  1. On the whole I enjoyed it. That’s "enjoyed" the ridiculous ride the conclusion of a series usually is and this is no exception.

But there are too many nit-picks about the story for me to really like it.

Missy was great. Every bit the Master as any previous incarnation. Devilishly fun and I now no longer care that he is now a she. It would have been nice to see her as the Rani though, been far too long since she made an appearance.

Why do we have to kill off the Master every time? I know she probably isn't dead and we will almost definitely see her again so why do we have to go through that whole rig morale time and again. It is getting really tiresome. I Would have much preferred she was just taken away by Unit and locked away having her break out the next time she appears in a story.

Why did the Doctor say to her you’ve found Gallifrey? Surly she was on Gallifrey when it was lost, so shouldn’t he be more concerned with how she got out?

Why is every cyberman story of late solved by the power of Love?

If Danny was able to overcome the inhibreter and protect Clara because of his love for her and his need to protect her. Then there would be more dead converted cybermen humans who are able to do the same. We only saw him and the brig who defied their Cyber state. I know they both have the Army connection but if that was the key factor, think of how many other dead soldiers throughout History who would be able to do the same.

It's also really odd that they have acknowledged the existence of an afterlife and sometimes you can come back from it with the aid of a one-time use only magic bracelet????? I know it was used just to round up the story beat of the child but they have really opened a can of worms there.

  2. They just upped the quality this week.

Thought it would have been a better reveal if we never saw the cybermen in the trailer last week. Love that the logo for 3W was the cybers eyes. Brilliant. Loved Michelle Gomez, kinda wished she was the Rani rather than the Master but maybe that will grow on me.

  3. I liked this one a lot.

Kind of liked that he didn't get to the bottom of everything. Managed to stop the imeadiate threat but didnt save everyone ad there is still a mystery out there to solve. Loved how mellow Frank Skinner was and for a moment actually thought he was going to travell with them as the Tardis engineer. Is it me or was his comment how that job could change a man was a sly reflection on the Doctor himself and the fame and attention that comes to the actor playing him?

  4. Its another odd episode. No plot at all to this one just a series of character moments. Some of which where great others very run of the mill Doctor who fluff.

So it really depends on if you didn't mind the time out so to speak, and enjoyed the interactons between Clara, Pink and the Doctor.

When I saw last weeks trailer of this episode I wasn't expecting much from the dodgy looking robot menace. So I got a little more out of this than I was expecting. Still this series feels a bit like a ship with out a rudder. No clear direction as yet. I guess we'll see what is really up when we find out more about missy.

  5. I think I over anticipated this episode because of its title. I expected one thing and it fell short in my estimations. Which isn't the episodes fault. It had its moments and the Teller was a cool looking monster but it overall felt like a story I wont be revisiting much. What was with the leaning tower of pisa joke and the end that didn't even go with the natural flow of the episode?

  6. I enjoyed it, it didn't do what I expected it to do and I think Moffat has proved that he is still able to write good stories, (which is why he volunteered for the cheap episode).

My only issue is I've got to go to work and be alone tonight in a hotel where everyone else is asleep. That's not going to creep me out in anyway shape or form... AND there's lots of sudden creepy noises from the vending machine and the freezer.

I hope they do try and call back to what that thing was under Danny's bed, because I don't think it was a child. In the glimpse we got of it it didn't appear to be a child. But at the same time wouldn't mind if they just leave these things to the imagination. All it means is at that time in the Doctor's life it wasn't this hiding thing under the bed it was just Clara.

And the idea of that being where the Doctor as a child hid to escape from what he was scared of and then the War Doctor going back there during the war I thought was beautiful and ties in that incarnation and the episode even better.

    My thoughts exactly

  7. Just had another look at that bed sheet scene.

When the sheet comes off and you get a split second blurred out of focus shot of what it is. It is the same height as a little boy but it definately has larger darker eye sockets and what looks like a bald head not unlike the silence. Not that I think it is a child silence.

  8. Well, I was on board this episode until the last ten minutes. Let's just say I'm not a fan of the twist. Like, at all. It was genuinely shaping up to be the most I've been scared in an episode since Blink, too, which is a shame.

So what was the thing in little danny's room, then?

As I said the episode is a little messy in places. Some of those things will never be addressed. Some like the who was under the bed sheet or who was outside Pinks time ship may be explained later on in this series. As they seemed to be seperate from the barn scene which looked to be more pesonal between Clara and the Doctor.

I liked this episode more for the questions it raised than the answers it gave. Hopefuly we will come back to some of them.

  9. So... the Doctor pretty much straight up murdered that guy, right?

Well he did say he was already dead. He was just saving the rest of them. What he gave him to swallow didn't make the Daleks antibodies kill him (they were going to do that anyway) it just helped them out.

Really liked this episode and Capaldi. A good build on what we started to see last episode.

Loved the line "she cares so I don't have to" Great way to show the differences in this Doctor. Half way through I got worried that it was a pointless waste of time trying to fix a Dalek that once fixed would obviously reboot back to its old ways of killing humans. Glad it turned into them trying to discover if a good Dalek could actually exist and that they kind of failed in there atempt. Resulting in the Doctor once again doubting his worth i the universe

  10. Forgot to mention the opening credit sequence.

Loved it but then I loved it when it was a fan made you tube clip. The theme will take some getting use to but I kind of like how it feels like its limping along. Like the cogs of the time machine are just about functioning. Very apt for a mad man with a box, who is always putting it back together again.

  11. It's the same but with the round things popping out and the time rotor is more orange-red than blue.

Ok the colour I would never have noticed. When he referenced the round things "I use to have more round things on the walls" I thought he ment the classic interrior. Will have to go back and look at Smiths version again. Thanks.

  12. Just finished this epic last episode (for now). Agree with everything you had to say about the 50th ep and it's mini episodes. The Christmas special on the other hand, I had a hard time with. The concept of it is good. It just didn't sit right with me how many villians were used for the sake of it. I mean what were the weeping Angels doing there at all? What was there reason for being there? Loved the quick snap of a regeneration though.

Having said that I still have only seen this episode once. So who knows what little details I missed.

I did at one point had a crazy thought while watching it. As smith's Doctor got older and started to look a little like Hartnell, for one brief moment I thought they were going top do a snake eating its own tail time travel thing. Having the Time Lords come back through the crack save Smith take him back to Galifrey. Only for him to run off with a Tardis like Hartnell did. Since it was his last regeneration Calpaldi ending up being a new Doctor in the vain of Bucky taking over as Captain America or Ben Reilly replacing Peter Parker. Not actually the Doctor, as his regenerations are used up but a new Doctor. As the universe must have one looking out for it.

Thanks to the both of you for all your great episodes. Looking forward to the Star Trek pod but counting the days until BOTI returns.
