JackFetch
KatzSmith Productions partners David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith have just signed a two-year first-look feature producing deal at Warner Bros. While rights are still being worked out, one of their first projects is expected to be a sequel to Beetlejuice, the 1988 Tim Burton-directed hit that starred Michael Keaton as a ghoul hired by a recently deceased couple to drive the new owners out of their house. Burton and Keaton made the movie while they were working on the studio’s first Batman film, which was released the following year. Beetlejuice also starred Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder and Geena Davis. The film will not be a remake; the intention is to reboot it by advancing the storyline of the original, which was done by The Geffen Company and Warner Bros. http://www.deadline.com/2011/09/katzsmith-duo-makes-first-look-warner-bros-deal-will-bring-beetlejuice-back-from-dead/#more-164431
MaxPower
I read that and all I can think of is how 'awesome' Son of the Mask was..... IF, however Keaton was on board, I would be slightly more optimistic.
slothian
Ugh, the first film was bad enough...

Molly
Tim Burton hasn't made a quality film since what, Big Fish? My hopes are not high.
Stavros
I liked Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd, but his overall track record has gotten weaker over time as he dips more often into remaking classics.
Molly
Admittedly, I'm interested to see how Johnny Depp will do as Beetlejuice.
SuaveStar
Admittedly, I'm interested to see how Johnny Depp will do as Beetlejuice. Take Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and make him a demonic corpse. There, I just saved you $12 and two hours of your life
slothian
Ugh, the first film was bad enough... It's overrated nonsense. And I *really* wanted to like it, but.....nothing. It stirred nothing in me, as my 20 year old self yawned and called it dated. Granted, that was 6 years ago, but I'm in no hurry to rewatch it.
