dc20willsave
I recently came across a video ranking the 10 best opening shots of films of all time and I was wondering what opening shots really stand out for you all?

Dread
Touch of Evil has to be up there:I mean, start googling "Touch of Evil" and "Touch of Evil Opening" is the first thing that comes up. Beyond that, it's completely superb and complicated and brilliant.Edit: now looking at the video, I see that ToE is already the number 1. Deservedly so. Dread
Also a reminder that movie takes place in an alternate reality where there's an open border between the US and Mexico...the 1950s!

dc20willsave
I've always loved the opening of Blade Runner. It's beautiful and dystopic at the same time. That said, the opening of Sunset Boulevard, the pan up the street, the voice over from William Holden setting up the film until we get to the swimming pool and then that shot of Holden floating facedown in the pool with the police watching from above.
