Missy
I want to run a tournament to crown Earth-2's favorite comic book couple, and I really need your help. Below I've listed 49 couples. Ideally, however, I'd like 64. So please read the list and add any I've missed. (I know I've overlooked many couples from DC / Vertigo. And I'm sure there are some good villainous couples as well, but I couldn't remember all that many.) Most of the ones I've named are from superhero books, but that doesn't mean indy couples are excluded. Lastly, feel free to debate the list I've created thus far. The List: Lois Lane / Clark Kent Selina Kyle / Bruce Wayne Talia al Ghul / Bruce Wayne Barbara Gordon / Dick Grayson Starfire / Dick Grayson Elektra Natchios / Matt Murdock Karen Page / Matt Murdock Natasha Romanova (Black Widow) / Matt Murdock Natasha Romanova (Black Widow) / Tony Stark (Iron Man) [ultimate Universe] Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) / Piotr Rasputin (Colossus) Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) / Peter Wisdom Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) / Peter Parker [ultimate Universe] Mary Jane Watson / Peter Parker Gwen Stacy / Peter Parker Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) / Peter Parker Susan Storm / Reed Richards Susan Storm / Namor McKenzie Jean Grey / Logan [ultimate Universe] Jean Grey / Scott Summers Emma Frost / Scott Summers Madelyne Pryor / Scott Summers Dinah Lance (Black Canary) / Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) / Vision Ororo Munroe (Storm) / Forge Ororo Munroe (Storm) / Hank McCoy (Beast) [ultimate Universe] Harley Quinn / The Joker Janet van Dyne (Wasp) / Hank Pym (Ant Man) [Marvel 616] Janet van Dyne (Wasp) / Steve Rogers (Captain America) [ultimate Universe] Tulip O'Hare / Jesse Custer Apollo / Midnighter Rogue / Remy LeBeau (Gambit) Rogue / Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) Moira MacTaggert / Charles Xavier Irene Adler (Destiny) / Raven Darkholme (Mystique) Raven Darkholme (Mystique) / Victor Creed (Sabretooth) Birdy / Victor Creed (Sabretooth) Jean Loring / Ray Palmer (The Atom) Betty Ross / Bruce Banner Marlo Chandler / Rick Jones Jessica Jones / Luke Cage Linda Park / Wally West (Flash) Goldie / Marv Ava Lord / Dwight McCarthy Shellie / Dwight McCarthy Gail / Dwight McCarthy Nancy Callahan / Detective John Hartigan Sue Dibny / Ralph Dibny (Elongated Man) Donna Cavanagh (Foxglove) / Hazel Slade Wilson (Deathstroke) / Tara Markov (Terra)

James D.
In all seriousness, the Sonic/Sally relationship is VERY well written and has played out extremely well throughout the comic book series. It's not some corny, goofball relationship because they are talking animals and whatnot. There's a definitive element of "starcrossed would-be lovers". Sally won't get involved with a male unless she knows it will benefit her kingdom. And since Sonic is the greatest hero on their world and they have been friends for a long time, she would gladly marry him. However, Sonic feels that he will do more good with direct action instead of on a throne. So, there is some strain on their relationship as a whole due to Sonic's choice. Like I said, it's a very well written story.
Missy
Oh, I'm not knocking the comic, characters or relationship. I'm just messing with Kellen.
Darque Edge
Okay, controversial suggestion time. I've recently read a book analysing Batman as a cultural Icon, and one of the points it makes is that any reading of the characters becomes valid, even if it isn't 'canon'. For example, Batman absolutely was a jingoistic patriot who sold war bonds. Also, he absolutely was the Dark Knight of the eighties. Also he absolutely was the pioneer of camp in the sixties. In order to fully appreciate the cultural value of the character, all these readings are valid, and as such, should be embraced by the fans - after all, whether liked or not, they are part of the past and cultural value of the character. So, since any reading of the characters can be seen to be valid, while not 'canon', why not throw in one that was, in the fifties, seen by a large audience as absolutely there, and seen by a lot of young teenagers as a very special one, which helped them make life decisions: Batman and Robin.
