AICN is reporting that Ryan Reynolds is playing Deadpool in the Wolverine movie.
Interesting...

just as we lost the Wonder Twins
Maya and Alejandro?
That's be them. Any time an episode was in danger of becoming interesting or staying on point, it would immediately zip over to the twins' storyline and the whole thing would screech to a halt. It was a miscalculated storyline that took forever to either A) do something, or B) end. Even Tim Kring admitted in an interview with... I want to say CBG, but it might have been Wizard... that they weren't working and they were trying to resolve their storyline quickly. By that point, though, the damage was done and people were leaving the show. Kring said that they had forgotten what worked in the first season and needed to get back on track. Which they really did towards the end; the last month or so was heads and shoulders above the rest of the season that preceded it.

It's a shame that the season got killed by the strike just as it was starting to pick up steam(i.e., just as we lost the Wonder Twins). I was really looking forward to Volume 3.

Where the hell is Charlie-27?

HA! Give the song another listen: Rob likes the book, but doesn't see the point of telling a retro tale that barely fits into continuity.
And yes, that's exactly what Jenny's afraid of.
I was only kidding; I can't really see my way to letting questionable continuity ruin my enjoyment of an otherwise entertaining story, though.

That data is very inaccurate.
In its defense, I am quite broke.
Same here.
Psshhh! I swim in a guitar shaped swimming pool full of bourbon while being massaged by Hustler models...what's a matter with you poor folk?
Damned Canadian/American exchange rate...

If Bob Mould heard you call Nevermind something new he'd punch you in the nose
No, you're right. Nevermind was something new on MTV and commercial radio, although Husker Du and the Melvins (and plenty of others) had been around longer; just without the same kind of exposure. Nirvana was just the band that happened to break through All props should go to who came before.
It was a damn solid album.
You're all wrong, though Hootie and the Blowfish were what really marked the rise of the alternative scene.
Ow!

I shot, and shot, and shot, and that wretched abomination from the very depths of Perdition just... wouldn't... die.

I like Pearl Jam but I think that they are one of the most overrated bands of all time. One of. Nirvana is the most overrated band of all time.
Pretty much, yeah.
But they changed the music industry! Kurt Cobain was the greatest human being in the history of humans!!![/oratory]
Nirvana was hellishly overhyped, but you really can't discount how awful the state of music was in the late 80s. Lord knows I tried - I really tried - to suck it up and like hair metal, but it was just so stupid. Nevermind really was something new, and if people went overboard praising it as the savior of the music industry, I know that I personally saw it at the time as proof that new music didn't necessarily have to suck.

Going into the comic shop and rifling through back issues and grabbing this week's trades definitely has a visceral feeling that walking into Border's and buying a trade that reprints material from a year ago lacks. The comic shop lends itself to a certain excitement. "Yay! The new Three-Legged Goat Boy is here! I've been waiting all month for this!" Also, with floppies you get the buzz about what's happening next month, where is this storyline going, all that. That absolutely can't be denied.
However, floppies in the end will run you on average almost double what the eventual trade will cost. That's not insignificant.
At the end of the day, you figure out which is more important to you. For me personally, comics are too expensive to buy indiscriminately anymore, and I wind up waiting for the trade. By which time, I usually know what happens.

John Madden-directed "Killshot,"
Are they talking about the same John Madden I'm thinking of...?
Different guy. He's a British director.
Too late. All I can think about is the sportscaster.
"What each of these wrestlers wants to do, the thing that's really important, if they want to win, is that each of them wants to pin their opponent for three seconds. If our guy can do that, if he can pin his opponent for three consecutive seconds, while simultaneously avoiding getting pinned himself, I'd say he's got a good chance of winning this match."

I knew it! I knew you were out to crush my soul!
Well, the joke's on you! You're too late! My ex-wife and the financial services industry conspired to do it years ago!

You didn't teach 12th grade physics at Stoughton High School in 1992 by any chance, did you?

I seriously had "Kyrie" running through my head all last week and had finally managed to get it out today. It's back now.
Thanks, Adventures of Power. Thanks loads.

Mike: Sorry, I thought the art was great. it's incredibly detailed, the dinosaurs rock, Stegron looks strong and menacing and not like a retarded Hanna-Barbera character. Despite Shanna's huge... tracts of land.
(My opinion, of course, has nothing to do with the fact that Joyce Chin donated $17.50 to the Daniel J. Toland Big-Ass TV Fund. Together, we can buy Dan a big-ass TV.)
Des: According to Wikpedia (It's flawless, I tell you! Flawless!):
The team emerges from the aftermath of Marvel's Civil War crossover event. The lineup includes elements of the original Canadian super-team Alpha Flight as well as other superheroes, mostly American superheroes on loan from S.H.I.E.L.D. thanks to Iron Man and the Initiative. The team roster includes U.S. Agent, Arachne, Beta Ray Bill, Talisman and Michael Pointer as the new Guardian.[1]So, I don't know if it's actually an official Initiativ branch, and I acknowledge that I could have worded that better. However, it's hip deep in the Initiative, because SHIELD has its fingers in the pie and sent over USAgent and Arachne.

That, and there really wasn't a whole lot else opening this weekend. And speaking of shitty movies, look at what the other four biggest-opening movies of the weekend were.
