always was strong, there was a lot of cleverness with powers, and there was GASP a bit of fun, in the form of Quicksilver. He was the real surprise of the movie. I'm so happy that he's in the follow-up.

Yeah, lets just assume that none of the realities in this tie in exactly with X-men continuity. and not worry about it too much.

I really only have one question and one comment-

Is the next film going to take place in the 80's, with the newer cast of characters? Or in the ideal future with the reunited original cast?

And my comment- Displaced time Logan basically killed happy ideal reality Logan by displacing him at the end. So instead of a basically ok teacher dude we have a shell-shocked victim of a holocaust against his people who was forced to kill the woman he loves. Yay?

The next movie has the First Class cast, with Jackman.
  3. Disagree on two things with you guys. First is Osgood. I love her because she's the fangirl represented in the show. It's been mentioned on the podcast that the fangirls are a huge part of the new show's success, and paying tribute to them in the form of a character was really cool. As for the line "The Doctor will save me" I didn't have a problem with that because it was a very human moment of weakness, and just after that she gets over her fear and causes the Zygon to fall over.
Also, the point about Smith being like Colin Baker and McCoy. As far as iconic episodes, 11 had Eleventh Hour, Vincent and the Doctor, the Big Bang two-parter, and the Doctor's Wife. Is that really any less than what 9 and 10 had?
But yeah great episode guys! Love that the tangent about Winter Soldier was called back to during the review segment. Very Day of the Doctor as far as something innocuous turning into an important plot point. ;)
  4. I'm conflicted. While I agree that 7 doesn't reach the heights other seasons have, I don't think it's as bland as it's been said. Cold War,Hide and The Crimson Horror are really good. I think The Power of Three(I do agree that it is very flawed though) The Bells of St John and Rings of Akhaten are fun too. My views could change with a rewatch however, as this season was the first time I started watching week by week.

  5. So while laying in bed with the flu, with nothing better to do, I've been thinking of how to keep the original ending. I did like the finale but I do agree that that was not the way to go. Here's a few of my thoughts as how to restructure the season to have that ending be more viable.
    1. Have the wedding take place over the first 13 episodes. Get rid of the filler. Last scene of episode 14 is The Mother seeing Ted, as a callback to season 1 with Victoria, who you may know as the first choice for the Mother in the early days of the show.
    2. The rest of the season will be the married life of Barney and Robin. Show why their marriage could fall apart. Parallel to that is the love story of Ted and the Mother. Tracy's illness will have a little more foreshadowing beyond having Ted cry at the mention of "a mother who won't be able to see her daughter's wedding"
    3. Establish that at that point in their lives, Ted and Robin's feelings for each other is totally platonic. That's how I chose to interpret the end. They didn't want their best friend to end up alone.
I'm not 100% sure with this since the key moment is "and that's how I met your mother" but that's what I came up with.

  6. I'm interested. I just wish it was on a cable network instead of NBC.

Considering what they've been able to do on Hannibal though, I don't think there'll be a problem as far as content.

Now if they'll only read the right material, i.e. the classic Hellblazer and not the New 52 Constantine.
