Casanova sounds awesome, I'm going to have to grab the trade.

Fell is brilliant. I've heard rumors that Ellis and Templesmith are working on new issues and I hope they're true.

The Goon is my favorite comic on the stands. The humor is my kind of humor and Powell's art is gorgeous every month. It isn't always gag after gag and recent issues have gotten more serious in tone. There's also a clear storyline that begins to take form as the Dark Horse run goes on. If you don't dig it, that's cool, it's certainly an acquired taste. .

The secret six haven't faced Nazi's yet. They haven't faced them yet. You just know she'll get to them at some point.

Captain Nazi was in Villains United so technically they have fought a Nazi before. Catman blinded him. Then he got killed by Red Hood.

I want thinking that they'd definitely fought a nazi at some point.

Wait, let me think, he was in the rampage at the end wasn't he? Also, I thought the animal got killed in Batman: Under the hood. I need to buy those trades back.

Captain Nazi came back since apparently he's the living avatar of National Socialism.

Aren't comic book great where you can have a character with the name "Captain Nazi" with absolutely no irony whatsoever?

It is awesome.

Nazi's are great if they bear a direct relevance to the characters they face, like Hellboy or Captain America. Beyond that I don't see them as very useful.

Well, what about when they face the JSA.

Or if you have people who are trying to be Nazi fascists with the beliefs, like the characters in American History X?

They are directly relevant to the old JSA because they are from that era. Outside of those direct connections its cheap.

American History X guys Aren't nazi's they're racists of a different ilk. Not a member of the National Socialist party prior to 1945? Then you are not a nazi.

Well, it's been a few years (Around 7 atleast) since I saw AHX, and one of the scenes that I remember is when they psycho's have a party and have a big poster with Hitler on it and kids saluting it. That and Norton having the swastika on his chest.

Nazis are a way of getting cheap heat in a comic, I'll give you that.

Also: I knew the JSA were going to face Nazis soon, as they do in issue 37 under Bill Willingham.

Yes they use a lot of nazi symbols and tattoos, but its more a way of self-expression and getting a reaction. The nazi's were a dominant political party in Germany during 30's and 40's, membership in that group makes you a valid nazi. Tattooing an iron eagle on your forehead just means you're an anti-social racist fucker. Guys like that are more likely to be Klan members than anything because that's a genuine organisation with living representatives.

I can't believe Des had an issue with the close-ups. Man, he would go nuts if he kept reading. Especially issue 13, where almost every frame is a close-up.

Anyway, I've always heard USM praised for Bagley's use of close-ups. Because of Bendis' overly talky style, Bagley used a lot of close-ups to spice up scenes that may have been a lil dialogue heavy. To hear someone point it out as a negative gave me the same reaction as if someone told me they thought The Godfather was bad. Not because it's that shocking, but more because I've never heard anyone say it's bad (Both the Godfather and Bagley's close-up style).
