  1. I have yet to hear the radio version but I really want to as it has an amazing cast. I really like Patterson Joseph in this but nothing I've seen him in since convinces me he'd be a good Doctor. I like him as an actor I just don't think he's right for the part.
  2. Gaiman wanted it shot on film. He was very disappointed when it was shot on video. I think it came down to budgeting. Video was much cheaper to shoot on than film. It's a huge shame as it would have looked stunning on film. I'd happily see it remade for that reason.
  3. Finally won our first game of Pandemic and in style too. Used some moves we had spare to reunite everyone in Atlanta before playing the winning move.
  4. As a theory it doesn't make any sense. Why would any wrestling company say to themselves "Hey, why don't we deliberately book this guy to look bad just to annoy or paying customers"
  5. Red Country by Joe Abercombie. Great epic fantasy that uses the tropes of western cinema books read 1
  6. Just caught up with the Rumble and my what an odd show. I think at least part of the crowd turning on it wasn't just a lack of Bryan but the fact that once it was clear that Bryan wasn't in it everyone was just watching Batista get handed a title shot because that was the deal that has been done behind the scenes. Look how hot they got for the possibility of Roman Reigns winning just because it would be someone who is clearly due a push which he will get eventually. Batista winning means that we are going to get 2 months of build up to a match that no one cares about.
  7. Equilibrium because it's a decent Sci-fi action film that has Seans Pertwee and Bean in it. American Psycho because it's a film that hangs on Bale's central performance (Plus you'll never hear Hip to be Square in quite the same light again) and The Prestige because it's Bale working with Nolan outside of Batman and is an interesting film.
  8. I need this to be a full miniseries. Shame that IDW doesn't have the rights anymore, since they also have Dredd. Speaking of, Titan Comics now has the DW license. Wonder what this will do for distribution in the non-British market. I imagine that's one of the reasons they acquired it. Titan will want to branch out into the U.S. market and getting the Doctor Who license is ideal for that.
  9. Great episode as ever guys. I'm in the middle of a Farscape rewatch at the minute to the mention of the show was timely. I really really wish that The Power of Three was Amy and Rory's last story. It would have made so much sense. Everything was set up for Amy and Rory to decide that they wanted to settle down and live normal lives. It would have made the Doctor a sort of Puff the Magic Dragon figure being crestfallen that they had grown up and didn't need him anymore. Instead they fall back on the tired old New Who trope of the companions being ripped from the Doctor's in an episode that ended with a lot of histrionic old bollocks. Incidentally if you are looking for an antidote to Yu-Gi-Oh I strongly recommend Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series. My old flatmate was a little obsessed with the original show so I had to endure it on a regular basis. Discovering the Abridged Series was a breath of fresh air as it lovingly mocks it and is extremely funny.
  10. Yes. That was of course completely deliberate and in no way just a happy accident.
  11. They had no idea what the Dalek Eternal did. Mark Gatiss admitted he just made the name up without any idea about what it would actually do.
  12. I have yet to play Chrononauhts. I was a little daunted by the instructions but I'm hoping to give it a try soon. I probably wouldn't have bought the games That I own had I not seen them being played first on Tabletop and got a feel for them first.
  13. Could well be. There are some stories however where opinion never changes. I'm sure we can all agree that The Horns of Nimon is a load of old nonsense. What separates people is whether or not they find it enjoyable nonsense.
  14. I had a quick scan to see if a thread like this already existed so apologies if I missed it. I have gotten quite into table top games. Mainly Thanks to Will Wheaton's Tabletop show on YouTube. Thanks to that show I now own Elder Sign and multiple Fluxx decks and we were given Pandemic for Christmas which I've played before and is a lot of fun. So does anyone else here enjoy a spot of table top gaming and if so what do you play?
  15. I think Time of the Doctor is a grower. With time and distance I think it'll be thought of much higher. I'm always intrigued by initial fan reaction to episodes knowing that opinions often shift with time. Fans at the time hated The Deadly Assassin for instance where it's now regarded as a classic. I'm fascinated to find out how these episodes are going to be viewed in 10 years time.
  16. Thank you and well done Kellen. An epic undertaking pulled off with style.
  17. I liked it a lot. Smith was nothing short of brilliant as he always is. Even in weaker stories he elevates the material through his performance. I'm glad that they sorted the whole regeneration thing so people might stop banging on about it. I thought the whole issue of the Doctor's mortality was handled far better than in The End of Time (which wouldn't be difficult) Although I dare say that this is because Smith is a better actor than Tennant. Of course it isn't the greatest regeneration story ever made. That's The Caves of Androzani and always will be.
  18. I'd like to suggest Maverick as it shows a more comic side to Jodie Foster's acting. She rarely takes on comedy roles but when she does she's really funny.
  19. I love Trailer Park Boys. It's easily one of the most underrated comedies ever made. You have to be really smart to appear that dumb. I still maintain that the episode Conky is one of the funniest half hours of television.
  20. Oh yes, Street Hawk would be lots of fun. Love the theme tune.
  21. Woah there. I don't remember introducing democracy to this. If Ian and I have any disagreements then we settle like gentlemen... IN THE THUNDERDOME!
  22. I'd completely forgotten about Threshold. I vaguely remember it as being like the transitional show between The X-Files and Fringe. Kenny, I'll happily swear my tits off for hours on end regarding the Thunderbirds film but I think we should leave that to those fine Gentlemen over at Tranquil Tirades.
