  1. My youngest son, the won born when I wrote for this site, is nine today. I feel old, so all of you should too.

Having just realized the typo in this post, I'ma  little embarrassed to quote it, but it needs to be said that this little bugger is ten years old today.

Ben. Baby fuckin' Ben is coming up on four.

  2. Hannah and I read many of the same things. (I miss Denny O'Neil comics something fierce. Maybe it's time to revisit The Question?)

Deathstroke 11: I appreciate what the team attempted here, but I think they reached for a little too much within the space of a 20 page superhero comic. Then again, bless 'em for even trying. Difficult to go wrong on a Priest script, drawn by Cowan and inked by Sienkiewicz.

It's always time to read Denny/Denys Question.

    Always.

  3. The Missus and I (after months of bickering) have landed on a name for Baby Girl Nelson:  Quinn Alice.

Meaning both my kids have successfully been named for comic characters I love.

EDIT: Here's the name plate that will hang in her room.

  4. On 12/7/2016 at 3:49 PM, You Know Who said:

Along with Sean Bean, there are other actors in less high-profile roles who might qualify:

-Michael York (though he's not had a major film role in a while)

    -Alan Cumming (no, seriously)

    -Michael Gambon

    -John Hurt

    -Toni Collette

    -Naomi Campbell

Plus, you've done the Holy Trinity of Dames, but there's still Diana Rigg, Julie Andrews, and Angela Lansbury.

    Second  for John Hurt.

  5. And that said, the new beats this movie is hitting (an actually young Peter, High School, the Stark/Parker relationship, Peter having a friend that isn't Harry Osborne) are awesome.

...But I'm seeing a lot of familiar stuff. The boat scene is egregious. The quipping feels very Andrew Garfield (that may be more a compliment to ASM than a dig here).

  6. For the first time since the show started, I'm properly caught up. I have one thing to say.

    Fuck H.R.

More than anything the show has mishandled, the Wells character is garbage here. Unless he turns out to be Savitar (of course he will), it's a waste. Bring back Harry. There is zero reason not to.

And I'm pretty sure the Killer Frost resolution was intentionally weak. There's no way that arc is done.

  7. I liked it quite a bit. Waller was spot on perfect, as was Boomer. Harley was solid, and while I appreciate the female form as much as the next guy, could we get Margot Robbie some pants? It's fun for about a scene and then goes to pandering to kinda squicky.

I don't know if I buy into "Loving Father Deadshot", but the character was appropriately badass.

That said, Jared Leto's Joker is hot fucking garbage. Barring the bullshit look, the character makes zero sense, his objectives are constantly shifting and the performance isn't funny or creepy or scary, it's just... Odd. And not in the Grant Morrison sense.

    Solid film, though.
