This company could not find their ass with both hands and a flashlight.
Stop trying to "be like Marvel" and just focus on making good films.

You guys: Jek Porkins from A New Hope is Lt. Eckhart in Batman 89.
His death in Star Wars feels that much less tragic, if ya know what I mean.

We took Ben on Monday. It was a pretty solid kids' flick. But hardly what you'd expect from Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Hannibal Burress and (my Jewish girlfriend) Jenny Slate.
-
You give me any issue with Ben and Bruce punching each other, and I love it.

I caught the pilot as it is free on AMC's YouTube channel currently. It's certainly not the comic, that's for damn sure. The whole time Jesse made his big speech at the end, I was literally thinking how comic Jesse would call this guy an asshole and walk out.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy said pilot, the woman playing Tulip is fantastic, even though I'm not sure of the direction they're taking her. Cassidy's personality and violence were spot on, but his voice and look are gonna take some getting used to. Especially his Lucky Charms Leprechaun voice, much too high and smooth for a guy based on Shane MacGowan. And as Mike pointed out on Twitter, you can see his eyes... Fuck That.
I think, overall, they nailed Jesse. There were some moments (him talking to the kid at the beginning, meeting with the kid's mother, the bar fight at the end), where I could see the character clearly. Other stuff, like he meets Arseface, seemed a little muddy.
All things considered, I liked, didn't love, this. I'll stick around for a while.

I see it.

Coldhands is in the books, yes.

Well, considering that every human on the show is garbage, you're probably right.
-
Let's not forget Bill Hader. Who has got to be the busiest man in Hollywood, but never phones it in.
-
Fuck.
Busiek is saying he's gone.

Holy shit. I have a lot to unpack, but this might be the best Marvel movie yet.
-
Maisie Williams has been publicly angling for Wolfsbane, which would be awesome.

Seriously upset at the lack of muffins over here. I have since come home, eaten dinner and had three chocolate chip cookies, but I can't. Stop. Thinking. About. Those. Muffins.
Thanks to Mike, I read that in Frank Costanza's voice.
...It was wonderful.

In another piece of perfect casting, Peter goddamn Stormare is playing Czernabog. Via Gaiman's twitter.
Cloris Leachman is playing one of the Zorya, as well. Which puts me in mind of Fraü Blücher. She's a wonderful actress, but she's been playing an old lady for forty years! That's incredible.

Title not withstanding, if they do Green Goblin again, they're cracked. I don't know who else you'd have Keaton play though.
-
Too young. I always had a soft spot for him.

Portman was kinda terrible from day one. Hopefully this means we can get rid of the ridiculously attractive, but equally irritating Kat Dennings as well.
-
This one was rough. Let's just put the Rogues back on Flash and maybe Atom and Stein and forget this ever happened.
Also, how hard did they work to make Jewel Saite not hot?

I had a huge fucking bunch of problems with this film, but I don't even think it's as bad as it's been savaged. It's Fantastic Four all over again. Yeah, it's bad, but critics and nerds love to dogpile on these movies when they're disappointing.

I was less a fan of him immediately getting a new hand, but Snart losing it was one of the coolest character moments he's had. As well as Roury threatening to murder Lisa over and over.
-
So, this week's episode was actually really good.
The return of Roury was a legitimate shock, and Snart shattering his own hand made me audibly gasp.

I really love the first three volumes of Snyder and Capullo, but haven't had a chance to delve deeper.

And John Landis. And Joe Dante. It's a cavalcade of horror icons.
