You Know Who Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Favorite 1970- Nothing. The only movie I've seen from this year is The Aristocats and it's not good enough to get the slot by default. 1971- The Last Picture Show 1972- Aguirre, the Wrath of God 1973- Live and Let Die 1974- Blazing Saddles 1975- Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1976- Allegro Non Troppo 1977- The Spy Who Loved Me 1978- Superman 1979- Life of Brian Best 1970- See Favorites. 1971- The Last Picture Show 1972- The Godfather, Part 1 1973- Live and Let Die 1974- The Godfather, Part 2 1975- Monty Python and the Holy Grail One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1976- Network 1977- Star Wars 1978- Superman 1979- Life of Brian My favorite of the decade is either Superman or one of the two Python films. Or maybe The Last Picture Show. The best, however, is The Godfather, Part 1. Quote
Dread Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Favorite 1970-El Topo 1971-The Abominable Dr. Phibes 1972-Don't Torture a Duckling 1973-Enter the Dragon 1974-Young Frankenstein 1975-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1976-The Omen 1977-Rolling Thunder 1978-Dawn of the Dead 1979-Nosferatu Best 1970-Gimme Shelter 1971-French Connection 1972-Aguirre, The Wrath of God 1973-The Wicker Man 1974-F for Fake 1975-Jaws 1976-Network 1977-Eraserhead 1978-Halloween 1979-Apocalypse Now This was the absolute hardest to do so far, and I'm pretty sure it will be the hardest I do in this series. I could make a second and third list of completely different films for this decade and none of theSuperman, Star Wars or Bond films would be on any of them. But, you could almost cull my favorite top 10 films of all time from these two lists alone. Quote

Chinatown, The Conversation, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Death Wish etc. Quote
Dread Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 1974 is a really tough year. Chinatown, The Conversation, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Death Wish etc. There's like four really tough years for me in this decade. Even the regular years are tougher than usual tough years in this game. This is my decade. I forgot all about Blazing Saddles. The fact that Brooks and Wilder did something so momentous and intensely hilariously stylish as Young Frankenstein, but also release another of one of the greatest comedies of all time that was also a period piece in the same year blows my fucking mind. Stavros Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 There's also Francis Ford Coppola releasing Godfather Part II and The Conversation in the same year as well, which is similarly impressive especially when you take into account that Part II is basically two films. Quote
Gareth Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 1970- The Aristocats 1971- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 1972- The Godfather 1973- Robin Hood 1974- The Conversation 1975- Dog Day Afternoon 1976- King Kong 1977- Star Wars 1978- Superman 1979- Alien Great decade for movies. My favorite of the decade would have to be Dog Day Afternoon, one of my favorite movies of all time. Quote

You Know Who Posted September 28, 2013 Author Report Posted September 28, 2013 Shit! I forgot about Cuckoo's Nest. Quote
dc20willsave Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 Can Really only justify one list. If I list two in a year, it's just another movie that I heavily enjoyed. 1970- MASH 1971- Fiddler on the Roof 1972- Cabaret 1973- The Exorcist 1974- Young Frankenstein 1975- The Rocky Horror Picture Show/Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1976- Network/The Omen/Carrie 1977- Annie Hall/Star Wars 1978- La Cage Aux Folles 1979- Alien Quote
