slothian
This is what I posted on Twitter earlier today when watching Voice from the Past: You have 2 hours to send your emails to shakeandblake@earth-2.net!! After that, we start recording Episode 12 and I get very cross.
slothian
Episode 13 goes live on Monday, after a myriad of wacky production problems Dave & I have had this week. On the upside, I've contributed a song for this episode and Dave listened to it for the first time a few hours ago. His text: Just listened to your song. You sir are a fucking genius! So listen out for that! The actual Blake's 7 content was quite good too, I think.
NDCDN
Will definitely download this. Just got season 1, and although I thought I had seen all the episodes the debut episode was new to me. Thought it was excellent that they did not try to introduce the seven straight away. So far it is Blake's 3 and even thrn they do not like each other. Will download your show before proceding any further.
slothian
Episode 17 won't be going up on Monday - Dave is having computer issues, so it has yet to be recorded. In the intermediary period, if you have any emails to send in to the podcast, now's the time to do so! shakeandblake@earth-2.net
slothian
Episode 18 records tomorrow - if anyone has ANY feedback at all (it doesn't have to be Blake's 7 related), please mail shakeandblake@earth-2.net Thank you!
slothian
Turns out that on the same day Episode 18 went up, Linkara did a review of a Blake's 7 comic, with an overview of the show to start with. There is a *slight* spoiler about the beginning of Series 4 about the change of personnel (which I was aware of, despite not getting there in the podcast run-throughs yet), but otherwise it's a nice look at the show. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/linkara/at4w/35575-at4w-blakes-7-
slothian
From the 'Random movie and tv thoughts' thread: A Blake's 7 Reboot is being shopped around. I find this to be MAJORLY exciting!
dc20willsave
The remake is heading to SyFy to be directed by Martin Campbell.
Mr Mockery
Wow, this is really happening! When I first proposed this podcast to Mike I would never have thought that by the end of it there would be brand new Blake's 7 to watch. If this goes to a series we could be running longer than I originally intended.
slothian
Fate clearly wants us to extend our podcasting partnership, Dave!
slothian
Full episodes of Blake's 7 can be found on youtube, if you want to play along/catch up with the podcast. Here's the pilot/first episode 'The Way Back'. As Dave & I said in episode 1, the tone is quite different to the rest of the show's life span, but it sets up the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMjYChwuqMI
slothian
"The Distant Star" lyrics, as set to the Blake's 7 title theme and figuratively sung by Steven "Tarrant" Pacey: There's a distant star in a distant sky past the edge of time way past Gemini. Peace is there, only beauty meets the eye. Oh my love, that's where we must fly, and let the world go by, Just you and I. Come, hit the Stardust Trail, we'll throw our cap at Mars; we'll catch a comet's tail, and we'll sail to the stars! Though the years go by like a silver stream, if our love is true, we will find our dream. Travellin' on, suddenly that's where we are; That distant star, that distant star, that shining distant star! Alternative Blake's 7 title lyrics, composed by Graham Mills, set to the TV show 'Minder': In a future time and space do do doo doo The nasty federation are all over the place do do doo doo They made a big mistake, and tried to brainwash a curly haired rebel called Blake! do do doo doo He told them see you later, and went off in a ship called the liberator! BLAKE could be so good for you! fight the federation like you want him to! They'll be so good for youuuuuu Blake and his crew! do do dood do doo! The liberator crew do all the can! do do doo doo! To upset a nasty lady named Servalan! With the help of computers Orac and Zen, They do this again and again!! BLAKE could be so good for you! fight the federation like you want him to! They'll be so good for youuuuuu Blake and his crew! do do dood do doo! Then there was an intergalactic war! do do doo doo! After this we don't see Blake and Jenna any more! do do doo doo! The liberator was destroyed at the end of season three! do do doo doo! Soon after we say goodbye to Call-eeeeee! Do do doo doo! The rest of the crew say Cheerio, and get a new spaceship called SCORPIO! BLAKE could be so good for you! fight the federation like you want him to! They'll be so good for youuuuuu Blake and his crew! do do dood do doo!
Rjoyadet
My local library does not have any of the Blake's 7 televised episodes but has the two audio dramas in downloadable format as well as The Early Years. Does anyone think that the reboot may be in the same vein as The Early years, give or take a Benedict Cumberbatch?
slothian
My local library does not have any of the Blake's 7 televised episodes but has the two audio dramas in downloadable format as well as The Early Years. Does anyone think that the reboot may be in the same vein as The Early years, give or take a Benedict Cumberbatch? I'm not familiar with the Early Years, but I'm guessing that the reboot won't be very slavish to continuity, be it the TV show or the Big Finish. I'm listening back to the entirety of Shake & Blake ahead of recording our podcast review episode in a few weeks (I'm nearing the end of episode 12 as I type) and I thought I'd google image search the show. This led to me finding a cast recall photo from the recording of audio drama 'Blake's 7: Warship', set between Series 2 & 3, featuring all the original cast of the end of Series 2 as they were when the feature was recorded: Whilst all the cast have aged drastically (which is fair given that it's 34 years after Series 2 ended), I'm most distressed by bald Servalan.... Rjoyadet
The remake is heading to SyFy to be directed by Martin Campbell. The last I heard was that it was being put exclusively on Xbox live. Now when it comes to video game systems I wait until they are really cheap (Case in point my latest system is a Nintendo 64) but I am considering dishing out for a 360. Deer Tick
Found something interesting on YouTube: a 2003 docu about b7 that was intended for inclusion on DVDs but wasn't. It seems to have been put online by the director / producer. Just search "making b7". If nothing else, the bit at the end credits with Steven pacey was something I highly recommend. Hair! Mr Mockery
I have seen them and they are decent documentaries. Can't think why they weren't added to the DVDs as they would have been a great addition.
Rjoyadet
SF debris recently talked about the first three episodes. http://blip.tv/sf-debris-opinionated-reviews/blake-s-7-ep-1-the-way-back-review-7130958
Deer Tick
"Fusion patrol" has also started their overanalysis of blakes seven, and I've found it to be pretty interesting discussion. They are at the end of season 1 at the time of this post, and cover an episode every two weeks or so.
Hermitdude
A quick defense of space recpetionism, though I am loathe to do it; From blakes (or even avon's) view, if you leave the following on the ship what is the outcome Avon: May just leave Villa: will be drunk Gan: be without muscle on the ground, a bit gullible Jenna: best pilot, best on the ship Callie: will murder anyone to get you back and continue fighting the federation. Post shadow I would leave Calli and Jenna on the ship too, that increases my odds of surviving, Mitch
Deer Tick
Mitch, Great points. They all kind of add up to a need for more crew members, don't they?
Deer Tick
Yet another Blake's 7 podcast has appeared, for those who can't get enough....It's called the "Down and Safe Podcast" and it's hosted by four people who are sci fi writers. One is "in the Ian position"I have to wonder if the supposed reboot hasn't generated interest in the classic series....
slothian
We're aware of Down & Safe - Dave's listened to it more than I have, but it sounds decent enough. A tad different to S&B though, by virtue of there being four hosts for starters.
