Missy
Peter Pan Heirs Protest Wendy's Porn Comic Comic book writer Alan Moore has been getting plenty of attention from the mainstream press this year, what with the critical adulation for Watchmen and the release of the V for Vendetta movie. That's drummed up publicity—including a PW cover story—for Moore's latest project, Lost Girls: a "porno-graphic" novel in which Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz meets Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Wendy from Peter Pan, and (as near as I can make out from the descriptions) they tell each other X-rated versions of their stories while having hot sex with each other. Well, you can imagine how the people who own the Peter Pan rights in Britain and the European Union felt when they found out about that. The Times of London reports that Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children is saying permission must be sought to write about Wendy, and it doesn't sound like they're inclined to give it. Moore is unmoved: "I don't see that you can ban anything in this day and age," he tells the Times. [ from Media Bistro ]

Darque Edge
Annoyingly, this has been held back, due to the Great Ormond Hospital suing Alan Moore. Moore's primary defence is that their rights only covers stage adaptations (apparently), and besides - these stories are about fictional 'real people' who 'inspired' the characters. Should be one hell of an interesting court case. I'm debating pre-ordering this. The more I read about it, the more I'm getting really interested.
