Okay, I'm officially starting the Dubs fan club.

The older films were more successful because AVP was garbage. I hated that movie. They also came out in an era when a thirteen-year-old kid could buy a ticket to an R-rated movie without any difficulty. Theater owners here came under a lot of fire for that a few years back.

I think that as Hollywood moves away from ticket sales being the driving force behind a movie's profitability, and towards DVD sales, then R rated movies will make more and more of a comeback. I can (from a business standpoint) understand why studios weere moving towards PG-13, now that theater owners are being made to adhere more closely to the ratings system, but when DVD sales make that a non-issue, these movies will be able to stay true to their R-rated origins.

Oh noes! The store is selling off its stock of Big Mo's at $0.22 a bar.

I think modern Cap has the potential to be a better movie, but 40s Cap would be a lot of fun.

I almost think they'd HAVE to do this. The fact that Cap hasn't been written as jingoistic and uber-patriotic since the '50s won't register with the rest of the world. Hell, he'll have to climb that hill with a lot of American non-comics readers. So, from a purely realistic storytelling standpoint, they'd have to address it somehow, whether he's the Captain or Captain Rogers or whatever.

Oh, he's made some movies that were fun enough. I liked The Italian Job, though The Negotiator is probably his best. Friday really doesn't do anything for me, though.

Okay, this was just the first part of an awesome day for me as a whole. I don't know how it'll stand up to repeated viewings, but this movie freaking rocked. So much fun. Conversations at lunch afterwards: "He has a baby... on his chest." "You mean, like, the symbol on his shirt, or..." "No. A baby." "An actual baby?" "Yeah." "On his chest?" "Yeah." Pause. "I don't understand." "Okay. There's this baby..." "I get that." "... and it's strapped to his chest." "As a shield?" Then, we begin the caravan to the New England Comics, where not only is it Free Comic Book Day, but they're having their annual 50% off sale. I got a month's worth of reading material for $16, and in addition to the sanctioned freebies (Got my Owly on), he was giving away backstock of books be couldn't sell... such as Cable #1. Best Day Ever.
