  1. If I remember rightly, the Talia/Ra's episode of BB shows Bruce's scrapbook of past flings, which includes Babs. Personally, I don't mind bruce persuing a relationship with her in that Grayson's removed himself from both of them and Barbara's clearly always had an attraction to Bruce*, whether it's solely as his Batman persona or Bruce himself. So I can see it happening, although not for a sustained period of time. In that it was eluded to in BB, I think this movie serves to partially fill in the gaps as it came about a few years later. *Batgirl Returns, methinks.
  2. The Tobey Maguire hating upsets me.

    Is it wrong...?

I dunno, was it featured on Project Walkway?
  5. I believe that's how it's always been in the comics, Kellen. But we can always ask Mike, just to be certain.....

    Recording software

I've been spoiled from my student radio days with Adobe Audition. I had it installed onto my laptop and used that up until this summer when Lappy finally kicked the bucket. I downloaded Audacity, but I just don't enjoy using it. So I'm using the Audition trial at the moment and when I get paid, I'm going to shell out £250 for my own version. It's a lot but if it means I need never use anything else ever again, I'll be happy.
  7. You're not alone. I know a lot of people who will admit it stinks, but like it nonetheless. Ian James Wilson, at your service! Selina: Straight up, I *like* Batman 89 a lot more than Spidey III, but I think the latter pays slightly more attention to what it's doing than the former. Don't get me wrong, Spidey III is a flawed film and a hugely disappointing comedown after Spidey II, but Sam Raimi put his soul into trying to connect the producers demands into some semblance of a believable plot. He didn't quite suceed, but he did his best by marrying up Peter's douchebaggery to the symbiote influence, whilst Batman 89 is - as Mike said - as holey as Swiss cheese. Still, there's only half a point in it, so it's not the end of the world. I hope! Oh and the Emo-Dance was fucking hilarious if we're talking about the one outside the clothes store. The one with Gwen Stacey I was less crazy about.
  8. Preach it! And I too was stunned by Mike going FUCK THIS MOVIE over the time issues, of all things. Granted, he did physically hurt himself at one of the film's biggest flaws, but "WHEN WOULD HE HAVE HAD THE TIME TO DO THIS SHIT?!?!? ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIMS SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" wasn't quite what I was expecting!
  9. If you ever come by Derby, I can buy you a beer. Same goes for anyone who's UK-bound! My current "To Do" list - The usual Monday blog update - Sort out/Run/RP for oWa Adrenaline - Write a new CR: Behind the Mask on Ron Perlman - Record CR reviews of the Hellboy films, The Mask and the Superman franchise in the next month - Compile another WFP tribute package - Replace the railcard I lost in London over the weekend - Write up the last 8 museums I've been to in my journal - Ring up my bank and yell at them for not refunding me the £80 they were putting through two Fridays ago - Badminton/Rowing - Prepare for my 3 day weekend in Lancashire and which museums I'm hitting up - Confirm rough recording dates with Adham, Mike & James for FYEO and the Dark Knight Discussions respectively That's an ample sufficiency, I feel.
  10. Gotta say, I was steeling myself for quite a bit of criticism over this episode, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Also, it may seem like a long show (and it is - I'm surprised Mike turned it around so quickly), but there's almost an hour cut out of this show!
  11. No problem - thanks for the email!
  12. Count yourself lucky. Mike only hates the film because it turns him into Headbanger Mosh......
  13. - Pronunciation is Adham's job - Says you, pillock! - No it isn't - Many thanks!
  14. Guys, guys - George Clooney is Batman. George Clooney is a Democrat. THEREFORE Batman is a Democrat. *flees to the hills*
  15. That theme you used after the DCBS plug sounds awfully familliar, Mike. Has it been on The Show before??

    The Music Thread

As a sidenote, does anyone use Last FM? I don't mind giving out my username if anyone wants to stalk me via my music listen-age.
  17. This relates to a debate that starts about 1:55:00 into the episode. The amount of times Bond sleeps with Aki needs to be determined to come up with a final shag count. The problem is as such: There is a definite, implied rendez-vous between Bond & Aki post massage, so there is, at the very least, 1 notch on the count between them. Before , there is definite intimacy although the direction and the costumes remaining on makes the idea more ambiguous as to whether they added a second notch. And those two times are two weeks apart. The night after the first Aki notch, Bond slept with Brandt and following that Spock-Bond and Aki are shown to sleep together in the 13 day period that we've established Bond training to be a ninja. Now, including this could be INCREDIBLY murky for two reasons: - We're assuming an average of once a night, and whilst I'm sure Bond would want to make the most of his situation, there could be nights where he's too exhausted from training, or there could be nights where he's particularly in the mood. So doing this relies heavily on plain assumption. - Including any considerable period of off-screen companionship means we have to assume the count in many further films. I don't want to start a dodgy precedent for....something as morally upstanding as the Shag Count! So Bond & Aki have theoretically slept together anywhere between 1-15 times (possibly more times, although twice in one night may have interfered with his ninja training or something). Let me know your thoughts, either through the way we've presented the argument on the podcast, or her, or if you've seen the film for yourself. E-mails on this dilemma also gratefully accepted at: foryourearsonly@earth-2.net The poll closes October 3rd so that Adham & I can include the final score in our next recording session.
  18. I got an iPod Classic two months ago and barely a day's gone by without me using it - I LOVE it! It's especially great for podcasts and keeping up with E2's output. As for iTunes, it's a good tool for, again, finding podcasts and if I were going to buy music electronically, I'd most likely do it through that (although I prefer CDs just because I know I have a physical copy of the music that way). I think Windows Media Player is technically better as a player though, if I wanted to listen to individual albums, genres etc. But iTunes will do if I just want my music on shuffle.

    Episode 54

This is probably my favourite interview yet. Flowed really well and was surprisingly long, despite not feeling lengthy at all. Great stuff!
  20. hahahahahahahaha cool I know this is far off but I can't wait until you guys get to GoldenEye That's scheduled for September next year. I kinda wish it was sooner because Brosnan was the Bond I grew up with and Goldeneye is my favourite of his films.
  21. The general trend of Bond girls is that they're attractive, but often quite annoying. That's not say Bond isn't a cad and probably deserves a bit of backtalk from his women, but Bond's onscreen for the majority of the film and as such, the audience is usually on his side throughout. Honey Ryder, in the film, isn't wholly neccessary for furthering the plot along, but that trend improves as the series went along. I graded the film highly because it made Bond look like a proper spy before the series got silly, but the Craig films do that as well in a wholly different way and I'm looking forward to when we get round to them (2010!!) Thanks for giving us a listen!

    X-Men Evolution

Evolution was on the same channel that showed JL/JLU, and I really dug it. It made me a fan of Nightcrawler and Kitty Pride, mainly because they were the principle characters of the show. And even if the 90s show was better, Evolution had some GREAT storytelling at times.
