  1. "It's part 'MacGyver,' part contemporary morality tale about race and personal discovery, part comedy and part 'Cast Away' meets 'Survivor,"' Silverman said.

I love that part. It's like they just took a bunch of random shit, threw it together and made a show. I bet they had a wheel with a bunch of words on it to create a description.

I'm seing the "manatees-in-a-tank-pointing-at-balls" strategy a work here.

  2. I punched Chad Kroeger in the back of the head once. That's another story...

    I'm sure he deserved it.

On the whole, I'm a huge fan of local music. Dropkick Murphys rule over all. Aerosmith, though? Yeesh.

  3. Whippersnappers.

Don't listen to 'em, Mike. I mean, sure, your eyes start to go, your back starts to hurt, you grunt pretty loudly when you try to get out of a chair, and you start to not be able to remember where you parked your car, but other than all that, 30's not... so...

    ... what was I saying?

  4. I don't get why Gambit would be in this thing. I fear for him.

I approve the Reynolds casting, although he's the perfect Wally West.

A couple of years ago, I absolutely would have agreed with you. I think Reynolds might be getting a little old to play Wally now, though.

  5. This is a great first installment. I got the set for Christmas this past year and my mom was like "You better like this, it was expensive." I was like "Duh, I loved this when I was a kid!"

Then I watched the pilot, and only the pilot.

I can kinda see that. This definitely requires allowing yourself to be in a certain mindset. TV was paced and written differently back then. That has to be borne in mind a little bit.

I'll give the series another shot as long as you're covering it. Well done, sir.

  6. From TV Guide

At least now the first stage of grief can get under way. No, not shock — the snarky postmortem! What do you think felled Bionic Woman in the end? Was it the lackluster pilot? The absence of a clear, creative vision? Not enough Starbuck? Too much Isaiah Washington? All of the above?

Personally, I think it was the lack of focus. Each episode had a drastically different feeling then the one before it. They left out whole sub plots like that the sister was a hacker not allowed to be near a computer. It was just a mess writing wise.

For me, the show just wasn't any fun. At all. I can forgive a lot, but this series was just joyless.

  7. Warner Bros. will turn anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo's six-volume graphic novel masterwork "Akira" into two live action feature films, the first of which is being fast tracked for release in summer 2009, reports Variety.

WB, which had the "Akira" rights several years ago, only to let them lapse and then recapture them in a spirited bidding battle, is planning a twin-bill that the filmmakers have described as Blade Runner meets City of God.

The studio has closed a seven-figure rights acquisition deal with Kodansha, and has set Ruairi Robinson to direct a script by Gary Whitta (Book of Eli). Andrew Lazar's Mad Chance will produce with Appian Way's Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson.

Each feature will be comprised of three of the books in Otomo's series. The drama takes place in "New Manhattan," a metropolis that was rebuilt after being destroyed 31 years ago.

Robinson, an Irish helmer who has been Oscar-nominated for his short film and commercials work, is making his feature debut.

    ... WHY?!?

  8. Oh god, its like Lion El'Jonson leaving Caliban in the hands of Luthor when he left to fight the Horus Heresy. Or go to Disneyworld. Same thing really.

This made me feel like Picard in the "Darmok" episode of TNG...

A statement that in itself would make most people feel like Picard in the "Darmok" episode of TNG...

    Brain...eating...own...brain...

    At Tanagra.

  9. What are some of your favorites?

Thanks to LimeWire, I was able to listen to some of my old favorites. The theme to Rocko's Modern Life rules on every imaginable level.

Then there's Inspector Gadget and Mighty Mouse, too. God, this is putting me on a nostalgia trip.

    We're ooooff to outer space...

    We're leeeeaving Mother Earth...

    To saaaaaave the human race!

    Our Star Blazers!

  10. That, and there really wasn't a whole lot else opening this weekend. And speaking of shitty movies, look at what the other four biggest-opening movies of the weekend were.

I actually liked Constantine and Ghost Rider. I also didn't think Daredevil was as bad as everyone else seems to think.

50 First Dates however, sucked ass.

I actually liked Constantine quite a bit, although it's far from a good movie.

And Daredevil was a thousand times beter in the Director's Cut.
