  1. Guitar Hero is the only thing keeping me company at college without any real access to new games. Although I'm tempted to vote GT4, but I was terribly dissapointed with it after such the huge wait from GT3 and very little improvement.

  2. Although the controls are a bit different from what one would expect from a fps, I don't think it hindered the gameplay at all. After all, I think it stayed true to the Metriod style exceptionally well and was easily one of the best games the Gamecube has to offer.

  3. Ach, damn. Jade Empire AND KotOR in the same round? That's a shame, because they're my two fave XBox games (well, behind Halo 2).

The gameplay in both was excellent, but I'm more of a fan of KotOR's style, so it gets my vote.

  4. ?

I found the Cactaur quest pretty long, but not nearly that frustrating. Alas, that's probably b/c I cheated (gamefaqs). Still, even if you failed to sneak up on 'em after three tries you got their sigil anyways, so it wasn't too bad.

Oh, and did you have "No Encounters" equiped? Because that made it much more bearable.

  5. IGN Top 100

They ran one of these a while ago, and I remember the negative reaction from around here. And, although it pleases me to see some personal faves slip in there (like Golden Sun), it dosn't seem much better this time.

    100. Virtua Fighter 4: Evo - Only 100??? Behind Tekken 5??? How awful.

    82. Super Mario Bros - ... How can this be so low? It's mind-boggling.

Various current-gen sports and wrestling games in there with "all time greats". Makes perfect sense.

And some of this makes little sense., like MGS2 and MGS2: Substance both being on the list and being within two spots of each other. I shudder to think how the rest of the list will pan out.

  6. Yikes, harsh. Easily the worst game in the Jak trilogy and I agree on most accounts: despite the forgettable story, gameplay was still quite solid. I doubt the graphics and sound have stood the test of time, but then it was released in the first year of the PS2, right? Still, I don't think it was that bad as to bring down the game that much.

The article itself was a great, in-depth analysis. Good breakdown of the game and picking each piece of the platformer apart.
