  1. This screams farva, and a good chance to add some more wrestlers to the Tiradesverse
  2. Track down Kevin Kelly's appearances on a podcast called Place To Be Nation, he eventually became a host of his own show over there as well. Anyway, anytime they talk about Michael Cole, or about what happened there, where Kelly was passed over for the Smackdown gig, there does seem to be a lot of resentment for how things ended up, and his eventually being let go by the company, and for Cole as well. So much so that he's been asked if he'd ever go back there, even with the promise of everything Cole does today on a silver platter, and he said that he wouldn't go back. Too much emotional baggage, especially since he has a full time occupation and ROH is more of a side gig for him today. Speaking of which, Corino seems to be in and out of podcasts all the time. He had one going on PTBN, but too much time with ROH and his indy fed in Crystal Coast, North Carolina, along with managing his son Colby's career, put that on permanent hiatus. He then showed up earlier this year on MLW, but I haven't heard much about it in recent months, and recently was brought on a Philadelphia Phillies fan podcast to talk baseball once a week! Follow him on Twitter, he is very entertaining on there.
  3. You're really overthinking this. LOL! Of course, I just thought it was amusing to note here =;) Wouldn't surprise me though if there were some over the top pretentiousness going on with some blog or podcast, or internet forum poster by calling Brie Danielson Brie Bryan though.
  4. I'm not entirely sure what point you're trying to make, but I think it's a fair comment to say that Austin was a selfish in-ring worker. If you listen to The Attitude Era Podcast (one which Kellen once helped out), you'll note that Austin would randomly bury Jeff Jarrett in the summer of 1999, or would get in heat-saving stunners on heels after losing at Armageddon 2000 or, particularly, the Three Stage of Hell at No Way Out 2001 which HHH won (barely) but Austin needed to sun the guy, despite knowing he was always going to win at Wrestlemania. I love Austin and what he did for the industry, but I wouldn't call him a selfless wrestler either. My points is more with people on the IWC that will be all "oh so-and-so buries wrestlers all the time, they are so toxic for the business" will look the other way when someone like Austin, who meets a lot of the "protected by the IWC" criteria; Was held down, specifically by a smark target in Hogan and fired by another in Bischoff, a bit of a smark internet workrate darling in his Stunning days, and was featured heavily on ECW when Paulie had him cut worked shoot promos on what was eating him up inside while on the mend.
  5. Another "trying too hard to be a smark" trope I loathe is going out of your way to refer to a WWE wrestler as their indy name. Granted its easy to do on a podcast/radio in a "call a team that moved recently by their old city/location name by accident" way, but it is the height of snark pretentiousness to do it in a written format. All that being said, I find it amusing that "Steen vs El Generico" was dropped, though I'm sure more in the lines of "I can't believe an ROH classic feud is continuing in WWE with different names" than "I refuse to dignify Kevin Owens and Sami Zayne," yet refuse to dignify Brie Bella's legally married name by refering to it as Bryan Danielson's stage last name!
  6. I'm surprised in the "wrestlers in their gear when they aren't "expected" to do something" bit, you forgot that you are covering an era where Jerry Lawler would commentate IN HIS IN-RING ATTIRE despite commentary was all he'd do that night/taping!
  7. Re: Dubs calling Austin "selfish" in the ring. One of the great inconsistencies of the IWC/Smarks community is calling out one person for being a political power player, yet because another is such an internet darling, or a previous victim of political bull shit, or simply a spotlighted guy on ECW TV, that they'll look the other way, or give excuses. In Austin's case its stuff like "well, who would work a match with Billy Gunn/Jeff Jarrett when they're in a main event slot?" or "Austin was right to walk out, you can do Austin-Lesnar unannounced on Raw!"
  8. Another Cage request, Kiss of Death, or when David Caruso realized he was better off staying a TV cop!
  9. IIRC, the only Shaq film that can't quite fit the full on comedy genre is Blue Chips (which I'd say is just average enough not to make the Tirades cut). Which is more standard sports movie rather than comedy, like say Jerry Maguire or Albert Brooks' Scout movie..
  10. Wasn't Shazam meant to be a comedy? Par the course for the now basketball HOFer Shaq.
  11. I'm sure after this month it will be some time until the superhero genre comes up again, but Steel should be on the short list.
  12. Suddenly brings a whole new meaning to The Game, Triple H's Reign of Terror with the World Title (October 2002 (handed title)-June 2005 (loses Hell in A Cell match against Batista for the title)). And that includes a feud with Orton!
  13. Okay...now I feel like the chucklehead. Doing some Google-fu suggest there is only one "aftermath" scene of Kirk putting on his boots in the episode "Wink of An Eye" Why the question was used beyond continuing the idea of Kirk as a womanizer is beyond me, as it clearly implies that the scene was as cliched on the show as Red Shirts being the ones to be killed on away missions. When in actuality, the action only happens the one time on the show. D'OH!
  14. When does the trope of Kirk "lacing up his boots means he got lucky" start? I know you guys are literally a season and a half into it by now, but that was the answer in a trivia quiz about what was usually the "code" for Kirk getting some, and I wonder with the lack of wanted smooching that seems to have happened with Kirk's character, belying that particular "trait" of the character, if that scenario had ever been shown yet. I don't know where the people running the quiz got that particular "factoid" from, I'll do a quickie Google search after I hit reply, but I'd think that "count" could be added to the stats with Kirk kissing, if it supposedly is tied into Kirk having consensual relations, as opposed to being mind controlled or whatever its been so far with the smooching count, then it probably would be something to track.
  15. The worst cameos are those that make you go "WHO!?" when told who the person is due to the person fading into obscurity. My favorite comes from a late final season episode of The Sopranos. Tony and Carm are at the restaurant Vestuvios when the owner, Artie, stops by and tells Tony to check out a customer across the room who he calls "Mangenious" and you see someone sitting at a table, and Tony says "Oh, I should say hello" and that's the cameo. Here's the thing, "Mangenious" was Eric Mangini, who made a big splash in the world of the NFL by being a "future big time coach" as a member of the New England Patriots staff, and really took off as a New York Jet Head Coach in 2006, which led to being in the New Jersey based Sopranos for a cameo. Unfortunately he couldn't replicate his initial success and left the Jets in 2008 and had a disastrous run as coach for the Cleveland Browns, and hasn't been a head coach since 2010! He's been an assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers since 2013, and Defensive Coordinator since 2015, but a far cry from sustaining the nickname Artie Bucco called him in that decade old Soprano episode, which I wouldn't be surprised would garner a lot of "Huh? Who was that? Was that a real guy?" type of comments since.
  16. Listening to a Fantastic Four podcast go over the vintage issues 91-93 where The Thing is brought to a planet featuring mobsters, and Ben is forced into a gladiator fighting situation. That story ran during the summer of 1969, so it was speculated that Jack Kirby must have gotten the idea of the planet filled with mafia stereotypes from A Piece of The Action. I'll probably email this as well, but I wonder at what point did Trek start permeating various other realms of the culture in terms of influencing certain aspects, such as a planet filled with 1920s Chicagoland gangsters.
  17. What are the chances of HAA going back to the same well of a previously done actor/actress/director whom's body of work is that expansive? Eh, just curious after a second Nicolas Cage episode was joked about on a recent Earth-2.net episode.
  18. I don't know why, but I've been getting images of that local local news guy on How I Met Your Mother (played by Alex Denisoff, of Buffy/Angel fame) in my head every Previews episode. Probably because he literally would read out the Saturday (IIRC) morning newspaper (it was never stated if the paper and local cable news channel had the same ownership).
  19. Why not go with the one mentioned prior to the announcement, Kramer vs. Kramer Sophie's Choice Out of Africa Postcards from The Edge Bridges of Madison County
  20. *Listens to Hey An Actor Bill Murray episode* *Plans ways to annoy Ian in the coming year!*

  24. Having an odd feeling of both "be careful what you wish for" and "hey that is a little clairvoyant of you" by listening to you rip a potential Roman Reigns title win at WrestleMania.
