  1. Pretty self-explanatory. I have a ton of comics but I have to read digital or trade wait these days. I don't really have time to go back and read individual issues.

So is eBay a viable option? Or is there somewhere else? I really don't have the money to get anything graded unfortunately so I guess my options are limited.

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks that DC has gone too far over the line with the Joker. It seems like the writers are all trying to write "the most awesome Joker story ever!!!!" Snyder has said repeatedly that Joker is his favorite character, so he's trying to make this some sort of ultimate crime. But in reality I'm fucking bored out of my mind with the character and the way he is used.

  3. That said, I hate the general comic book fan perspective of fearing change or hating something because it's different than the thing you loved before.

Is it OK if I hate it because it's poorly planned, poorly executed and ill-defined, and has destroyed the stories of most of my favorite characters (Wally, Tim, Booster, etc.) because of a self-created crisis and poor leadership?

I'm really not giving a flying fuck about The Rot or The Red or The Green or The Rainbow or The Violet or any of that other shit. I don't like horror books and shock books, no matter how well they're written. In Animal Man #0, they depict a newborn being suffocated in its crib. Not off-panel, but center panel as just another moment. Fuck that shit. What's good about that?

Batman stories are more violent than ever - though I admit Snyder is great.

The Flash as a highlight? That book looks pretty, reads shitty.

Wonder Woman is interesting, I'll give you that.

Aquaman is still on the first real story arc after more than a year and I still don't know what's going on. But it is fun.

You can proclaim you're not a DC fanboy, but holy crap yes you are.

  4. Hey, everybody. I just wrote a story about a comic book writer who left the business to join the Army and became a special forces combat photographer. He served from Jan. 2009 until February of this year. When he got out, he teamed up with former Marvel and DC artist Josh Hood to start writing a fictionalized limited series about his experiences.

Here's the link to my story, which goes much more in depth, of course:

Here's a link to the Kickstarter project, which has a synopsis of the series and a lot of art from Hood:

One cool thing about this project is that it drew Hood back into comics. After making a good living as a commercial illustrator (he had burned out on superheroes, apparently), this script hooked him right away. They're 3/4 of the way to their goal right now and the Kickstarter project ends at the end of the month.
