  1. Does anyone else think that this is a bigger guest than Stan Lee??

    Infinitely bigger.

Alan Moore doesn't even like his own stuff let alone things on network tlevision. The most fickle human alive is a pot-smoking warlock from Northern England and he's going to guest on Simpsons because he's a big fan.

In fact, Stan Lee is a bit of a shill and doesn't take much prodding to put himself on TV. I would compare this to the snaring of reclusive postmodern novelist Thomas Pynchon a few seasons ago.

  2. From Newsarama

It’s only natural really, though it may sound odd-ish. Alan Moore is going to guest star on an episode of The Simpsons.

According to Nothants News.com, the ball began rolling last summer when Melinda Gebbie, Moore’s collaborator on Lost Girls and fiancée was in the US for Comic-Con and to promote Lost Girls. As the paper reports, Moore is a long-time fan of The Simpsons, and was thrilled with the idea when it was pitched to him after a producer from the series approached Gebbie.

"I was happy to do it. I'm a big fan of The Simpsons." Moore told the paper. And – for those keeping track of Moore’s affection for US-produced animation, the writer has revealed to Newsarama and other outlets that he’s also a huge fan of South Park.

As for Moore’s storyline, he will voice a character in a subplot which sees a new “cool” comic shop opening in Springfield, in competition with Android’s Dungeon (operated by wince-inducing Comic Book Guy). No air date for the episode, entitled "Husbands and Knives" has been announced.

Alan Moore makes me all happy in my head. :w00t:

  3. Right on. Not including Vertigo and Wildstorm, the DC I'm reading is JLofA, Teen Titans, Morrison's Batman (done this month), the All-Star books and 52. And I consider myself more of a DC fan. At least I did.

I'll be dropping JLofA after the first arc if it continues the way it's going and I'm only buying Batman because it's Morrison and because it's the sequel to my favourite Batman story of all time. ASB&RtBW is dropped as of now (one issue a year is reserved only for Planetary and Ultimates 2).

I fully believe that All Star Superman is the best superhero comic being published today, and maybe ever.

  4. <applause>

Well done, sir. I both love and hate this series. Love it because of the great ideas and the well-needed shot in the arm it would give Marvel.

I hate it because I actually get excited about some of the stuff you're talking about...The Ellis Secret War thing? Perfect! Ostrander on Omega Flight? Gold! Suicide Squad remains my favourite series of all-time and I consider it the first modern comic series. Of course, a nice long run by Ostrander on OF would allow me the time to establish myself in the industry and take over for him when he leaves;)

What If? I'd love to see it back but I'm not sure if I'd like to see 6 issue runs, especially by Ennis who seems to decompress everything so much these days you can barely get through a character tying their shoelaces before the issue is over. I like the tight stories of the older What If?'s (IE: What if Vision destroyed the Avengers?, and What if the Second Richards child had lived? or whatever it was called.)

I anxiously await the DC version. Seeing as you're a little biased towards Marvel (something I've picked up, I might be wrong) I'm expecting even better shake-ups.

  5. When I was a kid, we took a jaunt across the border to stay at our neighbour's summer home and went to Fred Meyer to get one treat each. I picked the Nintendo cereal (with two separate bags of cereal: Zelda and Mario!!!).

I opened both bags and mixed them together for what had to be the unhealthiest breakfast ever.

  6. Stapling her hand was just so... random. Had he previously been portrayed as a brat or shown to constantly be hitting her (as siblings do), I maybe could have bought the scene. But, yeah. Random.

And yet this is the first time we see him or even know of him being mentioned? Agreed.

    Like Jessica.

Love Hiro. Great to see him do some more saving.

    Mika? Wow...cool stuff.

  7. I hadn;t even heard of this book untill now (not much of a horror fan) but it sounds like a good read. I'll be keeping a lookout for it now. By the way Will Smith says he wants to move away from the 'Fresh Prince" persona so it might only suck half as bad!

The ONLY way it'll work is if Smith loses a lot of weight and the play up the fact that is is a bit of an awkward looking fella. Gangly and all. He'd be channeling Vincent Price in that respect.

Thanks for the comment Holacik! Don't be a stranger. And DO pick up that book!!! Try to get the edition with the short stories in the back matter. Excellent stuff.

Incidentally, the screenplay I mentioned has been removed (no surprise there) but scrolling down to the last third of this page has the first few pages posted

  8. You're going to drive?! I just checked MapQuest; that's a 36-plus hour drive!

    I really want to go.

I'm kidding. My parents live south of Toronto. I'm teaching summer school up until the first week of August and then we'll fly out there. I'll drive from Toronto. It's only 10 or 11 hours that way.

If I were driving from Vancouver I'd go to San Diego.

  9. I would have voted Fable if it was there but I haven't played the sequel. Halo is undeniably one of the biggest video games ever. It ushered in the modrn age where they are making more money than feature films.

  10. Best one yet!

Casey on Iron Man is so obviously the only choice.

I've always pictured Hulk as a horror book. Peter David and Sam Kieth's Mr. Hyde issue is one of the best horror comics ever published.

I'd cut off a pinky to read Morrison on FF.

The MCP thing is where you hit the nail on the head. The sales would be relatively consistent with the top-tier guys and the youngsters would be given the shot that the big two rarely gives new creators.

    <tips hat>

    Well done sir!

  11. Curtis even returned for Halloween: H20 and Halloween Resurrection, but they're both stinkers if you ask me.

Can't speak of Resurrection, but H20 was enjoyable.

I like to pretend that the Myers story ended at Halloween II but if I had to pick any others from the series to be included then H20 would be it. Everything else is nothing but tripe dressed up in movie form.

Resurrection had Busta Rhymes in a prominent role for God's sake!
