  1. as if that's the worst thing in the world to do lol Pulling your leg, my friend! Just a reference to our differing POVs!
  2. Just got back from watching it, and I'm pained to do this, but I agree quite a bit with Malpractice. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would though, but having read that article about Norton and the film, I have a feeling that those 50 minutes could have really helped this film out as the movie felt a tad shallow. Also, fuck Zak Penn. Expect a Hulk CR segment within the next fortnight for better insight than the above line.

    NERD WAR!

Although he's not unknown to use shit in his reviews...... But yeah, That Guy all the way.
  4. If we're talking about villains in the sequel (a film that's going to be rather Two Face-centric, if it even happens at all), you need to consider who's a) not going to distract too much attention away from Dent vs Bats; and b) who's actually going to work in a Nolan-esque universe. Black Mask: Cool villain and mob boss, although a 2nd disfigured guy wouldn't work in the same film. For Batman 4, let's say. Bane: COULD be done well - I just worry that more obscure villains might not get a look in now that Joker/Two Face are established Killer Croc: See above. Freeze: Probably a bit hard to do realistically, and there's the obvious taint of Batman & Robin. Penguin: Nolan himself has said that he can't see Penguin being used in a Batman film he'd direct. Batman 4 then. Clayface: That ain't gonna happen until Batman goes a bit more Spider-Man-esque. Catwoman: more likely than any other. Selina Kyle being the love interest in the next film works, I suppose. And if we're talking about classic villains, Poison Ivy would be hard to pull off as well. I was reading Empire magazine earlier in the week and whilst they had some terrible ideas for future casting (Ellen Page as Robin, Casy Affleck as the Riddler), they floated the idea of Jennifer Connelly as Talia al Ghul, which I thought was a very interesting idea (not to mention a good bit of casting to boot). Whilst the Riddler is probably the favourite as the next supporting villain - more for the ease with which you can do him rather than for spectacular action sequences - that'd be worth seeing.
  5. If I could cut out all of my co-host's stammers, the show might be better, but, through the editing process, I'd be a broken, wretched man.... But yes, he comes up with some great lines!
  6. To fully set the scene, Adham and I sat down to watch the film at 11pm, then started watching the commentary version at 1:30 am. I'd had roughly 6 cans of lager whilst he'd had 2 cans of cider. And then tired/wired respectively, we started recording at 4:30 am, finishing at 7 am. When I sat down to edit this, I was VERY worried about the quality, but I think it came off alright in the end.

    IAN!

Many thanks! My family don't really get each other much in terms of presents, but I'm expecting the Talking Heads DVD and a Best of The Divine Comedy album in my house when I get back from work. Then my Dad's taking me out for a meal, as my Mum & sister decided to have a holiday in Corfu around now, and my brother's at uni. I'll probably spend the night with a couple of beers, listening to a certain podcast that's going up later today!! .....one I spent 4 hours editing & putting together LAST night!!!
  8. If this is true, Marvel Studios would really be shooting themselves in the foot. I have a feeling that Downey would have some strong opinions on this though, given how closely he & Favreau worked together in pre-production, and the producers/studio are going to be less keen to dispense with him.
  9. Seriously. To outsiders, it may look like a silly film, but the original is dark and thought-provoking, not to mention satirical and surprisngly violent. A remake with a familliar Hollywood face will make me scowl horribly.
  10. The problem is that Stan Lee's appearance takes the viewer out of a film for the seconds that he's on there. Now, if it's done MINIMALLY, it's alright (say, him being saved from being run over in Daredevil) but drawing attention to it is just rubbish. I have no problem with Stan being in any of these films. Its totally expected by everyone who knows who he is, if he wasn't doing a cameo it would seem wrong. Its one of those little things that connects all the major Marvel movies. Except X2, which continues to make it superior in my view. That film certainly didn't suffer from an old man mugging at the camera. And before this comes across as an attack, I do genuinely like/not mind more cameos than I dislike and I appreciate what a huge figure Stan Lee is to Marvel. Even so, some of his appearances really take me out of a film - the worst offenders, off the top of my head, being Spider-Man 3 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Granted, those films had problems of their own, but these particular cameos really didn't do anything to better the film. On topic-ish: I did like the cameo in the previous Hulk film with Lou Ferrigno.
  11. Good catch - I didn't really hear what he said, but that's a nice throwback to Ryder's backstory and why she's killed in the past. Of course, the next time we see Ryder, she's tied up (unless I've been watching a cut version - we used Adham's VHS rather than the DVD I bought after the recording) in a random room with water flowing in. That didn't make much sense before I read the above. Yes, yes, he killed the bloody spider first!!! As you heard, that was probably my favourite kill of the entire film! But I'm limiting the kill count to humans to put an end to future pedantry. Mike, is the above something you've remebered or have you watched the film recently?
  12. Not QUITE a video, but something that OWNED over at The Oratory. I know Mike likes it:

  14. I don't listen to many panels that get posted in the summer, but this was one I wanted to listen to because the Mephisto/Spider-Man thing irked me - me who doesn't READ comics. I listened to a couple of Amazing Spidercasts around this time when they were being pimped, and I agreed at the time that the decision was punching-reality bad. So it's interesting to hear the creative team justify it. I can't state whether I agree or not because, as I say, I don't read the books, but you have to believe that the panel would've been preparing themselves for a LOT of questions, which is why I was curious to listen in. Mike was clearly getting into it in the last 10 minutes!
  15. Oh, they did NOT just lift that from Blackadder. The fuckers.... :grumble: Anything that happened after the original film is bullshit. That includes Shrek 4D at Universal Studios, Lithgow or no Lithgow.
  16. Loud and clear! That was one of the aims of doing the podcast in the first place, so the challenge is on more for 'From Russia With Love' on the grounds that 'Dr No' had the novelty of being the first official film and the appearence of Honey Ryder. Of course, 'FRWL' introduces Q and SPECTRE, but they're not quite regarded in the same light for reason, so the onus is on us to really sell this film to people. Adham couldn't make it last weekend so we're recording this weekend instead. I may kill myself in the editing process to get it to Mike before it's due up, of course, but hopefully that one major kink should be ironed out.
  17. I love the Reeve! I just haven't reviewed any Supes films that he's been in for the site yet! That day will come, though. As for the Reddick, Sin City was something I was holding off on until the sequel came out. But as that seems a bit far away at the moment, I'll probably review it alongside The Spirit at the end of the year/beginning of next year. As for the other two, I have a project in the works regarding such films but I will remain moot on it for now. Just in case there are any more enquiries regarding where certain other films are, this year, I can PROMISE that the chart will have Hellboys I & II, Hulks Old & New, Wanted, certainly two Punisher films (possibly the original if I can get my mitts on it - I know how much everyone enjoyed the similar Fantastic Four ep last year!), The Spirit and, as I say, probably Sin City too. And as for The Dark Knight, that will be marked in style!!!!!!!!
  18. So....he quite liked it, then!
  19. Pfft, you're offended by the word yoghurt...... As a British man, and I hope Stavros will back me up here, it's quite funny to watch a reality show based on an untalented model get MTV fined. Perhaps if they'd just stuck to music instead of turning out turgid, youth-orientated shit, they'd still have some of that money (if they don't play Aphex Twin before 9pm, that is). Anyone who makes a show that starts with the word "Totally" deserves to lose whatever they own in a fire. Quelle suprise!!!
  20. I'd like to think that Chrstian Bale wouldn't take on a film he knew was going to be shitty *nowadays*.

    Episode 40

You can see why I find this confusing...
  22. Even though we shan't see eye to eye on the superior form of football, have a good 'un!

    Episode 40

Pffft, that's the last time I satisfy one of your whims, Reddick!!! You hurtful Canuck, I spent literally 3 minutes on making that!!! Meh, good show, I *guess*...... I did really like that piece of music 40 minutes in.
  24. Sorry to hear about that Dubs.
