And I'm certainly puzzled by the fact that you both know of Absolutely Fabulous better than the aforementioned Blackadder - I might be speaking for myself alone here, but Ab Fab is a bit rubbish. There are worse British comedies, granted, but I'm not a fan.
AbFab is better known on this side of the Atlantic because Comedy Central aired the living SHIT out of it in the 90s, and it became quite popular, whereas Blackadder was generally relegated to PBS. That said I DESPISE AbFab. Hate it. I thing it's screamingly unfunny shit, and it took years for me to discover that Jennifer Saunders was actually capable of being moderately amusing. Blackadder, however, is genius.
I think Blackadder was indeed a great show. But I am glad it ended when it did. I felt series 4 was starting to get a bit formularic. Have they ever had Alan Partridge in the US. Or the great Chris Morris shows. The day today or Brass Eye?

I think it could have been a lot worse than what we got

Here's something that popped into my head after recording BOTI 89 with Mike last night:
Is Series 6 the first time in the new series that the Doctor hasn't kissed his companion? (I generally don't count River as a companion because she's not a regular.)
Series One: The Parting of the Ways
Series Two: New Earth
Series Three: Smith and Jones
Series Four: The Unicorn and the Wasp
Sereis Five: Flesh and Stone
Is Moffat taking us away from that? It almost never served much plot purpose and was basically just a way to have a kiss in the season trailer, so I'm clearly not heartbroken by this.
Had no problem with it when it was Rose. But with Marta RTD was just trying to do the same thing because it worked before. I think Martha was RTDs biggest mistake. She started off as a great character. then turn into a lovestruck teenage girl.

just thought I would mention that the main character in the new Alien prequel film Prometheus. Is an English archaeologist called Elizabeth Shaw. I wonder if she is named after Liz Shaw.

I always figured having a 10th Doctor clone in the universe was setting up something for the next regeneration, so they could have a "multiple Doctors" story again. As long as they don't bring Rose back I'll be ok with whatever they do (I love Tennant). And bringing back Donna would be awesome, she was always my favorite companion (after Sarah Jane, of course) but I just don't see how it could happen. The Master has to come back as well because... well he's the Master and he's awesome. Those are my thoughts.
If they do bring back the 10th doctor. I would like it to be the real 10th doctor, not the clone

there is one doctor who thing you guys forgot to mention. Tom's Prime computer adverts.

I have just rememberd that in the very first episode of doctor who. Susan is listening to a fictional pop star called John Smith. Could this be a future doctor?

very good episode.
Rather than DiT we nearly got "the dark dimension"

I think if this had have been made it would have been a mess. What do the rest of you think?

There is a nice little moment in Mawdryn Undead. I love the Brigs reaction where Tegan tells him her name is "Tegan Jovanka"

recently stared to rewatch the 50s-60 version of the show. Most of the epiosdes still hold up, and Ron Serling is still as cool as he ever was. The 80s version has some good episodes too, not seen the 2002 version, but heard it was not good. Anyone have any favourite episodes?

listening to the talk about ghostlight. I think it might be a nice idea for the guys to do a special episode where they discuss doctor who fandom. Mabye after they catch up with the latest new series episodes in a year or so, or mabye just as a one off episode. All the different types of fans. good and bad. From the people who think the show died when tom Baker left, the Cartmel/new adventures fans, people who just like the clasic series, and the ones who just like the new series. what are fans effect on the show? It might be a interesting show.

A bad idea. Lots of people who have never given Doctor Who a chance, or never even heard of it. Will see that, and decide to cheak it out. Then they will watch Fear Her. The people who are asking for David to do this, need to think about that.

It left out condeming someone to a life as a paving slab, and acting like he is doing them a favour.
-
I think the actress who played Morgaine used to be Jon Pertwees wife as well
-
Sorry but I always found Ghostlight was very pretentious. Logic goes out the window so they can tell the story.
For example, If the police man went missing 2 years ago. Then I think the police would send more to see what happend to him?
-
there will be a tv series of this soon
-
I just think we need a break from her, like we had a break from the daleks
-
I hope there is no more river song
-
Whatever happend with this?
-
I think this was the best cartoon ever. A very complex story, it never talked down to the audience. Anyone remember it?

I fine Tennant to Smith way to over the top and (dare i say it) mawkish and over sentimental.
